Shorts if weather will be 60 degrees or more for at least half the round (will start with pullovers), long pants if under 60 for more than half the round. Wore long pants more times this winter than I had the last 5 years combined. Combination of cold weather almost every Saturday morning this year and joing a group that tees off a bit earlier than I used to.

Where to get a wrench to adjust clubs?
meenman replied to s1rGr1nG0's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I would say be careful about buying from places like ebay. Dropped my Titleist wrench a few months ago and it snapped. Picked one up on ebay for around $8 (came with documentation), not saying it was fake, but first time I used it, it snapped the screw in my driver. -
From what I hear and the little research i have done - it is compatible with more phones and sounds like a decent product. A little small for my taste, but I have always owned the largest phone screen and like my watch a bit obnoxious. I do think it will do well, especially with those that choose to use an androind phone that is not a samsung. Just dont mention *pebble* if you are creating apple watch apps or the will kick you out of their app store. The thing is with watches, when the apple one hits the streets, all *smartwatch* companies will benefit - it is better to be 10% of the market with millions sold than to be 75% with thousands sold. I'll be honest - apple only irks me because I was one of the few with a smart watch and it was a great conversation piece with my customers - now everyone will have them and i will just be one of many.

When was the last time you thought about a SIM card after putting it in a phone/tablet/watch? You guys with tiny phones can keep them on you all day long, unless i am wearing deep pocketed khakis or shorts, my phone is just going to fall out - i go blind trying to use my ipod touch for any extended period of time. Bottom line - a samsung watch is as useful to you as an apple is for me - since both are only compatible with their own kind. I am not anti-apple and may have even been on your side if apple had not stuck with one cell carrier for so long. I will disagree with *not being it's own phone line is better* - but it isnt anything that any other apple owner wouldnt say. I beat the hell out of my watch and still have 20-30% left on it after it being off of the charger 15-18 hours.

How Often Do You Replace… Your Putter?
meenman replied to iacas's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
A bit too often, but recently my hand has been forced by powers with too much control. Started out with a basic Nike mallet, went to a Scotty Newport for about 3 years, 2.5 years with a Scotty broomstick and for a little over a year have been using an Odyssey Metal-X arm lock. -
How Often Do You Replace… Your Hybrids?
meenman replied to iacas's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Not very often, but have not always carried hybrids - for years I just had a Nickent 3DX and a 4DX, stopped playing hybrids for a bit and leaned on a 9 wood. In the past 6 months I have gone back to hybrids with a 3+4 Callaway x-hot and a 6 X2 hot. -
How Often Do You Replace… Your Irons?
meenman replied to iacas's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
A very odd ball average. Nike Slingshot OSS for 6 months, original Titleist AP1's for a little over 5 years, Callaway X-hots for a little over a year before going to the X2 hots which I have now had for about a year and am not looking to replace. -
How Often Do You Replace… Your Driver?
meenman replied to iacas's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Average is just over 2 years, but there have been some glitches in that plan, Had the Nike Sumo for 6 months, Titleist 907 D2 for 2 years, Titleist 910 for 3.5 years until screw snapped, Now my 913 D2 screw snapped after a year so I have picked up a Big Bertha while it gets fixed, not sure which driver I am keeping when it comes back. -
Anchored Putters Rules Change (Effective January 1, 2016)

Arm lock - odyssey and betinardi have some nice ones. Odyssey ones can be found cheaper. -
In my bag, my biggest worry is to turn my watch off of vibrate mode so it doesnt vibrate with some junk email during my swing. I play with guys that are expected to answer emails 7 days a week - i just wont let them drive the cart anymore.
-
Actually Fore Golf is down to the 13 clubs they own, with the majority in Florida and the rest I believe being in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area along with one in Ohio. In Florida the prices are reasonable but have been told a bit higher in DC.

Our club just actually lowered our monthly dues while finally advertising single memberships (for as long as I can remember it was family only) My dues went down $40/month and they added an F+B minimum of $30/month - which will not affect me since that $30 can be spent on the cart girl during one bad round plus I eat and drink there every week anyway. Since getting my guys to move up to the gold tees, we have a much bigger circle of who to play with and now know everyone we could be paired up with in tourneys. The one thing my club lacked was a significant amount of high handicappers playing from the whites. (the tee boxes were always an age thing and a bit of selling had to be done to allow us to move up) 6000 yards may feel a little short to us but 6500 was too long. Our GM feels that the future of private clubs is modest dues with maybe a slightly higher cart fee - but people will need a membership to play at these clubs.

Anchored Putters Rules Change (Effective January 1, 2016)
meenman replied to mvmac's topic in Rules of Golf
For me, I long ago adjusted to the arm lock style and sold the old broomstick while I could still get something for it. But, playing with an older gentleman this past weekend, I really felt bad. Mind you this guy still works and only plays once a week with the group, but his transition has not been good. He recently put away the broomstick so he will not be handcuffed and dragged off of the course come January 2016, had his broomstick cut down to short putter size and just can not putt the ball. Words can not describe his putting motion. Last tournament the guy had 8 3 putts and I am not sure how the ball ever went in. I am really going to feel like an a-hole this weekend since he is my first round match play championship opponent and there is no way I can concede even a 2 foot putt to him unless I am out of the hole. I know the USGA will never miss my $35/year due to their decision, but they have to be kind of desperate to offer me the same membership for $10/year now. -
I wear my gear s when I play and for some strange reason, the wrist pain I have felt for years is gone. Whether it is in my head or real, I will stick with what is working.

Not sensitive at all, just trying to understand others viewpoints . Shouldn't that be ok on a message board?
What's wrong with trying to understand the pros and cons of each?
Bingo!

I am hearing rumors that some seem to think an apple watch is better because it can not take phone calls when out of range of it's phone. These ideas and viewpoints tend to totally baffle me, so hopefully someone here can explain to me why a watch that is not a separate phone is better than one that is. For the record, I am no apple hater, nor am i a Samsung fan boy. I love my ipod 5 as much as I like my Samsung note Edge and Samsung Gear S.
-
Thankfully? Am I at a disadvantage because I can answer a call while leaving my phone home or while walking in the backyard with my phone inside? Mind you, the phones last a lot longer using bluetooth (in my tests, 18 hours with bluetooth and heavy use vs 8 hours without using bluetooth.) Mine is always connected to my phone except when I I walk away from its range. I get that you like apple better but you can not pretend that the watch also being a separate line is not a better feature.
-
Are the apple watches a separate phone line like the Samsung Gear S? I will say that the phone battery has been dramatically saved since I got the watch, not a necessity, but a nice luxury. At least once all the apple peeps get theirs, people will stop asking me about mine.

Our Saturday morning foursomes tend to average 3:15 rounds. On Fridays, i try to get behind a foursome so I can enjoy a few beers and cigars - if there is no one behind me, I will not tee off until the group in front of me has left the green and will putt until 12-15 minutes have passed their leaving - I am there to escape reality, not to run a race.
-
Happened to me in last year's club championship with rain that normally would have closed the course. From front bunker plugged into top of back bunker, anywhere I dropped, the ball would have rolled closer to the hole. Looking back, I should have have played the ball backwards out of the bunker - worst case scenario, I would have dug a hole big enough for the ball to roll forward instead of taking the 14 I took on that hole.

Taylormade Speedblades vs Callaway X2 Hot
meenman replied to jerbwarren's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
x2 hot - they just get the ball up in the air no matter how hard i try to f it up -
Superior to what? winning ONE super bowl since then - quite a few teams have done that and one has even won TWO.
-
on that i disagree, because *belicheat* is more likely true than *everyone else was doing it, but the world wants to pick on us* and one that i will never get tied of - *18-1*
-
which pretty much makes them guilty. the whole new england chant of *everyone is doing it, we are the only ones dumb enough to get caught* is weak and old at this point
-
If it wasnt cheating, no draft pick would have been lost and the fines would not have existed, they were fortunate enough that goodell was in on it by destroying the tapes. If a real deflateglate investigation takes place and belicheat and co are found innocent, then they will have their first legitimate super bowl win.
