  2. Reading this book at the moment, halfway through and I've learnt A LOT of useful things. I can feel a re-shape coming on.
  3. I was interested to hear he has won on his 100th, 200th and now 300th starts in the PGA tour. 400th the 19th major? ;-)
  4. I'd look into drivers now as well, test them as well as the fairway woods. Then buy the wood now, get used to it and you can look forward to getting the driver in a year (for cheaper).
  5. You could do worse than the Cobra Amp Cell. They are adjustable I think but kinda pricey. If your driver is a Taylormade, I'd suggest sticking with the same brand for now, unless you plan to replace the driver later.
  6. I'm quite bad for OCD on brands in the bag. Though I'm thinking of introducing more soon. As for fairway wood suggestions: the Callaway X hot's seem to be getting good reviews, not hit one myself but I need new woods and this is one of the one's I'm thinking about.
  7. How are you hitting the draw? If it is by aiming to the right of the target and turning the club face towards the target, then it may be that your club face at impact is too closed. When I first started playing I was a slicer, never really had a problem with hooks. But when practice, sometimes I fool around deliberately trying to hit hooks and it is quite easy to do by swinging in-to-out, but what makes a more drastic effect is turning the hands over, so this could be your problem. Difficult to know without seeing.
  8. I've got money on Colsaerts....there's still 3 days
  9. No one posted this yet, so I thought I might as well. I don't think his tooth is so sore, as has been mentioned he didn't say anything about it until after he left.
  10. You should think about sliding the hip towards the target and then clearing. The hip slide is pretty important.
  11. My PW is 45 degrees, SW 55 and I have 59 degree and 64 degree wedges too. But I'm thinking of ditching the 64 for a filler between P and S.
  12. I know what you mean, first 18 holes since November the other day and I hit a single drive...the 3h was used from then on! Agree with most of what has been said previously except the driver swing is not the same as the rest of the bag. For irons and wedges you are looking to hit down on the ball, whilst for the driver you want to hit it on the up...so shift your weight to your right foot a little bit (if you are right handed).

  14. This is a good question. I find it hard to feel which I am doing. If I look in a mirror front on and do a swing, it looks as though I'm driving hips towards the path the ball will take, but it doesn't feel that way. It's kinda hard not to have some sort of lateral movement in the hips and I think it's probably a mixture of both you should aim for.
  15. Greatest day of my life and I got an eagle once.
  16. Lose a ProV1 but find a TopFlite :'( twice
  17. I tried the whole aiming the club face slightly to the right of the target and aiming more right of the target but it didn't work very well. Personally I just adjust my swing plane by tucking my right elbow in on the downswing creating in-to-out.
  18. Couple of things: It doesn't look like you are turning from the hips, and also MY GOD your back swing goes far. Try slowing it down a bit and keeping the shaft parallel to the ground at the top of your back swing. I know you want it to go far, but slowing it down will maybe help you keep it on the fairway. Watching again I see your head moves a lot, keep it still.
  19. Crossing the arms is encouraged, but your swing path for the driver must be out-to-in (over the top). To OP, I agree, go to the range and see if they are of similar carry.
  20. My round depends entirely on the first hole. If I don't make good contact with ANY of the shots my round is effectively over. I've since discovered that this is because I want to desperately find out what I am doing wrong. This leads to thinking of EVERYTHING that should and should not be in my swing. Over-thinking is the enemy of me. Recently I've been using a tactic to stop me thinking so much; if I hit a bad shot, I immediately accept it and get another ball out and put it down, take another swing and depending on that shot my mentality can go either way. In my opinion, golf is 80% a mental game. The sooner you can deal with your mindset, the sooner you will be able to be more consistent in ball striking. Before I addressed my mental issues on the course I would go through about 5 questions before EVERY shot: 1) Grip? 2) turning from the trunk? 3) left arm straight? 4) letting arms swing through? 5) alignment good on follow through? As you can see, all of this in the space of 2 or 3 seconds is going to put you off. Long story short, my mental toughness has improved over the last few months, but used to be abysmal.
  21. Thanks for the responses guys. Motown - there's an old set of Lynx clubs in my garage that has a 3i in it that I've been using at the range which I can hit pretty well, there's also a 2 iron in that and I can get good connection, it's just that those clubs are a lot heavier than mine and I don't want to have to get used to 2 different weighted clubs, so looking for something lighter. Apoc - I get what you're saying, I'd only ever use it off the tee. There is such a better contact and feel off the ground with a hybrid. WUTiger - that's interesting, I didn't know that! It explains why I've been hitting my 4 off the tee pretty far then. As for my 3H distance, I can average around 220. In fact I played an entire round yesterday teeing off with that and shot +10, it really helped being on the fairway ;) Thanks for all the tips gents, I'll get looking into x-18/20s.
  22. Yeah my iron set didn't come with a 3 iron, and when I got them I wasn't too good with long irons, but I've got a lot better and would like more distance off the tee (driver is a work in progress). But thanks for the link.
  23. I've got a set of Callaway x-24 4-PW and a RAZR 3H but want a 2 iron similar to my irons, does anyone know if they make a 2i x-24? And if not, what 2 irons would you suggest?
  24. Thanks for the tips!
