  1. Good subject; this is my #1 pet peeve on the course. For the amount of members and the money we pay, there should be adequate tee boxes on all holes. At my home course there's one tee box that when they move the markers towards the back, it's an uphill lie. Usual result is a sky high drive or my normal draw turns over too much. Moving back isn't an option on it either; there's about 6 feet from the markers to a dropoff behind the teebox. When they move them back to that spot, I just tee it up on a flat lie somewhere in the area.
  2. Triple bogey by the pony-tailed guy............. Maybe his panties are riding up some.
  3. Sometimes confidence is taken as arrogance and I think a lot of Pros are disliked for that. I've read several articles or tips written by Jack Nicklaus that I've thought 'Amazing how every subject turns into memory lane where he has to recall winning something. What a _____' but then I temper that thought with 'hell yeah, he's confident. He's the Greatest Of All Time'. Definitely my favorite of all time. That being said, there are some douchebags out there on tour I'm sure. Some have such a sense of entitlement that you wonder how they can swing with a silver spoon jammed in their ass.
  4. Those fat appearance fees will help them recover I'm sure.
  5. I wish I could find the article I read several years ago about the 1975 Masters. It detailed the duel between Jack Nicklaus, Tom Weiskopf and Johnny Miller. There were insights from the players as well as the caddies and it was a fantastic read. I think it was in Golf Digest or Golf Magazine. It's definitely my favorite one to watch.
  6. Risk/reward factor..... Do I stand a better chance at Par or better if I hit the wood? Do I significantly increase the possibility of Bogey or worse if I hit the wood? The guys I golf with often will take out their 3 wood no matter what the lie on par 5s/long par 4s. For me, I take into account where the pin is located first. If the pin is tucked tight to the front of the green and well bunkered, I like my chances of Par or better if I hit a full wedge with spin from the fairway. It's that versus a chip/pitch shot from rough to a pin tight behind a bunker if I hit the fairway wood. If the green is open or the pin is middle or back, I'll take the fairway wood as long as I'm not significantly increasing my chance of Bogey or worse. It's good that you're thinking about this stuff and shows you're realizing there's a lot of strategy to this game.
  7. So the consensus is GIRs, right? Most mid/high handicappers come up short when they miss greens. I wonder how many people would improve their GIRs by simply taking one more club, expecting to hit the club their average distance instead of their max distance? Unless the pin is on the front of the green, I've been taking a lot more 3/4 shots with 1 more club if I've got an 8 iron or less in my hand to control the backspin on the greens. Also, there's a lot of people who miss Greens due to bad course management. Sucker pins, wind, lies, angles to attack greens, etc.
  8. Oh, it's possible to swing without transferring weight (or much of it) and also some 'reverse pivot'. Either way, it's a crapshoot for decent contact and they'll never play to their potential.
  9. When I was stationed at Little Rock AFB, my friend who is also from Pittsburgh would drive home and bring us back each a case of that stuff. During a fire alarm evacuation one night we gave some to a guy from Wisconsin. He drank half the can (completely sober) and then threw up. Some years later I was in Oklahoma City for training and bought a six pack of that from a package store. I took 1 chug then threw the rest out. It's pretty rancid once you get away from it for awhile. IRT topic: Before moving to Georgia, I used to live on the Southside. My brother and I would hit South Park and RIverview regularly; even with some snow/ice on the ground. Get out there and play guys regardless of the cold. P.S. I love Georgia winters!
  10. A couple posts remind me of how much I miss my old work center and the Jane Fonda urinal target...................
  11. This is an old one from the Atlanta area. Boo got shot! original sound file and the translation...........
  12. I'm guessing Rory is human, right? So he's subject to the same emotions as the rest of us including doubt & uncertainty. The equipment may look the same but his subconscious knows it's not the same.
  13. My kid just got a job at Dick's about a month ago. The discount she gets is supposedly 25% but some exclusions apply. Also, the purchased stuff can only be for her, her kids or her spouse. I'll probably get her to buy some ProV1s for me but really that's about it. Their prices are jacked up alot on stuff anyway (except some stuff).
  14. How about instead of fooling with equipment we just make them swing blindfolded? I'm against dialing it back for several reasons but mostly because I like watching them hit the shit out of the ball. Who the hell wants to watch vanilla golf? Did I enjoy watching Corey Pavin back in the day? Yeah but not as much as I enjoyed watching Freddie Couples bomb it past him. Also, distance is a big selling point for equipment. If you limit that, why would companies spend money in R & D depts to come up with new clubs/balls? Think of the people reliant on that industry for their jobs. Then think of the Pro shops that make a margin on selling that equipment, etc..... You can always make the old courses play harder for them. Increase the length of the rough, make the greens quicker, tougher pin placements, etc.......
  15. Two comments: These drunks that like to heckle or yell stupid shit.....................get em off the course. Tell them to leave or a policeman will cite them for public intoxication. Bradley should know better than to show emotion when these comments are made. It just adds fuel to the fire. As far as anchoring goes, how does it help golfers? Is it possible to see results with Trackman on it? I think all the long putters should be banned. Make the max length of a putter something like 37" and leave it at that.
  16. If some people are indeed born homosexual and have no choice, how do some of them stop participating being in same sex relationships? I've known several that turned away from it (both male and female) although all of them were at Church. They entered into hetrosexual relationships at that point and are happy. Perhaps that's what it boils down to. What about Bisexual people? How is it they have a choice? Are all Homosexuals born that way? Can someone just be a little curious then find out it's not for them? If so, then you'd have to admit there IS a choice being made.
  17. I see your point that since humans have these desires, it occurred 'naturally'. I'm referring to a natural state as in what people in general are naturally; not anomalies that since they occurred should be considered natural. There are children born with deformities due to women doing drugs or smoking during pregnancies. They were born that way but not naturally.
  18. One other thing on people's sexuals preferences being 'Natural' or not. So pedophiles and rapists desires should be considered Natural? Of course not. In no way am I putting homosexuality in the same category but you can't just say because a person wants to do a certain thing sexually, it should be considered Natural.
  19. Riddle me this Batman............ How is using your reproductive organs in a manner that doesn't lead to procreation natural? If all the world were homosexuals/lesbians how would we NATURALLY continue to exist as a species? We couldn't. Humans would have to manipulate things to bear children. As a species, NATURALLY we need both men and women to reproduce. Fellatio and other acts other than straight sex between hetrosexual couples isn't natural but they do it because it feels good to them. That's the same for homosexuals. Just because people feel an urge to do something and act on it doesn't make it 'natural'. Frankly, I don't care what people do in the privacy of their own homes so long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others. It's the people who feel the need to flaunt their sexual preference that I find to be obnoxious. And I mean for homosexuals and hetrosexuals.
  20. He may claim he was a distraction to the others in the group but walking off is even more IMO. Maybe he heard one too many people state that the club change wouldn't affect a golfer of his calibre that much. If anything, I'd think it would affect those elite guys even more in competition. A few errant shots and the confidence that got them to the #1 spot starts disappearing. Has there been a golfer up near the top that made such a drastic change in clubs and didn't have a dropoff? Nick Price comes to mind but I can't remember if he totally dropped off or just kind of slowly disappeared.
  21. I've been on both sides and see the value of hiding that info. Yeah, for Buyers or people interested in purchasing one, that info would be a tool to not overpay. However, from a Seller's standpoint it's protected information that I personally wouldn't want shared. The Seller might be in a pinch when the first Best Offer was accepted but not when they list the others. The other Buyers would point to that other sale expecting the Seller to meet or beat the previous selling price. Typically I don't buy stuff off of Buy It Nows or Best Offers. Most merchants want full retail on Ebay and just keep relisting the item over and over til someone buys it.
  22. I think it's a generic setting that Ebay uses for the Seller's protection. If they have more than 1 item of that kind, they don't want the subsequent Buyers knowing what the others paid. I've had multiple items that I've sold under Best Offers; sometimes I get more out of the second Best offers than the first.
  23. Good luck Metzie!
  24. You can always counter offer them as well but of course only after you've checked their feedback left for others. How many days did you make the auction for? I usually do 10 days and start it on Thursday about 5 Pacific time. That makes it end the next Sunday evening with East Coast still up and able to bid.
  25. Some of it was learned through Ebay's forums and most through getting scammed a few times. You're welcome. A couple more pointers on Ebay Selling guys: 5. Always use Ebay messaging to communicate as that is the only correspondence that is considered official to Ebay. In the event of a dispute, they will review those messages. Don't get nasty or make threats in them either. 6. On your auction style sales: Run each and every bidder through Toolhaus.org Enter their ID into the search field and click left by. It will show you all the negatives/neutrals that Buyer left over the years. Here's an example of a PITA (pain in the ass) Buyer who will bitch if their ice cream is cold. http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=hautetut&Dirn;=Left+by 7. Also look at their feedback left for others within Ebay. Click on their feedback number and then 'Feedback left for others'. Sometimes a Buyer will always leave backhanded positives (called 'False positives') with comments like 'Great Seller although shipping was high' or 'Not great quality but the price was okay'. Those ones are the ones who'll leave you a 1 or 2 on your Seller rating stars and if you fall below a certain level, you'll lose selling priviledges. If you don't have a lot of sales, just a couple aholes can get you banned from Selling. 8. If you do find anyone that you'd rather not bid on your item, add them to your BBL (Blocked Bidder List) http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/manage_bidders_ov.html#block . Simply copy their ID, open the link to 'Block bidders', paste their ID in there and save it. If you add more than 1, put a comma then a space in between. I have hundreds on my BBL. Some were obvious, some just smelled fishy. Why take a chance on getting scammed.......... 9. If they've already bid on your item, add them to your BBL FIRST then click on the Cancel bids link page. If they send you a message about why you cancelled their bids, just ignore it. Nothing (I repeat NOTHING) you write them will help them get over you telling them you don't want their business. Good luck!
