  1. I have always classed it as a sport. I would certainly rank it about Baseball as a sport. For me, Baseball is one of the biggest crock of shite sports i have ever watched. But thats still a sport? They spend most there time just standing around, with a pitch every minute, then something happens for 30 seconds. Either the batter hits the ball and it goes to x position, or its a strike etc.... Actually, it sounds similar to Golf! its just not a pitcher throwing the golf ball at the player! You still have to train to play Golf. I dont think anyone has ever just picked up the club and shot under par have they. There is some degree of athleticism in the game too. Im by no means fit, and yestaday i felt the effects in playing 18 in the hot sun. Tiger is at the top of Golf in regards to training fitness wise, and its a major reason why hes currently top of the game. There so many arguments out there. Football (Soccer) for example. They just kick a ball around, Cricket. Ball is thrown, batter trys to hit it. After that play stops for a bit untill the next ball is ready to be thrown. I think the main reason soem dont consider it a sport is because it never really started as a sport. It was a Gentlemans game, or Lesuire activity really when it was first invented. Alot of sports where started by other sports E.G. Rugby
  2. lol lets say, over the last 3 months and i've played around 20 rounds with only 5 being in dry weather! So yea got a bit of experiance, although the one time it was a moonsoon and parts of my wet suit were taken in water! Thing i like about rain is that, you dont swing as hard or as fast so my shots were normally better then in the dry. Just a bit less distance. Putting is a right pain, some parts the ball stops. Some, its just like if it was dry and the ball flys!
  3. I got to 10 HC in a year. Playing up to 5 times a week when i could. On my day my ball striking is just as good as a scratch golfer But i find now its not so much about ball striking, its about course management, planning shots and putting
  4. Par 5 480 yards. Hit a solid 5i 190 yards into the wind and stopped 15ft infront of the stream. Hit a nice 2nd shot, 4i down the middle again which left me with a 30ft chip, although the chip was poor. It was nice to get my ball striking back and no hooks! Took out my 3w on the 5th and hit it solid over 230 yards, missing a crow by inches lol!
  5. Thanks for the input. Will have a go when i play tonight! Funny enough aswell, picked up Golf Digest today and theres a tip from Hank Haney about going across the line! " Nothing is more damaging to your game than the two way miss. One major reason it happens is that club across the line-pointing to the right of the target-at the top. If the club is across the line (Or too upright) at the top, it will have a tendency to drop too far to the inside and behind you on the downswing. Two things can happen from there: If your body stays back, the hands will flip and you'll hit a low hook; if your body moves forward you'll hit a high block. When your missing on both sides of the golf course your in big trouble. You want the club to be parallel to the target line at the top" Might help others with a sim prob!
  6. Its not that serious, but i like to take it serious so i keep focused. I think a big problem that stops me getting a better HC is not staynig focused and lossing my composure! But, theres normally closest to the pin to win a Golfing holiday. Hole in one for a new car (Last month a nice BMW 1 series!) and other things for various scores like new set of clubs, drivers etc! Get these a few times a year thanks to work!
  7. Forgot to mention, as we spend over half a million a year on supplies. And with 2 major suppliers chasing our work, we (Well, me and the Boss) often get taken out to a few good Golf courses a month, if we are lucky twice a month. Free golf, free food and drink = win !
  8. My Porsche 944 Also got a works Merc Estate which is great for golf, although i still take the Porka now and again, with the seats down in the back (no one can fit in them anyway) can fit 2 full golf bags and two trollies! Since that picture was taken i've put clear indicators on, much improved look for the car!
  9. Yea i looked at that Explanar thing, would be great although not much room in the house for that lol Im 85% sure its sliding the hips, i think its comming from trying to destroy the ball. Although my Driver is so bad atm i dont know what the hell to do. Last night i worked on it, and hit some nice 3 woods but when i took out the Driver, well you would of thought i have never played Golf before. Driver is like a super duck hook. Lucky when on form with my 3 wood, i have no troubles driving 240 with it so i can avoid the driver. My Pro is playing on America for 3 weeks, when he gets back im on hol. 2 Days after hol i have a Corporate Golf Comp which i want to do well in lol. Must get it sorted!
  10. Yea im trying to find the middle for myself. I was taking a too wide stance with my woods and 3/4i. I was sliding accross and flipping my hadns over. I also noticed with the narrow stance that i was reverse pivoting! Just got to find the middle
  11. Funny enough i was testing this out on the range yestaday. I was feeling awkward using my Driver/3 Wood and it was because my stance was too wide thus, restricting my should turn. Being 6'5 and having bigish feet (UK 12) it did look very strange having my feet "Shoulder width" apart! But i felt it easier to rotate my shoulders
  12. Well i will have to say it was natural to me, after 12 months of playing golf having never played it before i was playing to a 10 HC. I had a hard time convincing my local teaching pro in my first lesson i've only been playing 3 months at the range using a set of clubs that cost me £18 from ebay and where 10 years old lol! Dont get me wrong, i was hitting the ball 300 yards with my driver straight down the middle. I had nice reliable 220yard slice! But i must admit i did work hard once the lessons started, working on the tips i was given. I would say on average over this year so far i've been to the range twice a week and played 13 holes on ave! My ball striking is excellant from 7i up to the wedges. 5 and 6 irons are good too. And im a long hitter too by most people although which is not really a great thing. So, i would say i would need both options. I was a natrual to start which got me hooked and i've been practicing hard ever since. Getting grief now off the Golf friend lol :) !
  13. I enjoyed using the Noodles, unfortunatly i have improved a great deal, and with anything from a 7i up, on a full swing i pretty much cut a section of the ball off! But they feel great to hit and there cheap too. Currently using NXT Tour, £16 for a dozen so the price is resonable and they feel pretty good. Also read good thigns about the Top Flight D2 Feels
  14. I liked them, i tried them after my pro advised i need to up grade from my current set (X-18's) due to needing stiff shafts and no offset. I tried the X-20 Tour and X-Forged, enjoyed them both and didnt have any trouble really hitting them straight away! Off centre hits with the X-Forged didnt feel too good, but well. You supposed to be hitting the centre! If your a confident ball striker, i dont see why they would'nt work for you!

    Breaking 90?

I will tell you what stops me shooting under 90. Hopefully you can relate to some. Driving off the tee: Driving OB or into a Hazard of lossing a ball which results in dropped shoots Second Shot: This for me is a key point in breaking 90. You have to give yourself the best chance of one or two putting. So, if you good with chipping from around the green why not shoot to the front of green? Personally i rather come up short by a few feet, then risk doing a 60ft putt or flying over the green into a hazard, bunker or rough etc Within 100 yards: Again, how good are you within 100 yards? I love using my wedges, so have no problem whipping out the gap wedge, sw etc. From 100 yards, my pro advised me that you really need to get within 15ft. Putts after 15ft start to have luck involved, unless your a great putter. Get to 10ft thats its really about how well you read the green to get the ball in the hole, or close! Putting: I went through a phase, which happened to me on the weekend. Putting! 3 putting was killing me. I had about 7 putts hit the lips, some on my first putt, some on my 2nd which = 3 putt I was turning my hands when stroking the ball which was putting it off the line, and they were going just left or just right. Missing the middle of the hole. That killed my score a bit, reckon i dropped about 5 shotts on putting!
  16. Hello all, Having a bit of trouble with my Driver and my 3 Wood which used to be my bread and butter club! It also happens sometimes with my 3i and not so often 4i. Im snap hooking my shots because im flipping my hands over. What usually causes this? I think im comming to far from the inside and all i can do to hit the ball is flip my hands over as i cant extend at impact due to my body being in the way. Could a lack of shoulder turn also cause this? I've been working on getting a nice wide takeaway, and im now wondering if im just producing a hands and arms only swing! 7i and up im 100% confidence in my swing and hit the ball with a cripse desending blow with a divot after the ball. 5i & 6i im okie with, most of the time i hit them good, but now and again i might have a slight fade if im lazy! Whats the best way to grove the correct swing path with the woods? I think im just taking my arms back and up and rotating around and fliping the hands over.
