  1. I have logged around 8 rounds with my i20 irons. These irons are so amazing, I have broken my best rounds multiple times. They are the most forgiving irons I have ever hit. I am using the stock stiff shafts (didn't want to spend the extra 30 bucks a shaft for the projectX shafts). Even with the forgiving nature of a players/game improvement iron I am really getting used to working the ball. And you can work the ball with these. And they are very long yesterday a thew a 7 iron 185 yards to a tucked pin behind a bunker to about 4 feet. My previous Adams CB'2 on the same box would have been a 6 and there would be no way to stop the ball that tight. Try the Pings you wont be sorry.
  2. You shouldn't buy anything until you hit them at a demo day or at a local retailer with a good launch monitor. You should also get fit for lie and length those two items are extremely important. I can understand the want to buy new gear and the amount of technology in new clubs can help you learn the game. Get a game improvement or super game improvement iron. Or get good with you current set and beat your friends with them and then make fun of them. The swing is more important then the club but buying new stuff is fun.
  3. After reading this thread I went out to Golfsmith and I picked up a set. These things are comfortable and I mean comfortable. I have had no slipping problems. And you can barely feel these things on your feet. I just wish they were a little better looking! My wife wont shut up about how ugly they are. But I dont care they work.
  4. Make sure you hit the Adams Super Hybrid, its almost like cheating.
  5. I am glad I bought my super hybrid before Taylormade got ahold of it and painted it WHITE! I should have bought stock in white paint and I would be a rich man. THat move would be horrible for Adams in my opinion. Glad I made the switch to Ping!!!!
  6. Do not buy anything until you put in some time at the local golf shop. Go in and speak with the staff tell them about your game and then hit a ton of stuff. I almost bought the new Cobra Amp irons and they are really nice and long. They are game improvement if you can stand all the orange. S3 irons got really good reviews from what I read. It usually takes months for me to settle on a set of irons. As a first time Ping owner they make an amazing product and they last a long time from what I hear. Try to only stick with reputable websites when buying clubs, the fake market is booming. I would hit them at a local shop and if you can find them cheaper online then do that.
  7. I was told that when you go with longer shafts then you are used to then your impact will be a closer to the hosel. I just switched to 1/2 inch longer shafts in the last 2 weeks and the same thing happened to me. Mostly the impact off the hosel. But after about 300 range balls and 3 rounds it feels perfect. Stick with it you will be fine
  8. I tune in every week that they play. LPGA combines my two favorite things in the world women and golf. I bought tickets to their US Open in Colorado springs and went all 4 days. But I am a freak and I will watch anything that is golf related but it is a bit hard to watch the Champions Tour. I even watch the late night commercials on Golf Channel its a good thing my wife doesn't let me have a credit card or I would have every training aid on the planet. And on a side note I played a round at my course the day before the women's Colorado Open and the two ladies who were doing their practice rounds made me look foolish I almost had to quit after 9. I did learn how to manage the course that I have played 200 times.
  9. I could have save $200 on the Scottie Cameron I bought last year!!!!! Man I need to check the internet more often I could have saved over $1000 bucks on all my gear... Its safe to say that the clubs are fake.
  10. Mine got into the game a couple years ago to try to find something we can do together. For the past 3 years we have had a membership and she plays as much as possible (about 40 rounds a year). It's a bit strange getting in trouble for not taking her with me but that's better then getting in trouble for playing too much golf ;). She even walks the course most times. And she isn't even any good at the game but she never slows down pace of play cuz she knows how much that drives me crazy! It is fun watching her get excited after she posts a good score on a hole (there are very few of those)! She even watches Tom Watson lessons of a life time and she loves trying to use the information she gets from it. How many guys get to say their wife has played TPC Las Vegas well I can and I didn't catch any flack for spending the money! Every vacation is planned around golf and she packs light so we don't get killed for checking the clubs on the plane. She attends all PGA and LPGA events with me never complains about following players around the course. She has even mentioned going to the Masters! She does get fed up when I watch 4 days of coverage on the golf channel I guess I shouldn't complain about that ...lol. Golf is the only chance we really get to spend quality time together since I am a cop and I work graveyards. So I am a lucky guy!
  11. I have had my leupold GS4 for 1 year and that thing is amazing. Mine has slop function on it and that comes in handy. After a full season my battery still says full. I have dropped it on the cart path 3 times and it still works perfectly but I would not advise doing that your heart will skip a few beats!!!!! Enjoy it they are a great investment!
  12. I am a first time Ping owner....and my verdict is AWESOME. I recently purchased i20 irons and driver and I have broken my previous best round of 86 with an 85 and 84 in the first 2 rounds. Nothing but down from here. And I must admit that the customer service with Ping is second to none. 7 days from order to the range. I have waited weeks for other orders from other manufacturers.
  13. I find the i20's are more forgiving then the i15's with less offset. I haven't hit the G15's but I love my i20's. I have already broken my previous best round of 86 twice in a week with an 85 and an 84 in mid March. I almost bought the i15 last year but they just didn't feel right to me. It only took about 5 swings with the i20 to ask golfsmith about my trade in.
  14. Ping i20 irons 4-SW, and i20 driver (woops wife is angry) now she gets to buy me a i20 3wood for my birthday.....dang you golfsmith.
  15. Maybe the word destroyed was not the correct choice of words. I meant the bag chatter gets annoying after dropping 1000 bucks on forged irons to show wear after just a few weeks is frustrating. I am arguing the same point I don't see a huge difference from forged and cast. Forged metal is softer then cast and they do show wear faster. I am trying to tell the guy who started the thread to buy what ever he wants. I am pointing out that forged does not work for me because I still like my clubs to look good at the end of the year not from the quality of the product but from how i use them. I do not play out of the fairway as much as I would like. The only reason I even posted on this topic is because the guy who said that a 17 handicap should not play forged irons that is the first time I have ever heard that one.
  16. Just buy what feels the best. I have owned both kinds forged and cast in the last 6 months. I have owned R9 tp (cast)..Mizuno MP 52 (forged muscle cavity)...Nike VR Pro Combo (forged combo of both blades and players cavity) Adams CB2's (forged) and now I own and love Ping i20's. The way I look at it I want an iron in my hands that on a mishit I don't get punished so bad. Cavity irons are still able to "work the ball". I can work the i20's just the same as the forged sets. The big difference is the forgiving nature of game improvement irons. Do forged irons feel better on perfect hit balls the answer is yes. But they feel like crap on a mishit. I walk and carry my clubs, and the bag chatter destroys your forged irons. And I tend to play out of native at times and there is nothing worse then playing a ball out of the crap and getting a big nick in your expensive nice looking forged irons from the hidden pebble or rock that you cannot see. I play 4 times a week and my forged irons look 10 years old after a season. Didn't Kj Choi almost win the master last year with Ping g20's? Didn't Roco Mediate win playing some Callaway shovels a couple years ago? And Mark Wilson has won this year playing i20's. My advice coming from a guy who has spent a small fortune in the last 5 years on golf gear, buy what you fall in love with cast/forged or game improvement/blades or muscle backs cuz you are the one who has to play the irons. I am not sure about the comment about a 17 handicap playing forged irons, who cares?
  17. My i20 with the stock TFC shaft is the longest driver I have ever hit. And it goes straight. I didnt care for the project X. The irons are even better!!!!!!
  18. LOL its so true....funny
  19. I started the year with no intentions of having a 1 brand bag but it appears its going to be that way. I have been a big taylormade guy as long as I have been golfing. The last time I was close to being a 1 brand man was when I had R11 tp driver, R11 tp 3 wood, R11 rescue, R9 tp irons but I did have a scottie Cameron. I started this year looking for irons. My constant pursuit of golf greatness has lead me through every brand of irons on the market. Mizuno mp52, Nike VR pro combo, R9 tp, Adams CB2. Since its a new year I decided to start it with new irons and not make a change in mid season as I always do. Having my R11 woods I figured lets find the irons to compliment them. To make a long story short I just added Ping i20 irons to my bag (best decision I have ever made). And since I got such a good deal trading in a lot of my unused golf gear I decided to get the i20 driver. And since I have only missed 3 fairways in 3 rounds with the driver and finished my round today with a 325 yard drive on 18. I will be getting the i20 3 wood and matching hybrid (both performed great for me in my last 2 trips to golfsmith). But to answer the question I will not be replacing my Taylormade Spider belly putter until they tell me I cant play it anymore. And I also carry a Nike 58* wedge. But I will be as much Ping as possible, first time owner of Ping golf gear and I am not sure I will go back to the marketing giant that is Taylormade. It seems they drop a new line of gear ever 6 weeks or so and that should save me some money in the long run :).
  20. I just returned from the range and let me tell you the i20 driver is an absolute monster. It is sits square at address and the the white groves on the face make alignment effortless. I usually miss on the toe or low heel, today I only missed 2 balls off the sweet spot. I am using the TFC stock shaft stiff and my lust has turned into love. Do yourself a favor and try the driver you will not be sorry. I know this isn't a thread about irons but the i20 irons are amazing.
  21. Mine arrives today along with my i20 irons. I only owned my i15 driver for about 3 weeks (got it used for $90) and the i20 crushed the i15 and my R11 TP. This is my first real experience with Ping and so far I am impressed with their customer service. I placed my order on 03-02-12 and 7 days later they will be in my hands. I waited over 3 weeks for my Adams CB2's to arrive. And since I don't have irons or driver in my bag a 7 day turn around goes a long way with me. And the black finish is soooooo sweet.
  22. First time Ping owner......i20 irons and i20 driver they arrive today. I tried to not like them but they just perform. Now we will see how they perform on the course.
