1) Making consistent solid contact with the ball 2) Distance control 3) Hitting a straight putt 4) Reading the greens for breaks and speed 5) Making it all work under pressure to win a major championship The above are to me the fundamental of putting, the other factor that compliments a great putter is a great short game that will allow you to have 23 putts per 18 holes to shoot a low score.

Playing 18 holes tomorrow, 2/21, Monday on Presidents Day Holiday with my 16 year old son and his golf team mate. They are both playing on the High School Varsity Golf Team. I looking forward to the time playing together. His games is coming around, last outing for 9 holes he shot 4 over. I better practice before we go out. I will expect him to out drive me but we will have fun with some spirited competition. We will have a match play game and if for every hole he beats me he gets $1 and the back nine it doubles to $2.

How to improve my practice sessions
ks8829 replied to mattshaver's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Have fun and have realistic expectations when you practice. I always try to focus on putting, chipping around the green and from 10, 20 yards from the hole to help me get up and down to make birdie, save par or even to save boogie with a one putt. What part of your game do you want to improve? at 36 index if you are shooting 108 or 6 shots per hole, the short game will help you break 100 consistently. How many putts per round? How many up and downs to one putt? How about practicing putting and chiping around the green when you practice and forget the driving range. The money you save at the range can go to lessons. -
Merry Christmas Jesus, Happy Holidays, wishing everyone a healthy, safe, prosperous, and low scoring New Year in 2011!

I just bought a Samsung Epic 4g and downloaded a new app for fitness and it has a pediometer and calculates calories burned from walking, so my next round I will try to remember to turn it on and see how many calories are burned simply by the walking.

I played once a week and my practice sessions have been mainly on the putting green and short shots from 50 yards and in. This has help keep my game sharp and maintain my handicap. The short chips and pitches focusing on making solid contact has helped my overall swing as well.

fantastic ideal, you are both blessed. Last time we played, He shot 82 and I shot 90, I will try to focus more on my game instead of watching him play, I guess. I told him, I would pay him $1 for every hole he beats me.

going out to play 18 holes with my 16 year old son this Thursday while he's off on winter break.

I just bought 6 boxes of the Noodle N LTD Limited for $8 a box and they play well for the winter time for me.

distance control is the most important part of putting to eliminate three putts. What helps me with distance control is two simple keys 1) I use my feet as a measurement tool for distance that I take my putter back too to help judge distance control 2) I always follow through with the same distance on each putt, keeping the same tempo. The only time I will not do this is will very short putts within 3 feet. I found that this is the easiest way for me to judge consistent distance and able to repeat it on the course each time. 3) practice, practice and more practice will help you become a better, consistent putter and general will help build confidence. 4) pre-putt routine everytime.

I still watch my putter as it goes back, just an old habit. I consider myself a good putter with about 30 putts per round, give or take two strokes. It's how I always putted and I am comfortable doing it.

I love my mp33s and they are pretty forgiving for blades, I've been playing them for about 5 years.

Last year, I exercised everyday and watched what I ate. Currently, I am simply watching what I eat, more vegetable, reduced red meat and portion and have lost 8 pounds over a period of about 2 months without exercising everyday, but a round of golf walking 18 holes.

Putting is two parts 1) distance control 2) hitting a straight putt. I love putting and it currently my strongest part of my game, my average is 30 putts for 18 holes. The distance control is easy to control with keeping the same follow through on all putts and judge the distance with the lenght of my back stroke. For straight putts, I keep my putter head low to the ground and my follow through I focus on keeping the putter face square to the target. a great drill is using string with stakes on both ends and putting down the line.

my son tried out for the Varsity Basketball team but missed the cut, he tried out and gave it his best, he said that it was demoralizing but at the same time if he made the team and practiced 6 days of week and sat on the bench most of the season, thats no fun either. He has more time for studies and golf now.

I am considering a front projection from Panasonic, a PT AE4000 with a Focupix 120'' screen for about $2,500 vs a the price of a Plasma Pansonic 65" TV that runs about $2,000. I have a large family room that is 23 feet wide and 30 feet long with a adjoining kitchen, 9 foot ceiling with two large window approximately 72" x 59" that I will black out.

I am back to my forged blade putter from Yonex ADX 33" similar to the one Phil played many years ago. I love the feel at impact but the chrome is too shiny on sunny days. I usually have putts near 30 per round, with my best round with the putter is 4 straight birdies.

I started using parchment paper between the pizza stone and pizza and it works well to slide the pizza on and remove. I am also starting to roll the dough thinner for a New York style pizza, my family likes it

Anybody own a front projection TV with 1080p for daily TV, movie watching and PS3 gaming for the kids? I have a large family room that is approximately 20 feet wide by 32 feet long that can handle a front projection. 1) What is the cost? 2) How good is the picture compared to Plasma or LCD? 3) Do you need to room to be pitch dark? 4) How is regular channel and HD channels 5) How is Blue Ray films 6) How are PS3 games or X box games in HD? 7) Do you recommend front projection if you have the room 8) Estimated life of the front projector? Thanks in advance for your comments.

Plasma cost more to purchase? The 65 inch tv is asking $1,999,000.

Plasma, LCD or LED TVs? Pros and cons? My son plays videos games and I like to watch BLU Ray discs so I need the 1080p with the high refresh rate. I have a large family room so I need to get a 60+ inch TV and a smaller one for my son, maybe 32 or 40 inch TV. Any recommendations? thanks in advance for your replies. I am looking at the Panasonic 65 Plasma and maybe the LC or Insignia 32 or 37 inch LED/LCD with 120hz.

10/19/10 Plan to walk another 3 miles today, I felt great after yesterdays 3 mile walk, the only problem I experienced was after the walk, I was so hungry that I ate everything in sight. I will try to control myself today. I am playing and walking 18 holes tomorrow so I will work on my chipping and putting later.
-
10/18/10 - I walked 3 miles, jogging about 1/4 mile I am trying to get back into the exercise routine, building up my legs and stamina for the back nine. I will try to add some light weight and pilates to stretch out. All my exercise is for health but also geared towards golf.
