  1. Sure. You come in this thread, start calling this guy "ignorant" because you feel that just because his handicap is 20+ and that yours is 5.x, that you can tell him that he isn't in fact hitting the ball solid? And then you use the phrase, "believing they are ready and good enough for blades while us golfers who can strike a ball," to practically call this guy an idiot because god forbid a 20+ handicap be able to differentiate a solid shot from a mishit. Where is the issue?? Why can't a 20+ handicapper hit blades? Here is a little story, a true story: One of my fraternity brothers starts playing golf this summer. He goes to the driving range a few times, plays a few rounds of golf, etc. He doesn't practice much. I go back to school one weekend and play a round of golf with him. He is borrowing another brothers Macgregor blades. To make a long story short, he goes on to hit at least 75% of his iron shots pure with a nice high cut. His problem is a combination of driving, chipping, and putting. So tell me again why a 20+ handicapper can't hit a muscleback, because I know he isn't anywhere close to a 20 handicap. I do know better. I know better than to criticize someone because of what golf equipment they want to use. Everyone is different and approaches the game differently. I don't understand why people get this god complex with golf and think they are the only ones that can, in this case, hit a muscleback iron. It's ridiculous.
  2. Keep tootin' your horn, buddy. Rich, play whatever sticks you feel comfortable swinging. If you don't hit the blades well right now, I guarantee you will learn very quickly how to hit them solid because you will have the truest feedback with them.
  3. I always hit the ball better on the course than I do at the range. I'm always putting a lot more focus on each shot while on the course. This is definitely something I need to work on so that I can practice like I play.
  4. The Tarheel tour would probably be pretty tough for him since he lives on the West Coast. The only Gateway tournaments he would be accessible to are the ones in Pheonix, also. Doesn't make much sense when he can play the mini-tours in his state.
  5. This is a pretty cool question. I'd still have to go with Tiger. I'm sure he doesn't have Stevie with him every round outside of competition and I'd be willing to bet he can shoot some stupid low numbers. It also helps that he is probably in the top 5 golfers as far as fitness is concerned, if not numero uno.
  6. I am now a little biased, but I've always felt this way. I love the Nike Forged blades. Nothing but chrome finish, a Nike swoosh, and the number on the bottom.....Mmmm......
  7. Really? Can you prove that?
  8. Haha, that's funny because I saw it on TV earlier and thought about this thread. I watched it for a little while thinking I might see ya on there, but I must've missed it.
  9. Ditto. I would love to see him in contention more.
  10. Golfsmith has a handicap tracker. It's a yearly membership fee of like $25 or so. You have an "official NGN handicap," which I'm not sure who recognizes that. It's pretty good. I had one until I broke down and got an official USGA handicap for tournament purposes next year. *edit* I just read the last sentence after I posted. Lmao. I should have read the entire post beforehand.

  12. Ben, that is kinda interesting. I used to play a draw as well and then all of a sudden one day, it was gone. I was hitting the ball straight or with a slight cut. That's pretty much all I play now as well. Every now and then I will get an 8 iron to turn over to the left, but that's about it. BTW, my grip is slightly strong, but not much.
  13. Ben: That's a pretty strong grip you have there. Is that the way you have always done or did you start out fighting a cut/slice and that setup became natural to you?
  14. As long as your aren't hitting everything really fat then it won't be a problem and won't affect your club. After a little while you can learn what a solid shots sounds/feels like.
  15. I wouldn't call The Masters tournament the "biggest tourney on earth." That's really all a matter of perspective. I'd have to say on a global scale that The Open Championship is larger than the Masters. But you are correct, this tournament in Dubai is nothing more than a cash grab.
  16. One could hardly say that he is a "money pig." Granted he does make a ton of money doing what he does so well, but I'm pretty sure money is not is motive. It's the competition, winning, and accomplishing goals by beating the world's best. I'd say if he does play in the event it is more to help his design over in Dubai rather than helping the bank account. But then again, winning that would be a big chunk out of the money needed to become the first billionaire athlete....
  17. Welcome to the forum. What part of Nashville? I'm from Knoxville, but go to school in Cookeville.
  18. Wow, dude, calm down. Punctuation is your friend. Complete sentences are also your friend. I understand that you are upset, but that was the most difficult to read and incoherent paragraph that I think I have ever read on the internet.
  19. Well, I found out that I'm getting a Skycaddie SG3 from my mom. She couldn't figure out which one I had asked for so she just asked me which model I wanted. I'm pretty excited about that gift. I'm certain it will help me shave a couple of strokes this next season.
  20. I tried to send you a PM, but you have chosen not to receive them. Go to User CP on the upper left hand corner and click "Edit Signature." You can input your clubs and click "More" under the smilies to add the company logo.
  21. Very true. I've heard this numerous times from numerous people. I go to school with guys and know others through them that play to +3.x to +4.x and haven't done much other than maybe the Tarheel Tour and/or Hooters Tour. They give it a run, but it's a whole new ballgame going from local muni's and country clubs to Tour set-ups.
  22. Either one for me. If I play well then I want to follow it up with another good round on Sunday. If I play poorly then I want to turn it around and shoot a good number the following day.
  23. How can you say something like that given the scoring trend that you posted? That's a pretty negative attitude to have towards your game. It seems to me that with the scoring trend that you posted that you should have no problem becoming a 0.0 handicap within the next few years. Granted it will be more difficult to go from a 6 -> 0 than it was to go from 16 -> 6, but that doesn't mean you can't. ( Are you an AmeriCAN or AmeriCANT?
  24. Haha, true. I never thought of it that way. That's kinda neat. Thanks for the ego boost.
  25. The first time that I broke par for 18 holes. I was in between my junior and senior year of high school and had been playing right at 2 years. I was playing in a Chrysler Vince Gill junior tournament during the summer. It was a MISERABLE day. It was muggy and raining, but that wasn't the worst part. I've had problems with my left shoulder and it was bothering me extremely bad that morning. The pain was so bad that I could barely make a swing on the range as I was warming up. I nearly WD, but stayed in it because my dad had worked the night before and came to watch me play. I started birdie-birdie, much to my surprise. At the end of the day I had made a few birdies with a few bogeys. I ended up shooting 1 under to win the tournament by 5 shots. P.S. - My dad stayed throughout the entire round even though he had planned to just walk 9 with my group and then go home to bed. P.S.S. - It was Beaver Brook Country Club which is a private club in Knoxville, TN so needless to say that was the first time I had played the course. The only time I've ever played there for that matter.
