Are my clubs clones? If so, of what??
mn723 replied to Walther's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The kinda remind me of the King Cobra game improvement irons that were so popular during the early-mid 1990's -
Circle C golf course is a good one outside Austin. I have to disagree with the person who said The Bandit is a good course. Maybe I just had a bad experience, but that place is overpriced and the pro (the pro 3-4 years ago anyways) isn't the brightest bulb....

Went down south to Phoenix last week and played 4 rounds at Gold Canyon. First time I've played since mid October. Shot 80-77 on the Sidewinder course and 81-77 on Dinosaur Mountain while allowing myself 1 mulligan per round.

Thanks for the info.

I am contimplating the same thing as I demo-ed the Titleist and Burner TP fairway woods in a simulator last week. They both feel sweet, but the Burner defs looks easier to hit. Also, the used club racks where I shop are full of Titleist fairway woods if that tells you anything.

Does anyone have any experience with a Yes Callie? Also, any knowledge on how a forged one feels different from a regular stainless steel one?

I think the rules should be changed so we could only carry maybe 12 clubs. However, if we could have 15 I'd add a 5 or maybe 7 wood.

Tired of People Hating on the 3-iron
mn723 replied to iacas's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Is it possible to hit a "knock down" hybrid? Sometimes on windy days I like to hit low "knock down" 190-200 yard tee shots with my 3 iron that probably dont get more than 20 feet off the ground. I have a feeling that hybrids might be prone to ballooning. -
Does anone know what the clubhead weight on this putter is or where I can find that info on the net? It feels a bit light to me. I tried Odysseys website but couldn't find the info. Thanks

Why no new Product Reviews on the site?
mn723 replied to Windy City Golfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Tell me about it..... this snow and sub zero temperatures are driving me nuts, especially after getting all of this new golf gear over the holidays. I look forward to your upcoming reviews.... -
Ben, I've been using my War Bird 4+ wood for about 10 years and despite the fact that it's been old reliable I'm thinking of making a switch to a new FT fairway wood. Probs either a FT 4 wood or a FT Tour 15. Your thoughts? I love my War Bird off the tee, but am looking for a little higher ball flight when hitting off the deck.

I'm pulling for A. Scott and he starts out the tourney with an eagle on #1!

He won the PGA last year. I say he wins The Masters and PGA

I walk and carry. If you're not at least walking your not really playing golf. Walking is such a great exercise opportunity I don't understand when people don't take advantage of it. Not to be judgemental, but I always wonder when I see an overweight person cruising around in a golf cart. On another note, I bet my avg score is 2 shots worse when I'm forced to ride.

Cord, Tour Velvet, or Combo ?
mn723 replied to ScottySnapps's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Tour Wrap full cord..... hands tend to sweat -
I think I remember them from back in the day and don't remember them being anything special. With your swing speed I'd stop playing graphite shafts in your irons. If you are serious about getting into golf I'd look into getting a nice set of used irons with stiff steel shafts.

Congrats! I just picked up mn MP-57s last week and can't wait for the snow to melt!!

Great point, sometimes the breaks go your way, sometimes they dont.

Hoovedawg, don't worry about you mistake in the high school match or the response by Q.Q.Quillumep. In my second season of high school golf (11 years ago) I was DQ'd from the section tournament. On the 17th hole I hit my drive into a bunker that divides the 17th and 18th fairways. As I was walking towards the ball someone played out of that bunker while playing #18. I got up there and couldn't find my ball anywhere in or around the bunker. I assumed that other person had played my ball and dropped another in the bunker and proceeded to play out the hole. The other competitors in my group also agreed that I was doing the right thing. Well, I finished the round and we asked the coaches about what I had done. I was DQ'd. This ended up costing our team a trip to the state tournament, our team was rated in the top 10 in state and was the favorite to come out of our section. My foursome was just a bunch of 15-17 year olds who didn't know all the rules. My point being, just because you don't know all the rules it doesn't mean you don't have a basic understanding of them or lack respect for them. Golf has many many unusual, obscure and often borderline unfair rules that are unknown by most. Like you, now I know the rules on that situation and am able to help others when they don't know what to do.

I noticed the same thing. I'd rather drive it 290-300 yards and hit 35% of fairways than drive it 260-270 yards and hit 65% of fairways. I'm guessing my avg approach shot out of the rough from 100 yards out is similar to a shot from 130 out of the fairway. However, if I'm behind a tree in the rough that is a different issue . I just get the feeling that the saying "drive for show, putt for dough" isn't as accurate as it used to be, especially after they have come so far in driver, wedge groove and ball spin technology.

Mizuno if I can use a TP Mills putter from 6 years ago.
-
Top - Driver, 4 wood and putter Middle left - 3, 4, 5 irons Middle right - 6, 7, 8 irons Bottom - 9, PW, SW, LW During a round I just make sure they are in the correct divider. After a round I'll put them in numerical order.
-
56 degree SW by far. I probably hit 75% of my chips with it and most shots from 90 to 110 yards.

What is everyone’s strategy when using a driver? I read posts on this website where people purchase a particular driver because it is easier for them to work and shape. I also read in golf publications where tour pros say they just want a driver that is as long and forgiving as possible. My new strategy is to just bomb it and hope my driver is the most forgiving possible. I recently went into a golf shop and said I want the longest and most forgiving club they sold. They set me up with a TM Burner. I’ll let my short irons clean up the mess. If a hole has too much trouble I’ll use my 4 wood (250 yards) or 3 iron (220 yards) off the tee.

Nothing worse than being in the middle of the fairway and having a tree between you and the green. Has anyone ever played Keller Golf Course in St. Paul MN? It's a great course, but #4 is a 140 yard par 3 with a 50 foot tall, 50 foot wide tree right in the middle of the front of the green. Good players can hit a wedge over the tree, but anyone else is in trouble.
