just keep playing your game... good luck and keep it up.

Driver A- I am hitting around 65-70% of my FW's most days and I'm not short. Iron B When it's on look out, but some days make me wonder. Short game C Just not enough practice, especially later in the year. Putter C+ I am retooling my stroke (using an arc stroke now, learning to release the head better)... but I am moving in the right direction. Overall game B- Just need to work with wedges and get back to how I was, and keep making headway with putting.

Him being AK or AK's pal? If you would... just have AK write down the exact specs for all of his clubs; length, lie, swingweight, loft, grip type and overall weight.

No, that's just not right... Like I said, sexual experimentation is not for me... at least not taking it to that degree... but all the girls I know who did that went back to the other side after college. Wait a minute...you were talking about golf, my bad I actually dated a girl with lefty clubs way back in the day, and I could hit them pretty good, but I could always switch hit in baseball a little bit too. madcittyscott - aren't you the guy I sold my 3-wood to... are you still playing it? I still have a matching driver out in my shed.

well... two things led me to it, I previously had a 53/60 combo, but the 60 was ONLY used for sand and flops... I decided to try a 58, just to see if I had more control and it has been great. I can hit a lot of shots with the 58 and will sometimes even use it for a semi-full shot. It is possible that part of the change is actually me using and trusting the club more, but either way, I can use the 58 for a lot of shots... I hit it whenever I'm 70 and in and the pin is tight; most greenside bunkers, open it up to hit a flop, various other greenside chips where I need the ball to land softly. The 52 is spot on from 105, it is also easy enough to play on medium length greenside bunkers where I want the ball to release more, and I also hit a lot of chips with it. Apparently, the new grooves are supposed to make it more difficult to play lob wedges because the ball will ride up the face, but we'll have to see if that's the case or not... maybe I'll be playing 51/56 when I change... we'll just have to see.

Ditch that 5-wood... who needs one. At least that's what I would do, thing was a moon ball for me with real inconsistent distances. Of course last time I had one it was from 1994 and had a reg flex steel shaft and head the size of a my 3 month old daughter's fist (very small). My bag is not really unusual, but I like the 58* lob... much more versitle than the 60* for me. Also fan of my 2H over a 5W.

So you call 1/2" sooo short? and uhm... if your friend is pals with him, why don't you just have him ask AK so he can tell us why he uses clubs that are "so short". Seems like your the one with the connections... so you tell us.

As far as being the oldest in THAT major... about the ONLY shot would be Vijay at this years US Open... at least that's the only one I see on the horizon right now. Really though... this prediction is a crap shoot, anything COULD happen, however unlikely.
-
best of luck... we'll be watching and hoping. just looked and shot 69 (-2) T13 for 1st day... where will you need to finish to make stage 2?
-
So far so good... looking forward to more. Keep making those putts!

good, because some of this madeup BS is pretty funny. P.S. I understand the Commie joke... my friends are always calling eachother that when we get heavy handed with rules or oversight on silly stuff.

I was thinking of having everyone pay a paypal account to someone who is a long established member of the forum, or maybe a mod. It wouldn't bother me terribly if the cutoff was after the 1st tournament, because really one event will not make or break a session or season.
-
EVERYONE... just don't forget to send me the check for $15, if you haven't paid by Friday you WILL be DQ'd. In all seriousness... I think we should get some kind of wager going on this... there must be some way to collect $5 from everyone (or at least those who would want to wager) and have payouts for top 3-5 at the end of each session. Any ideas...

yeah... I'd be happy to meet you someplace for a round if the weather breaks... or whenever. I am always looking for people to play with. You should click on that link in my sig for pickup18, they have some cool events and are starting a tour next year. As for that driver... you liked it eh'... I definately have to go try one soon. The newest speedline (the FAST10) was in GD on the Hot List, not that I put too much stock in that. Anyway... hope the driver works out, and just give me a heads up if you want to play. I play sporadically on one of the 3 days my wife gets off work which are different each week, but she usually has her schdule about a month in advance, so I can plan around it pretty easy.

actually it is about the "respectful" way to play through... not about being out there in the first place. If you read my other post you would see that I actually already answered the question and shared an experience I had a few days ago. I play as a single about 1/3 of the time (usually getting paired up)... so read my posts, I'm not saying singles are bad, or they have no standing or anything like that... Not 100% sure exactly what you mean... A golf course should NEVER add players, singles or otherwise, to a full tee sheet. However, it is seldom that a tee sheet is 100% booked, usually there are slots with 2-somes and 3-somes, and those are the spots where a single should be added, or even a 2-some with another 2-some... OR if there are entire open tee times with 0 golfers... send whatever type group is ready on out single, 2-some, or otherwise. I was specifically speaking about the practice of having tee times on a tee sheet that are say 1:00, 1:10, 1:20, etc. and a course waiting to get 3-4 singles and sending them out between the 1:10 and 1:20 time despite the fact that they are booked solid. That WOULD indeed jam up a course... extra golfers should NOT be sent out, they should follow the sheet and make people wait for an open time.
-
Of course Wed will be the warmest day this week... I will be watching my daughter and working from home. SOB! Tomorrow when I CAN play it will be cold as hell, and cold again for the weekend... total BS.
-
Actually that's crappy for them to squeeze singles into a tee time between two others... that's what jams up the courses. Singles need to be paired with 2-somes or 3-somes on busy days. Only way they should EVER slide in is if there was an open tee time, and if that's the case why the hell would they make you wait for another single or two.

I first played in a tournament at around 12-15... not including JV HS matches. I still don't have a USGA handicap, but I have been tracking it with software for 3-4 yrs. The two amateur tours I play with are flighted and I have a handicap established with them by playing in events. The one just started and has scores from several semi-formal games we played last year, the other just asked me and put me in the proper flight (they will move you up or down based on how you do).
-
depends on the tournament... each have their own methods... also, some tournaments are flighted, some are net. You could just get a USGA handicap and not have to worry... various places will do it from $10-50 a year.
-
you're right he doesn't... but it didn't bother me as I too am a feel player and distance control is one of the best parts of my game, even from 30-70 yards. I thought the DVD was very wel done and I thought the putting was suprisingly good. I would love to go practice right now, it's just too damned cold.
-
yeah... I still think it's funny when I see people with winter coats and parkas when it's 40*... I will wear short at about 60* and short sleeves is anything above 50-55*. I still have Michigan blood, but I am starting to get used to the heat a little. The high-tech shirts help. No kidding, this is getting out of hand... my heat pump doesn't even keep my house at 68* through the night... I get up and it's like 63-5*... even the 10 day forecast looks pretty bad. Where are the 50's we should be hitting. Guess I'll just have to play more hockey for now. I'm wishing it were 40* now... we have been low 30's most of the day if we're lucky and teens at night.

does the Callaway FT-IZ replace the FT-IQ?
Big_M replied to localhawaii's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I didn't like the FT-iQ... not a terrible club, just not one I would buy... much prefer my FT-i Tour LCG I would like to hit the FT-9 Tour and Adams Speedline... both should be comming WAY down in price here pretty soon. Honestly though... I love the shaft on this driver and I don't see switching next year unless something rocks me. -
Well... last time out I was one of about 7 groups on the ENTIRE course, but two foursomes were ahead of me. I caught them on #2, just barely. Waited a fair bit on 3... then was waiting with one on the teebox at 4. They told me I was the caboose on a long train... I thought that was BS since I heard the starter say I should only see 1-2 groups in front of me, but they were 4's. On #4 I peeked over to #6 and could see no one was on the box or in the FW... so there were two 4-somes in front of me and nothing else. I could either stay behind them and play in 5hrs or get through and play in 3.5hrs. On 5 I again caught captain train statement and I said "hey there's only one group ahead of you guys... you mind if I play through and try to get past them on 6. They let me through taking all of 2 minutes and the next group waived me through as soon as I hit the 6 tee box. I was finishing 18 and I saw them back on 12... so I sure am glad I spoke up. My round took just a hair over 3 hrs walking. my point is this... if it's wide open, people should let you through and if they don't I have no problem saying something. If it is busy and you really aren't going anywhere... then just relax and practice or pair up if possible.

Would you buy these Vokey's?
Big_M replied to BrokeEnthusiast's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
sure... I'd just offer $30 for both -
Your setup is pretty similar to mine, I just play a regular 4 iron instead of a hybrid. I dropped the 5W for a 2H a while ago, and I love it. I have much more control with the hybrid... it is also my favorite club off the tee on a short tight par 4. I would just go ahead and pick up the Adams 2 hybrid that matches your other 2, unless you find a 5W you like better.
