Footjoy GF II's, and Classics Tour are what I wear. Considering Reelfits though, because the really fit perfectly no joke. Footjoys for me virtually had no break in period just don't wear low socks the first few rounds if you buy the Classics Tour or Premier (the collar can be a bit bothersome). Get to your proshop and go nuts trying stuff on! Do it in the afternoon or after a round so your foot can naturally swell. You'll get a truer fit that way.

Your best golf equipment purchase?
Black_Black replied to Mr. Sparkle's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Hmm, last 5 years? All I have to say is Todd Hamilton 04 Open @ Troon. He showed us the amazing versatility of the MD that week (I remember buying one shortly after). So, I'd have to say my Sonartec MD hybrid has helped my game the most , mainly with playability from fairways and rough as opposed to a 2I. But my 906F2 has to be my favorite purchase. I'm totally in love with the club, everything about it is just perfect. It hasn't really helped my game, I hit it about the same maybe just a bit higher than my old PT but I just love the looks of the 906 (give me a 906 w/ the PT sound and you'd have a perfect club). I may change my mind though, I've been borrowing an FT-5 and so far I'm loving it! My neighbor is going to have to fight me for it! hehe. -
Mickelsons new driver that good?
Black_Black replied to flap's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
hah, yeah $450 for the "tour" model is pretty steep. I hit my neighbor's FT-5 w/ a (GD YS+7) on the range Saturday and I really liked the way it performs I can move it left and right o.k. Not as easy to work as my K but I guess that's expected because of the huge difference in head size. However I don't think it's going to help me hit 80% of the fairways But I do think the COR rating should be "DEEP" (maybe it's 40 yards LOUDER than my K?) But I seemed to be hitting it further than my current 983k (maybe it's just old?) and that's fitted for me I'm seriously considering the FT-5 and the 907's (once I try them) as my new bigstick. -
I think the NBA is still fun to watch. But only the marquis teams PHX, LAL, CLE, DEN, and DAL. PHX for this reason

Buick Invitational . . . who has a chance other than Tiger?
Black_Black replied to RX Phoenix's topic in Tour Talk
I'd say Vijay is the closest challenger to Tiger then Philly Mick of course, hopefully Sergio will show us something also. The foreign contingent is never really that strong here but Im kinda bummed Luke Donald isn't playing this year Im pretty sure he has played in the Buick the last 4 years. -
AWESOME! you read my mind I was going to ask if anyone new if the Golf Channel would ever be in HD. I'll have to wait around and see if my provider will end up offering it. Does anyone know why that happens? It is the worst by the way.

QQ suggested that I move my post here also. First off, pockets I'll keep my divot tool and 4 short white tees in my right pocket during a round (I don't really check it to make sure there are always 4 tees sometimes more sometimes less). Left pocket is a ball mark usually a quarter or one of those plastic ones. Back left pocket is for my glove and back right is where my pen goes. Secondly, The other thing I am compusive about is how I tee my ball up and align it for putts. I'll have the Titleist logo on top this represents my target or intended line of the putt or shot I'll usually, depending on the shot set my stance to this line, but it must be upside down and the stripe that indicates what kind of ball it is on the front I want to hit the white part of the ball always! Weird huh? Oh yeah and as for ball numbers I like odds 1's and 3's. Together they're bad luck but separate is fine

How many balls per round?

Haha, I can probably write a short essay about my superstitions pertaining to golf. -
Beckham in USA for $250 millions...isn't he overpriced?
Black_Black replied to ipark1303's topic in Sports
I read that the 1/4 bill is just some random number thrown out there to turn heads. I mean if somebody like Ronaldinho came to the U.S. I doubt any team could afford to throw down 50 million each year for 5 years c'mon, I doubt the entire MLS let alone the Galaxy franchise is even worth 250 million! I also believe that if he could still produce he would still be playing in Europe. A lot of soccer fans I know are really loving the younger generation of players like C.Ronaldo, Rooney, Eto'o, Henry etc. As for the thought that Beckham might popularize soccer here in U.S. goes I truly believe it can't be done. I don't speak for everyone but the national consensus is that we love football not soccer. Pele couldn't do it and neither could Beckenbauer. Maybe there is a chance he can in LA but not on a national scale. But hey, Posh is mega hot she'll probably attract more attention and media than Becks. -
How many balls per round?
Black_Black replied to mrbillinoc's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I subscribe to the change your ball change your luck thing. I'll usually use about 4-5 different balls during a round. I like to switch when I screw up, i.e. 3 putts, bad reads, bogeys, or just about anything I didn't like about a particular hole. I like to believe that the ball was at fault rather than myself! -
Semi - Blades AKA muscle cavities
Black_Black replied to sungho_kr's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yeah after years of playing with both 990b's and 690's (no dot) progressive sets are defintely for me. I feel I would rather sacrifice a little(and I mean a little) workability and feedback for a little more reassurance that the club I am hitting is going to help me out on the slightest mis-hits. Progressive sets give you the best of both worlds, precise control with the shorter clubs and and more forgiving easy launching long irons that don't sacrifice aesthetics (this is key). The only knock I have on my 735's is that the 7 iron isn't a muscle back. -
Best looking, feeling and playing driver thread
Black_Black replied to Clubswinger21's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
All I can say is 983k. The looks are immaculate, and the feel is unrivaled. The 905r lacks in feel and workability, but is running a close second. -
Wouldn't your swing speed still require an X-flex shaft regardless of the shaft discrepency? I dunno just my two cents.

Rust a rusty wedge (rtg raw oilcan)
Black_Black replied to PJS's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I like my sand and lob wedges rusty for cosmetic purposes. I have rusted numerous raw and oil can vokeys by soaking them in vinegar. works great pretty evenly rusted. -
Yeah, I pretty much agree with Erik here. But, another thing that you can try is to keep track of these stats: PUTTS, GIR's, and fairways per round take an average of 3 rounds. This helps me out a lot and will mostly likely help you to identify where your game is lacking the most . One last suggestion is about your hybrid it probably plays like a 5wood from my experiences with TM rescue clubs (i.e. high flight). And from your sig it looks like you only have 12 clubs?! You need to get another wedge and add a 3wood to your bag. You'll benefit greatly from them. Hopefully this will help get you started on breaking 80. Good Luck.

Recently I've been trying to shorten up my swing a bit. So, I was wondering if anyone here has tried this training aid? I read somewhere awhile back that Ryuji Imada uses this device ocassionally. The Right Link. I'd like to get some info about it before purchasing. Was it effective for you? Pros and Cons etc.? Thanks a lot.

Mixed Bag A Good thing?
Black_Black replied to MdGolfer1982's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I really don't have a mixed bag right now. I think I'm a little guilty when it comes to tour hype though, i.e. the 906F, Sonartec MD (thanks to Todd), R7 425 TP, or the 905r. I like what works the best for my game but I'm probably just a little to loyal/biased to Titleist products, but I do tend to fluctuate my fairway woods and hybrids. I have 4 "old faithful" fw's, a pair OG Steelheads 15* and 19*, PT15, and a 980F 17* I like to use these every now and again. I've also been trying out my Pop's 585 21* and his Hibore 3w. Oh, and as for golf balls, I'm always using different ones. I'm pretty variant when it comes to those, I often just pull out a random one be it a ProV1x, HX56, Z-UR, or B330S's -
If you could have any pro's putting stroke who's would it be?

I'm confused about the different lofts of Hybrids. My question is, do I use the basic loft of a 2-iron (19*) for choosing the correct club? Currently I use a Sonartec Md 19* as my hybrid club. Im guessing that since it creates a lower ball flight is why 19* works as a 2-iron? I am currently looking into a buying a new hybrid, a Titleist 585.H and they recommend 17* as a 2-iron/4-wood, and 19* as a 5-wood. I know that the 585.H launches higher than the Sonartec but wouldn't a 17* loft produce more distance than 19*?

Try out the 735's you'll probably take a liking to them. I really like my set, more forgiving than my old 990's, but still as workable and just about as much shot feedback. As for the RAC LT's, they're potentially a better fit for you than the 735's, it might be a little shock switching from RAC OS to a smaller forged club head like the 735 . But hey, a friend of mine with about the same handicap as you decided after hitting my 735's, to get fitted for a set and he went from a Ben Hogan OS set, can't remember the exact one BH-5 maybe? They were probably as large as the OS's But I would encourage you to go out and demo some on a range and see what you like the best. As for popular irons, the set I see most frequently has to be the either the RAC MB's or the Mizuno MP-32's.

gas_can you always deliver the goods! I'm not really not sure what kind of grind I need to fit my wedge game. I was kind of looking for something with a little relieved toe and heel for less drag. Could you elaborate a little more on the various grinds available M,T, V, P, and E. maybe I'll take you up on your offer someday. Thanks a lot.

My Primary comp is an iMac G4 1.25 Ghz 17" 10.4.7 and an old Ti Powerbook G4 800mhz 15" 10.3.9 Thinking about getting a new MacBook seems like a lot of bang for the buck. Leopard looks pretty rad, lookin' forward to it almost as much as a PT 906F2 hah

I was wondering if any of you use different wedge grinds beside the manufacturer's stock grind? A. do you grind them yourself, if so what equipment is necessary for doing so? I've always been interested in sole grinds or B. get them done professionally if you do, where can you get this done? Thanks.

You can't really go wrong with what the others have suggested. My Top.5 excluding Torrey, Maderas, La Costa and Aviara 1. Steele Canyon 2. Carlton Oaks 3. Carmel Mt. Ranch C.C. 4. Rancho Bernardo Inn 5. Salt Creek aka. The Auld honorable mention: Balboa and Double Tree (spotted LaDainian Tomlinson a couple times this summer, he has pretty good swing too.) p.s. if you're Military check out Sea n' Air , Admiral Baker or Miramar.
