  1. A bad tooth ache will put you mentally out of a game. Why fight the pain and struggle to even stay focused? I understand play through to the end, but if he hurt his ankle and walked off this would not be an issue. An injury is an injury. This is all based on if he is telling the truth. If he mentally quit because he was going to shoot in the 80s, then shame on him. I am not a fan, but I will not hold this against him while the only thing we know is he is in pain from his tooth. I wouls stop playing myself. Every step would be painful with a busted tooth.
  2. Just saw this post. Hope no one minds me bringing this up. But, I was supposed to play that course on that day. A friend and I decided to try a different course but told no one. So half way though our round our phones blew up with people worried we might have been shot. We could not believe that happened and were happy we made a last minute change.
  3. Pecan Valley was a fun course. I love the layout and it was always in nice condition. I played it last just before it closed down. At first it was only going to be closed for a short time, but it is still closed. Golf Club of Texas is less than $40 and is one of the best layouts. Very fun and never busy. I was a member for a year, but they started repairing a lot of the course and was not in great condition. Seems fine now. Cedar Creek, about $45, awesome muni course. SA has about 10 courses under $50 and most are not too bad. Some are boring and some are not well maintained. But stick with these and the muni courses and you will be jsut fine.

My old bag was a Ping from ages ago. Golf Shoes Nike Footjoy
  5. Black pants/shorts typically White w/ black stripes...teal w/ white stripes....red with white stripes shirt Black belt (used to have a white belt, but broke) White shoes with some black and teal
  6. Putting, chipping, and putting
  7. Shiner - in a can Xingu - Brazilian black lager
  8. Best muni in San Antonio, Brackenridge Park Golf Course. 6200 yards, par 71, squared off greens, great fun, would love to get out there with persimmon clubs.
  9. Best cheap course in San Antonio would be Canyon Springs. I played last weekend for $45.
  10. I broke the shaft of my driver and while waiting for warranty work being completed, I used my wood and hybrid a lot. In a short time I improved drastically with those clubs. And since I was 30-40 yards shorter than usual, I was using my long irons more. Therefore, I was improving those clus too. I would say this is a good idea until you work the kinks of your driver. What sucks is, the course I used to play oten has a few holes that have a 200 yard carry over a hazard. And with wind that are typically over 20 mph makes tee shots very scary.
  11. I work with mostly 20 year olds and the reason they have no attraction to play golf is the time. Most people these days can't spend 5 hours away from their phones, computers, TV, or what have you. The cost will always be an issue. Some people can't see spending $1000 for clubs, bag, balls and so on. But, it is so easy to buy used these days. My first set was used. I got everything for $200 at most. I used those for a year before I saved enough for a proper set. I sold those and went back to used clubs, but they are nice. My wife bought me a new bag last year, and Dick's always has nice deals. So, with patience, you can get into golf pretty cheap. It is a tough game, no doubt, but if you do not have the time to devote to golf, you will not be any good at it. So, it being a tough game to me flls back on not having tme. Rules too complicated; well they can be. But, you can still go out on a cheap public course and just count your strokes. If I lose a ball, drop and continue. If you are out there having fun...I do not see the issue with worrying about all the rules. I am sure some here does nt like this, but my playing partner uses his foot often in a round. Let him have fun...I will count all my strokes. And at the end of the day, I know who won. The amount of location to play/practice can be an issue, but I grew up in Boca Raton and now live in San Antonio. BR is nearly half golf courses, and SA has a TON of public courses that you can play for less that $50...and a few are really nice. Anyways, I think the biggset deterance is time. I love golf, but sometimes I am too busy to play. I would love to be able to play golf at night.
  12. If there are broken tees I use them, if not I go without. I'll look for a tall piece of grass, but I do not worry too much about it.
  13. I use all my clubs, but I may only use my 52, 9, 7, and 3 wood once or twice. I really like my 8 iron and will use it a lot around 150 yards. I hit my hybrid so well, the wood is not of great use. I think I should buy a new one and gain some yardage.
  14. The score does not show how happy I was with this round. I had 7 boogies and a par. So, I played a half a good round. The 3 snowmen included drops. The greens were incredibly fast. I rarely 3 putt, but I did so 7 times. I hit 5 farways, but was never really in trouble or too far off from the fairway.
  15. Over the weekend, I scored 110 and 102. I have not been playing for months due to injury. So, I should be getting out there once a week and the scores should drop to mid/ow 90s in a couple of months.
  16. Here is the setting; I missed the green and was about 6 ft from the edge of the green. But, the green was about 4 ft above the ball. Only option for me was a flop. Well, it was perfect. The ball landed about 1 foot to the left of the hole and rolled towards the hole leaving about 4 inches for a tap in par. It was the best flop shot I ever made. What makes it better, the hole before I pitched and run to the edge of the hole from 30 ft away for another tap in par. Two exceptional shots, for me, in 2 consecutive holes.
  17. Yeah, I started both. Brandt the first day, and Tiger the last 3. Worked out fine for me, but the rest of my starters did not do well compared to other line ups
  18. Another 1.5 miles. Starting off better than I thought
  19. aside from the slow pace, this is starting off to be really fun to watch. Seeing the pros struggle like I do makes me feel better. Never mind the fact the weather is crazy
  20. Damn, they swept the scores. I guess it is fair, but tomorrow looks like crap weather again. I really enjoyed watching, and wished I was out there to have fun. Oh well. By the way, my avatar is the model that was the tee box last year at this event. I liked that so much I went out and found one for myself. I am not a Hyundai fan, I am a collector of diecast cars. It was cool to have something that brings golf and diecasts together.
  21. My doctor has finally cleared me to run again. It has been a long 6 months. So I went for a 1.5 mile run followed by 10 minutes of 40 yard sprints.
  22. And now another suspension in play, but should be quick. This weather is absolutely crazy.
  23. Wow, tough conditions, I love watching play like this. It will take a player at his best to score well. And just seeing Dufner take an unplayable from the bunker. I can't think of seeing that in a while.
  24. Without trying to get to much into fashion, I always use the players as a guide to style on a course. But, if everyone starts wearing Nike, buying golf clothes will become easier. Nike is getting the best players to wear their gear. What a change in the years.
