I found a bunny head on the golf course... Yep, an honest to God rabbits head!! No body.... It startled the hell out of me.... I almost kicked it as I was walking in the left ruff towards my ball. I've also found a "pile" of feathers where are a bird USED to be... YUK!

Cast or forged does not matter if both clubs are made from the same "kind" of metal. If you get a cast club made with hard brittle steel, they will feel hard and brittle. Additionally, hard brittle cast clubs will have grooves so SHARP, that you will skin the cover off your golf ball when you hit a good full shot. It goes a lot deeper than just cast or forged metallurgically speaking...

If I was limited to going over once... which just may be the case for me... I would HAVE to go to Scotland. It's the home of golf... you gotta go there first (just in case you never make it back). Some day.... some day....

I loved it when that one "announcer" said that the game was getting a little chippy! I'll tell you why it was getting chippy. The upstart Super Bowl ROOKIE Cardinal players kept running their mouths! Against a veteran SIX TIME Super Bowl Championship team, the Steelers were only going to take that crap for so long. It's a 'Burgh thang. You're losing the game, and you keep running your mouth! Well guess what? You're gonna get punched in the mouth! The refs and the camera man always get the SECOND guy... The Cardinals played VERY well, and I was surprised how good their team really is. I know it was their first time and all that. But like the old saying goes... "Act like you've been there before"!

The standard seems to be that there is no standard. There is no standard on loft from club to club, let alone length, lie and grip size. The Ralph Maltby (Not Roger) books and web site have a ton of information on club fitting and "standard" sizes. The info Ralph has compiled is overwhelming! Each manufacturer has their own standard, I guess that's why a lot of them have their own "club fitting" processes, just for the reason you are describing.

Well, Phil may be the next "Walrus". Maybe his too tight shirt was messing up his swing. He sucked yesterday (Thursday) and all he could do is SMILE!! Wassup with that!?!?!? I like the guy. I hope he does well. I want him to challenge Tiger. I know we all don't have the same body we had years ago, but Phil seems to be on a steady decline, and if he wants to continue not showing up at golf tournament at the beginning of the year, he is gonna have to get on the stick!

In my golf league, we have a by-law that states that the league will play from the tees that are closest to 6,300 yards. That being said, I will play from the tips when ever I'm not playing in the league.

The cheapest way to increase your swing weight is to add "length" to the club (1/2 an inch will add about 3 whole swing weights... i.e. D0 becomes D3). Shaft extenders, and new grips are much cheaper than buying a new set of shafts or clubs. Lead tape is cheap, but it "boogers" up your clubs. The only down side to making your clubs longer is, the extra length also makes your shaft flex a little "softer" (i.e. more whip). There is almost an infinite number of possible combinations, but the "hunt" can be half the fun... Good Luck!

I feel your pain! Up north, I can putt better than most, but as soon as I go to Fla, I'm lost! It's a terrible feeling when you stand over a putt, and you know you missed it before you even hit it! I get tortured for a week, once a year, and then I go home. But this time of year, I wouldn't miss the opportunity to miss putts for anything! Stupid game... But I DO LOVE IT!!

I've been playing golf for 25 years... I shot 68 once....

Overlap vs Interlock vs Baseball Grips
TommyD69 replied to mcflynn's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
USUALLY.... If you have "short" fingers use the interlock grip. If you have long fingers, use the overlap grip. It's really not good to switch back and forth between grips. Pick one and stick with it. Using either grip will eventually cause you (because you are human) to fall into bad habits. Pay attention to all your fundamentals including your grip when you are playing. Good Luck! -
You never stop! I don't care who you are! Additionally, all you need to do is HEAR THE WORD $h@nk and you will do it... for the rest of the day!!!! You can think it..... JUST DON'T SAY IT! I have tried the 2X4 thing, or even a shoe box, but to me this only addresses the symptoms but not the cause of the dreaded “Hozell” shot (as Tin Cups caddy called it… he wouldn’t say it either). I believe that when you "carry your hands too low" in the hitting area, they force the club head away from your body, and brings the neck into the ball SHHHHHHIVER!!!! Look at good players hands at impact, centrifugal force is pulling the hands down (at the wrists) towards the ground (forming almost a straight line between your forearms and the shaft of the club), which I believe is where you want them to be. Any manipulation on your part to try and "maintain the address angle" of your forearms and the club shaft at impact will force the club head out away from you. Try it at address. Carry your hands low at address and the club will get longer.... Carry your hands higher at address and the club gets shorter. But, remember what Harvey Penick said, “this is a one aspirin fix, don’t take the whole bottle”. You still want to maintain a good angle AT ADDRESS between your forearms and the club shaft. Just let centrifugal force work for you in the hitting zone. This is what I believe to be true, and in my case, it definitely DOES work. Your findings may vary, but keep trying, and GOOD LUCK!

That's my point, do I let this guy bend my clubs while I'm not there, then pick them up, try them out, and find they are WRONG. Take them back, wait 2 or 3 days, pick them up, try them out, and find out they are WRONG again et cetera, et cetera. Me bring there changes the session to a dynamic rather than a static fitting. We will only have to do it once. It's called customer service. I didn't say I was unwilling to pay more for a custom fitting (you make it sound like it's a terrible thing to ask for), I said I did not want all the "stuff" that comes with a "one size fits all" club fitting where I am paying for Doppler radar and who knows what else that I don't need.

How do you mark your Titleist(or any other golf ball)?
TommyD69 replied to WTCC_golf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I mark my Titleist like Darren Clark does (or maybe he marks his ball like me!) I color in three dimples in the shape of a triangle, then draw a small vertical line under that, so that it looks like a "three leaf clover" or "CLUB mark". -
I don't want to watch them work. I want him to bend each club, give it to me (right there on the stop) and have me swing it on a "lie board" to make sure the lie is right for me. I dunno about you, but I am NOT an off the rack guy when I buy my suites, nor am I an off the rack guy when it comes to my clubs. Bending "standard" lofts (which there is no such thing) I guess I understand I don't need to be there, but how can you fit my clubs to me if I'm NOT there!?!?

+10 I have been playing golf a LONG time! When I started, the only choices I had were Wilson, Spaulding, or North Western (remember those?). There were only blades, and some had soles as thick as the "top line" of your game improvement clubs. The WORSE thing in the world FOR ME is to hold up an iron, and see an offset so big that the club face is an inch behind the clubs shaft! I love the small forged club heads. They make you "aim small, and miss small"...

I have a set of Titleist Tour Blades that are around 15 years old. I bought them used at least 10 years ago. I love these clubs! But, over the years the lofts and lies have "moved". It's a natural thing with forged clubs, and periodically, the loft and lie of each club should be checked. I can't find ANYBODY (willing to think outside the box) to do this! I contacted a major golf retailer (name withheld) who has a loft and lie machine. They do "club fitting", they also do club repair. When I asked the guy if he could "bend my clubs", he said, "well, you will have to leave them here for a couple of days". WHAT!?!???! I said I wanted to be there when they bent my clubs, but alls he said was "you will have to leave them here a couple of days". Isn't that like a tailor making you a suit while your not there? Another TECH place said the same thing, except that it would be 4 or 5 days because they were so busy. They also told me that it was $5 a club. I was OK with that. So, I told the guy, I wanted to be there when the clubs were being bent... Ya know, like a club fitting.... DING DING DING... OK he says, we can do that, but you have to make an appointment. I'm OK with that. Then he says, that will cost $105. I'm thinking, well, I'm OK with that too. So I say, that is "all inclusive right"? I get a long silence, then he says "yes... plus the $5 per club"..... HUH!!?!?!?!? I don't need the Doppler radar to tell me how far my clubs go, I need to swing my clubs on a board to get the right lie for ME (not the lie from the Titleist web site), I also want the lofts "tweaked" slightly. Isn't there ANYONE who can loft and lie my clubs, and NOT be an "operational thinker" at the same time? Trapped in Cleveland

Notah Begay had a putt to shoot 58 some years ago on the old Nation Wide Tour. He missed it, but still shot 59.

Definitely The Little Red Book by Harvey Penick. Good old down home simple to understand. I have MANY page corners folded down for quick reference. It's a keeper!

Sorry, our constitution says that you have to be 18 years of age. Keep us in mind when you are 18. We have players from all over the greater Cleveland and Akron areas.
