  1. That's some good advice there. Well maybe not advice but a good way to look at things. Now that means I'll never get a new/better set of clubs.
  2. Like others I could have choosen a couple different ones I choose "Other". The thing that keeps me off the course is life. Things don't always work out to where I can get out and play. I have been wanting to play a certain course that is close to me. It's a $45/18 course. One of the more expensive ones close to me. I had a coupon to play it for half price. Well it was buy one get one greens fee. So it was pretty much half price. Well I made plans to play with my cousin, brother, and grandpa. Well it got closer to time to play and everyone had something come up that we weren't able to play.
  3. My dad has a couple of these and they are great dogs. I love them. We had one for 13 years I think and it passed away a couple of years ago. When ever she heard the garage door open she would run around looking for a toy to bring to who ever was going to be coming through the door. Well that was when she was a little younger. I currently have a Bassett Hound and wouldn't trade her for the world. My next dog (if there is one) will most likely be a Golden. I love those dogs.
  4. Most of the time I play, I play at at Municiple course and it's like $15/18 walking. I usually golf with my grandpa and he likes to walk so it's all good. I do however play in a tournament at work and it's usually $50 for greens fees, cart, and lunch. Last year we played a course that is usually $50 and I played and had lunch for $50.
  5. Those two or Morgan Pressel. I think I might have to check out the LPGA tour when it comes around town this year. I better take a towel though or the course will be flooded.
  6. Gatorade and twinkies. Drink the gatorade first and then enjoy the twinkies. I don't think the twinkies do much but they are good. I did some drinking one weekend and had to get up and go do some yard work. I lived 5 miles from where I was doing the yard work. I stopped at a gas station and picked up some Gatorade and twinkies and by the time I got to where I was going I was feeling much better. The Gatorade rehydrates you quicker than water. I'm sure if you drank a bottle of Gatorade before going to bed you might feel fine in the morning. Remember to enjoy responsibly.
  7. I haven't had one yet but I dream the night before I play that I will have atleast one the next day. So far my dreams have been dashed everytime. One of these times it will happen though. You've got to stay positive.
  8. My bag has 5 dividers. When I put my clubs in there I was just putting them in there. Some of you guys scare me with the way you've set up your bag. My clubs do however go in the same holes but not always in the same order. Here's how I have it set up: Top: 3-wood, 5-wood (The Judge) although I hit it like a court jester, and 3 iron Middle Right: 4-6 iron Middle Left: 7-9 iron Bottom Right: S-wedge, Alien wedge Bottom Left: P-wedge, Putter All my clubs have covers on them also except for the P-wedge and the Alien wedge. The one time I let me sister caddie for me she lost the cover for the P-wedge.
  9. I think it's an isolated incident. This is the first I've heard of a golfer calling out another golfer. I think he needed to be called out for what he has said and the way he has acted.
  10. I have been playing for a while but I have never played with a handicap. How does it work in tournament play? I played in a tournament over the summer and the top team beat the fourth place team by 19 strokes. The top three teams were close and everyone else was blown away. I was just wondering if maybe they were using their handicap's and everyone else was just playing their score. I was just wondering how the handicap works into your score. Thanks for all your insight.
  11. I chose other. I'm not sure of the make of my bag. I did see a bag at Dick's Sporting Goods the other day that I liked. It was a Callaway camo bag. It was pretty nice. Just not sure that a $130 bag will improve my game much.
  12. If he ever does an episode of Cribs on MTV then we will know what he drives. I've seen some pretty sweet rides on that show. I'm sure what ever it is it's a sweet ride. Now watch it be a late 70's Ford Pinto.
  13. I used a simulator at a sporting goods store over the weekend and didn't feel comfortable hitting at 100%. You could always try it out and see if you are comfortable hitting in one. It might be your thing but it's not for me.
  14. I don't know much about the guy but from what I've read recently he is a bone head. His excuse for withdrawing it pretty weak too.
  15. I went over to Dick's on Friday night. I looked over the two sets of clubs that I mentioned in my original post. The set of Irons are the Raw Distance set. The set is 3-PW, with graphite shafts. I didn't try these ones out. I figured $250 for them was a good price but I could get a full set for $50 more. I did try the Wrath set out. I don't know that I like the simulators. I didn't feel comfortable hitting into it so it showed on my swings and "distances". The clubs felt good. They felt lighter than my current set. I ended up hitting the Driver (which I would probably use very little), 3 wood, 3 iron hybrid, and 5 iron. I found out one of the kinks in my swing/stance is that I stand to far back. I decided after hitting these clubs that I'm going to wait to buy new clubs until next year. I won a $100 Visa gift card at my company Christmas party that I was going to use towards buying these clubs. I decided that I'll take that money and get out on the course some more this coming year and then next year I'll ask for gift cards/money for Christmas to purchase my new clubs. Maybe I'll find another good set this time next year or they will have these Wrath's priced a little lower.
  16. I'm 25 and I've been "playing" for about 12 years off and on.
  17. Thanks for the idea. I'll check with them after the first of the year because I'm sure this is a super busy time for them.
  18. That's very possible. In the past I've always just bought what I wanted for Christmas. That way I got what I wanted. I think this year my sister in law is getting me a "Brutus" head cover.
  19. I hope this is the correct place to put this question. Have any of you put on/set up a benefit tournament? Earlier this year I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. I walked in their "Step out to Figth Diabetes" walk this year but I was trying to think of other ways to raise money for them and I thought about doing something I like. So I figured I'd look into the possibility of having a tournament with all money going to the local chapter of the Diabetes Association. What are some of the things I need to think about before going about this. It would benefit just about everyone. The Diabetes Association would get money for research and everything and everyone that played would get some exercise and hopefully have a good time. I know I will have to find a course/club that will let me use their course. I will also have to find sponsors to help pay for the course rental and possibly some door prizes. What else do I need to think about? Thanks in advance everyone.
  20. I couldn't answer this poll with one of the options. My wife would never buy me anything for golf. Well outside of maybe some tee's or a towl or something like that. She wouldn't know where to start with clubs or anything like that. Hopefully she would be able to pick up a club for a right hander so atleast she would get that part right. I'm currently working on getting her to "buy" my a new set of clubs for Christmas. I think they will be a late gift because in Ohio it gets a little more difficult to play in the winter. They are currently calling for 2-4" of snow this weekend. I wonder what the chances of me talking her into a new set of clubs plus moving south to where it's warmer are?
  21. I was going to start a thread like this but found this one after looking on other pages. Like most other things in my life I had to go to someone else to learn the game of golf. I had an interest in the game for a long time. Mostly I just liked hitting the ball and seeing how far I could hit it. Then one day when I was in Tennessee visiting my Aunt and Uncle I went to the golf course with my Uncle to "caddy". Mostly I just rode around in the cart and watched. The following year for my birthday my Uncle made me a set of golf clubs. Since then I've really had an interest in the game. I remember my first trip to Tennessee after finding out I was getting golf clubs for my birthday. My Uncle took me to a driving range and we spent probably 2 hours there hitting golf balls. He showed me how to hit all the clubs and then we practiced putting. Then when we got back to their house I hit some more golf balls in their back yard. I was excited to have my own set of clubs. That spring/summer my mom signed me up for free golf lessons from the City Parks and Rec Department. These classes covered everything from the rules to hitting the ball. For one summer I played just about every weekend with my other Aunts and Uncles that lived here in Ohio. My family would make trips down to Tennessee every summer and I would make sure I took my clubs with me so I could play the course that my Aunt and Uncle lived on or any other course my Uncle wanted to play. He usually beat me pretty badly. Him and I had some fun together. I played a couple really nice courses down there with him. So I guess you could say I've been playing for about 10-12 years. I enjoy the time I spend on the course no matter how good or bad I play. To date my favorite round of golf I've played was a few summers back me, my cousin, my little brother and my grandpa played together. My cousin and I took the afternoon off of work and met up with my grandpa and my brother and played. It was probably the best time I've had on the course.
  22. Welcome to the site. I'm a new guy around here to. I've noticed there are a lot of good guys around here. I'm sure they are willing to help when ever they can.
  23. Congrats to your son. I've never come close to a hole in one. Heck I've never seen someone hit one. I'm sure at some point I will see it happen though. That would have to be a huge thrill for the both of you. He probably wouldn't have picked a better friend to share the experience with. ps-Banish me to the putting green only if it's a no-no to bring up old threads.
  24. They do have a set of demo's that I can hit but I'm not sure if they are the Wrath's or not. Like I said I'll be going over there Friday so I'll look at them again. They have some golf balls on sale I want to pick up for a Christmas gift.
  25. I did a quick search here and on Google and can't find any information about Slazenger golf clubs. Does anyone use them? Has anyone used them? I'm looking to "upgrade" my current set. I seen a set of Slazenger Irons at Dick's Sporting Goods but I'm not sure I want to spend $250 (marked down from $399) on a set of irons when I can buy a complete set of clubs for $50 more. Dick's currently on line has a set of Slazenger Wrath clubs for $299. I made the rookie mistake when I was at DSG the other day and didn't get the "model" of the irons I was looking at. I will be going back on Friday night so I'll look then. What do you all think? Any suggestions on clubs that I should look at? I'd like to keep it around $300-$350 for a set. Does anyone know the possibility of them throwing in a driver or two and a bag with the purchase of a set of irons? Hey it's possible right?? Thanks guys.
