80 with 3 doubles. Part 72 rate72.6 slope 135 Been a couple weeks so my putting was a bit off, 3putted from about 3 feet on #4 lol. Been working on my iron play specifically trapping the ball and its been an improvement so far, I think when I finally have a trap swing my scores will get low where I want them to be.

Fort Bragg golf courses are horrible
onesome replied to Bullitt5339's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
I think Fort Ord probably has the best military courses in the country, of course the base is closed now but those courses were just too good to let go. -
Today was a good day, one of the pros at our course helped me out a little bit with my soon to be ” trap swing”.

I'm interested, I'll do the golf zing membership tomorrow (going to bed). Just wondering why my course was not included, http://www.roddyranch.com/

Finally got on the range after not swinging a club since sunday and of course I try to hit iron shots I was having trouble with while I was playing nearly everyday....bad move.

The most discouraging thing I find on grass driving ranges is that most people don't know how to minimize the amount of divots in it. Just for the sake of sharing when practicing irons on grass driving ranges always set the ball behind a divot rather than some other grassy spot, this is how the pros do it on tour and they use up the grass very little.

I just established my first index 3 months ago at 8.7 and I am down to 5.9 now, I usually play from tees that are 72.6 rated and 135 slope, sometimes I play another combo that's 139 slope 73.9 rating every friday, so is my index lower than it should be cause I play a tougher/ higher rated course or is it more legitimate? Lowest round so far was 74 and rated at 1.4 from 135 slope and 79 from 139 slope was 4.3. or 4.5 (can't remember exactly).

Senior Golfer desires to begain again anew

Hybrids are the viagara for long irons. -
My username says it all, I feel I get more focused practice while on the course versus the range and it's quite common for me to drop 4-5 balls where my drive wounded up on a hole and just prctice those approach shots. Always make sure I never hold anyone up that's why I usually only hit multi approaches versus drives, I feel driving a golf ball can be learned on the range nearly as well as on tee blocks cause conditions are very similar however approach shots are always unique in lie and distance so practicing those on the course is best.

Can of worms just opened....however is it really a surprise? Personally though I don't care and am real happy to see this finally happen.

A very common cause of topped or thinned shots is up and down movement during the backswing and coming down, concentrate on keeping your body/head steady at one heighth.

Now is too far fetched to see Augusta National announce a womens tournament? Wich one of the LPGA's majors would get the boot for a "womens masters"?

onesome replied to Ricepr's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Don't feel so bad my staff's are collecting dust too, and yes the 2 iron also. I'm fully on the hybrid bandwagon now though and am looking t get a 5h real soon, just bought a 2h 17* and love it, in fact I got to say I bought that club specifically for one hole at my course lol. -
Poorly run golf courses...I witnessed one last Friday.
onesome replied to formula428's topic in Golf Talk
My course always lets us know when high school players are on and especially when they are doing a tournament.I really feel sorry for some of these kids playing this hilly course and some times from the tips they walk and the course is rated 142 slope from there. There are seriously some 150 scores coming in on the tournaments. -
Seeing your self on video can be very helpful for those who understand how and why any flaws are occuring, too often it sounds as though new players think the remedy for some very bad flaws can be remedied with a change in grip or tweaking their alignment in a bad position, beginers need to understand that getting themselves in a good starting position is the first key in making a good swing, being so new to the game makes the argument to get good instruction with a trained instructor imperative. I am able to catch a few of my flaws on occasion cause I have been doing this for over 30 years but even then I don't get very deep into making any long and lasting changes without an instructor.

I have shot even par 72 on easier courses but I consider the 74 I shot last tuesday my best round to date, course is rated 72.6 from where I played with a 135 slope. shot 1 under 35 on front and 39 on back, what really makes it satisfying is that I birdied the last hole so I know I didn't back into a good score.

More hassle then what they are woth, you will feel this way after you notice your holding up play putting them back on or after you lost 3 already.Good luck with them I understand why you would want them but they are just gonna get in the way.

Driver woes keeping me from enjoying golf
onesome replied to mosnas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Shortening a driver 4 inches will drastically change the swing weight, drivers these days are designed for 45-46 inch shafts. -
There are a lot of variables to consider when deciding on a firm versus easy stroke at short putts, downhill, uphill, sidehill, grain, speed, match play vs stroke play etc...for me it has more to do with just how comfortble I feel making a firm versus easy stroke. One reason I would say us amatuers should probably lean towards firm is the one thing I see the pros do on TV almost everytime they finish putting out....they tamp down spikemarks around the cup, if amatuers would do this as well I would be willing to bet maybe 1 or 2 more putts would find the hole versus bumping off to oneside or having the speed killed by spike marks. Whenever I'm the one pulling out the flagstick I try to stand as far away as possible from the cup while doing it and also from a point that I don't think any of my playing partners may have to putt across.

Hey Looseleftie, I'm no instructor so take everything with a large grain but if I were giving you tips I think developing some rhythym in your swing is really going to need to happen to get things clicking, good rythym produces tempo wich leads to timing, your backswing is just so slow and deliberate and I know your trying to put yourself in the proper positions but making such a deliberate effort to accomplish that is causing you to be way too stiff. Believe it or not the downswing actually begins before the club reaches the end of the backswing and in your case nothing is happening as far as a downswing until that club is all the way back, good rhythym and tempo will let everything return in an athletic move through the ball. What I meant about the downswing starting before the end of the backswing is your weight shift starting at your feet starts right before that club reaches the end of the backswing.

Looks the opposite to me,guy on left has ascending impact and guy on right descending.
