Yeah, move the ball to the center of your stance, maybe further forward. Maybe go to the range and practice doing half swings, 3/4 swings and full swings. I tend to lean forward on my left foot and this helps me hit down on the ball and this creates spin and prevents the horrible thin shot. Rememer, for shorter wedge shots, do not flick your wrists as this can cause it to go left.

I hit my cheap driver around 180-250 (I am inconsistant) but when I use a cobra driver I hit from 210-250. I hit my 9 iron 130, 8 140, 7 150, 6 160, 5 175, and slightly higher with my 3and 4 irons (when I don't shank, top or fat them!!) By the way I can get basically any ball in the world so more expensive golf balls are not a problem. At the moment I really use any golf ball..from pro v1s to callaways to ultras etc etc... Could you please suggest a ball that would stick to the green but not exaggerate my slice while keeping my distance. I do not care about how putting feels as I can adjust to anything. thanks.

Nice, the pro shops around where I am aren't very good at selling varied equipment as most are only retailers of certain companies e.g ping, callaway etc... I looked on ebay.com and saw many vokey wedges but when I looked on ebay.co.uk there were about 3 for sale. argh!!

I guess that with my wedges at the moment I cannot back the ball up far so I just aim for the front of the green so it can roll. With the vokey sm do you need to aim just further on from the pin so that it will spin back? Also, If I do a normal wedge shot on line with quite high trajectory, would the ball spin back each time?
-
I often see the pga tour pros backing the ball up about 6 feet but a lot of the time it brings the ball away from the hole. Is spin actaully a bad thing? To be honest I would like to spin the ball just to say that I could but every time I hit a wedge and it keeps rolling but checks up a bit, I always get the ball closer to the pin. What are your opinions on spinning the ball around the green. Do you do it?

So if I want to use it in the sand but also from about 90 yards and in should I get the 14 bounce?

I do not have an xbox 360 so I am firstly not getting it because of that. The commentary is the same as 2007 (and has been the same for a few years) The graphics are similar The gameplay is very similar The only reason I would buy it would be because I could buy a square driver from the virtual pro shop just for the sake of it. lol. Though if I did have a 360 I would probably get it.

I am thinking of buying a Titleist Vokey 56° wedge but I have a few questions about them. -What is the difference between the normal vokeys and the spin milled? -Is the oil can wedge the same as the chrome just in a different colour? -What is the difference between 10° bounce and 14° bounce. Just to let you know, I play golf in England and the ground is never hard as it rains a lot so should that may make a difference to which degree bounce I get?

I would say x-20 irons. Reason being that the big berthas are designed for the higher handicapper (around 19+) but I think the x-20s are designed for mid handicappers. If you want to buy them cheaply, buy them off of ebay in the winter. I did and got a set of basically new 2006 big bertha irons for £190 + £20 postage. It was a good deal.

Thanks for the offer but I am going to go to a launch monitor first. I found that I hit the 10.5* really high in the air but got the distance so I need to see what degree and shaft I should e using also. How come you are getting rid of the ld f? It it not as good as the f speed?

I would take a few lessons (maybe just half hour ones) to get the correct grip and work on driver, irons, wedges and putter and maybe woods if you want to use them. You could get new clubs but the technique is very important. Try and get to your local putting green and putt there for a while and do chip n' run shots on them with your wedges. If you want to do these shots, take a narrow stance (with your feet about half a foot), lean on your left foot, hold your hands towards your target (in line with the inside of your left Thigh) and take a smooth 'same back same forward' quarter swing. This can help you get near the hole from the rough. That is how I do those shots anyway. Those shots easily took 1-2 shots off of my score per round. Watching the golf channel and the pros can also help sometimes as you can pick up some tips. You could also go to a local par 3 course that has 50-120 yard holes to practice wedges and putting. Good luck but I am just suggesting a few things, take my advice with a pinch of salt but it is worth a try.

If I was you I would just play 9 holes at first to get used to golf. Trolleys are also good to use as they are cheaper to rent than carts (you can also buy trolleys reasonably cheaply) and also it lets both people walk straight to their balls unlike a cart. Group lessons are good but remember that you will not have as much time with the instructor. Maybe you could share a lesson (split cost 50:50) with your fiance for a few lessons with an instructor and then have some group lessons after you know the basics. Then again, it is your choice and you may do better if you have more group lessons as they are cheaper.

1 - Tiger Woods - Amazing at golf with a good personality. 2 - Phil Mickelson - Really good short game and interesting to watch. 3 - Ernie Els - Really nice swing and is always around the top of the leaderboard. 4 - John Daly - Uses a driver and hits the ball miles on most holes and has a good personality. 5 - Paula Creamer - A really good golfer with a good personality.

Nightmare at the range -- came down w/ shanks
mgolfer replied to rmgators's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I played 3 rounds one week and went to the range...every shot was a shank, top, hook or slice. I rested for 4 days and now I am back to normal. I think I over did it. -
Ego spoils the round of the High Handicapper?
mgolfer replied to Big Don's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I thought that my swing was to blame when I was slicing the ball every shot with my driver. I recently tried a King Cobra driver and I hit it straight about 220+ every shot. The fact that I am uncomfortable pitching in from 120-60 yards to the green and the fact that I cannot use my 4 iron or my 5 iron consistantly destroys my rounds. I am happy though that I am breaking 50s when I play 9 holes all the time on a very tough course. Also...If you consistantly slice the ball with your driver, why don't you take it with you when you play and if you have to hit it around some trees to the right you can use your driver and slice it around them. I used to do that. -
When I tee off with a driver or a wood I get the club out of my bag, take practice swings until it feels right, stand back behind the ball and put my club down until it aims at my target. I then move my feet until they face towards my target and I then take my shot. Also if I do a bad shot I take another practice swing after my shot. If there is no one behind me I sometimes drop another ball in the same position and hit it for practice and they normally end up on the green...lol. When I tee off with irons I do the same but when I am aiming I make sure that I have got the correct club for the shot. What are your pre shot routines?

How to hit hybrids and/or long irons
mgolfer replied to srjorion's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I hit my hybrid with a flat swing and this helps me sweep the ball off of the ground. I rarely make a divot...i'm not a player that hits into the ground much, i brush the grass with my clubs. -
What club do you use to hit a 200 yards par-3?
mgolfer replied to ronaldkuntoro's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Medium driver swing if there is a bank behind the green, 3 or 5 wood otherwise. -
Sabbatini called out Tiger and got thrashed. Moral: Don't call out Tiger when you are playing one of his favorite courses with him soon.

I like the fact that on all these threads the only people that post are the mac users but the windows users are happy with what they have and don't have to post to try and prove a point.

I would never want one...the nokia n95 is so much better

Hmm...I might just try and demo some cobra drivers or I might buy one that doesn't suit me. Do I just go into a pro shop that has them and ask them if I can try them out or do I have to pay?
