  1. I used Cleveland RTG wedges for a long time and switched to Mizuno approx 2 years ago. The Mizunos are defs softer and seem to spin a bit more. I've never played Vokeys, but hear that they spin more, but feel a little bit harder than Mizuno. I love my Mizuno wedges.
  2. 1. Practice more, I intend to join I club that I drive by to and from the office so I hopefully I can stop by there twice a week or so and work on my game. 2. Get better at shots under 100 yards, I really struggle with generating height and spin on less than full wedge shots. 3. Get handicap to 0. 4. Try out a hybrid and figure out what club I can drop to make room for one if I like it. 5. Play more competitive tourneys, not get nervous about them and play to my ability in them.

    Eagles?

Never had an ace, eagled a couple short par 4's and made 20 or so eagles on par 5's.
  4. I wanted Freddie to win as well and his 2nd on 18 looked like a shank. His short range putting stroke is hard to watch though. His full swing shots are pieces of art.
  5. Pro V1 Pinnacle in scramble events.
  6. Best part of my game - hitting greens in regulation Worst part - getting enough loft/spin on shots under 100 yds.
  7. Here in the Twin Cities I'd say the local muni's open around April 1st on average and the upper scale public and private clubs open around April 20th or so. I have golfed here around the middle of February once before, granted it was a "dogtrack" where they probably care more about revenue than protecting course conditions and we did get a blizzard with approx 20 inches 2 days later. I couldn't hit the links again for over a month!
  8. Accelerate through the ball. Far too many beginner/poor golfers take full backswings on every shot and then are hesitant to hit the ball too hard. It's all about controlling your backswing length and accelerating from there.
  9. I love desert golf as it's so much different from what we have here in Minnesota. Tucson is where I've been the most, but have also been to Phoenix a couple times and Palm Desert once. Sunset rounds in the desert are beautiful. Never been a fan of Florida golf, but then have never played anywhere considered top notch down there either. Someone made a comment about liking desert golf, but not Las Vegas golf. I've never played in Vegas, but am wondering what that comment means. FYI..... golf in northern Minnesota is outstanding in the late summer/fall for those of you not from around here.
  10. My FT 4-wood is great. Penetrating, mid-height ball flight. I have a feeling these may be geared to players with higher swing speeds though.
  11. Cleveland recently came out with a putter similar in shape to a #9 and it isn't nearly as soft. Not too pricey either.
  12. I play Pro-V's because they are the best. (Actually the best ever were the old Titleist Professionals, but I'd have to replace them after 9 holes) I've played 3+ rounds with the same Pro-V before and it still performed like new. In my experience other top shelf balls wear out after somewhere between 9 to 18 holes.
  13. A hacker can't break 100. A golfer always breaks 100. A player breaks 80 and occasionally goes below par.
  14. Good luck to you, sounds like a good gig for a 16 year old. Play your cards right, do a good job, make some connections and who knows you could get even more out of it than discounts off gear.
  15. Good to read about everyone's low scores. My best was a 67 (-5) on one of my last rounds before winter. First bogey of the round was on 17, but then I got up and down from a greenside bunker on par 5 #18 for birdie.
  16. Does anyone have any experiences or thoughts on the durability of Odyssey inserts. Do they go bad, soften up or harden up over time?
  17. Driver: 285 4 Wood: 250 3I: 220 4I: 205 5I: 195 6I: 185 7I: 175 8I: 160 9I: 150 PW: 140 51: 125 56: 115 60: 105
  18. 1. Danny Noonan 2. David Duval 3. Colin Montgomery 4. Corey Pavin 5. Tony D'Annunzio
  19. I don't know what to tell you about fairway woods or hybrids, but I'd defs add a gap and sand wedge to your bag.
  20. I'm against iron covers and here's why.... My first job was caddying at the local country club. My first loop ever was for a woman who had those Yonex carbon/graphite/plastic or whatever headed "irons" and each one had a small leather headcover with a zipper. This lady musta shot 140+ and I had to unzip and zip a headcover for all 140+ plus shots. On top of that I lost one or two of them and she stiffed me (a 11 year old kid) on the tip. I've never seen a "player" with iron covers. Those who I've noticed with them tend to be "that guy" or "that gal."
  21. Irons = Mizuno
  22. I wouldn't buy Nike, Adams or Nickent. I don't know why, they just seem gimmicky and use too many bright colors on their stuff.
  23. I currently have a 4+ wood and am looking to replace it with either a Callaway FT 4 wood or a Mizuno F-60 4 wood. I'd rather carry an extra wedge than 2 fairway woods. I probs only use my fairway wood 2-3 times a round while I'm always mixing up my wedges from 125 yards and in depending on the situation I find myself.
  24. 3.25" wood tees with the natural wood color for my driver. Whatever broken stub I can find on the tee box when hitting an iron or 4-wood.
  25. Good luck with the new equipment and your game. Waiting for new stuff is the worst.
