  2. Respect......i would watch him hit a ball at 90+......he still has style for days
  3. absolutely...............i like guys who play golf, not golf swing. The tour is filled with beautiful swings with healthy young over acheivers......one for the sinners, please.
  4. Quote: I don't think anyone is really answering OP's original question. He's asking if it ever will surpass the majors. We have to look into the future, at a point where tradition alone doesn't automatically make the majors the outright winner. Of course at this very moment, every player would take a major first; of course at this moment the FedEx Cup is just a made for money event. But that's not to say in the future it can't become more prominent. The fields have been just as deep at these events as any major. Participation in any of the playoff events requires a solid season. Forget about the name of the event, or it's age; just compare the difficulty of winning the FedEx Cup to a major. I would put them at a similar level. Why can't an event that draws such top players and has such a huge purse not eventually be considered something better than a major. Already now you see European players joining the PGA tour to try their hand at the FedEx Cup. It's no less global than any major. If the Cup stays around long enough and gains the same staying power as majors I see no reason why it couldn't surpass them as the biggest event in golf. To OP, I thought about creating this exact thread, and imagined I would be as you have been. Sorry for trying to stir up some discussion! ^ this
  5. Rory has been beyond impressive. Even Tiger is a fanboy and is impressed with Rory (bromance). I will never understand why Tiger always needs backup from his internet friends..... The real question is......if Tiger wins in two weeks at east lake, will that be enough to pull back player of the year from the young phenom?
  6. 1. His handicap has nothing to do with it.....it was a rant. 2. Obviously viewership numbers are fine......considering the new contract. It is not always about numbers, but who in the demigraphic is watching. Face it golfers have more expendable income than other TV viewing sports. 3. "players" (whatever this is)......obviously you have never worked in the industry or at a golf course......"players" refers to those people who play three to five times a week without fail. Every golf course I have ever worked at has at least 200-500 of these "players" in all shapes and sizes and abilities....... 4. "the casual fans are needed to keep healthy tv coverage" not true......Nationwide Tour coverage is getting better every year with out casual fans my point is..... I am tired of talking about the "business" of golf instead of talking about the golf being played......
  7. every monday morning I am greeted at work with a co-worker who critiques the tournament by viewership.....not great shots.....not meltdowns....not play-offs with great play.......viewership. FML. I immediately strike up.....what a 6 iron...how about that putt on 17.......but to no avail. Its always about viewership and the tour is broken without Tiger. 1. If you are concerned about viewership and ratings......you my friend are not a core fan. 2. I "watched" & played before Eldrick and will watch & play after he is gone. (hope he gets his game back....if not.....thanks for building the TIGER army of young kids because they are fun to watch) 3. Stop wanting golf to be mainstream entertainment . Nothing wrong with only "players" watching the best duel on the biggest stages. (consider it free lessons that you can apply to your own game) Sorry for the rant......but I have to spend 20 minutes a week listening to this un-interesting dribble from a 30 handicap.....
  8. Peter Uihlein, Patrick Cantlay, Tom Lewis, & Jordan Spieth......this thing is packed with future stars.... Cantlay vs. Lewis is on and I have a job......thanks capitalism The course is amazing.....how much do you want to play that course? I love the 9th hole....only 140 yards downhill......target is small as a postage stamp.....
  9. i dont have an accurate handicap.....hence the even number. Havent payed in years for the information. I play with the same people and regardless we have "history" to dictate appropriate stroke to be given or taken...... after reading this discussion forum for the last 6 months.....i am joining the Men's Club again to get "legit" again and play in tournaments again..... this board has made me want to start working on my game again
  10. Well can we agree........Atlanta is no Bangkok... just sayin...
  11. I need to know the quality and quantity of the girls Tiger is entertaining before I can make such a judgement......
  12. I would love to try the center shafted version...... .
  13. This happens.........golf viewership and prize money is going way up

  15. Pick now......so we can change our minds over the next eight months The Masters- Augusta, GA - Rory McIlroy US Open-Olympic Club San Franciso, CA - Nick Watney Open Championship-Royal Lytham & St. Annes - Lee Westwood (with a long putter) PGA Championship -Kiawah Island, SC - the Field (anyone outside the tope 25)
  16. Funny Story.... Working in a Pro Shop back in 1998 I had my first experience with a long putter.....behind the counter we had cardboard cut out custom hole.....the pro & I would put or chip for money in the early mornings or off-season times....One day there was a Ping long putter that had been re-gripped and was waiting for the member to pick it up.....well I started putting with it and was making everything.....then our pro comes in and in less than an hour I had lost over fifty dollars and yet I was strangely putting well.......our pro left to give lessons and the member came in and saw me putting with his putter.....we got to talking....I mentioned it cost me fifty dollars........he asked who took my money.....I told him.......he then laughed......."you do know this was his old putter right" and at that time I knew my friend had played me perfectly..... the putter had LTS written in black marker on the face......I asked what does it stand for "License to Steal".... I have had a long or belly putter in my bag ever since.......
  17. just pointing out that Dufner was in unchartered waters......
  18. Stone Ruination I.P.A. So called because of the "ruinous" effect on your palate! This massive hop monster has a wonderfully delicious and intensely bitter flavor on a refreshing malt base. One taste and you can easily see why we call this brew "a liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Those who seek, crave and rejoice in beers with big, bold, bitter character will find true nirvana in Stone Ruination IPA!
  19. Does it matter that he has never won on the PGA Tour..... in other words.....do players like Fowler & Dufner have a different standard in that situation....
  20. ..........I knew there was something I forgot to due before I left for Iowa. Lets scheldule a rain prayer vigil upon my return to Austin. Govenor Perry
  21. my co-workers think so..... My take was.....really.....he shot 69 and played even in a play-off of a major championship.... He was clearly beaten (Keegan plays 2 under on the last three holes of regulation) and maybe he closes out that deal 3 out of 5 opportunities......but I certainly wouldnt label that a choke. with that said.....why are people so quick to label people "chokers"..... and what would you consider a "choke" or "meltdown"
  22. 110 degrees today.........wanna trade?
  23. BC is excellent because love or hate him....viewers repond to his rants... Bottom line on Tiger...If he returns to Florida and seclusion........with out playing the rest of the summer (Nationwide, Fall series, or European Tour) his swing is not his biggest problem...........delusion is......... and his own assessment of the state of his game has been way off for years.....
