Im with Patch on this one. I went to treat myself to a SC putter and was prepared to plonk down some serious ££££. Ended up walking out with a £60 Hot Blade putter that I absolutely love! As a treat for dropping below 15 next year (dreams are free:) I think I might treat myself to an Edel but only time will tell. It would have to seriously perform to get the cheap Hot Blade out of the bag! At the end of the day its what ever feels good in your hands. If thats a £300 SC or Edel or a £10 special from the second hand shop so be it. Only you can tell what works for you. Regards Mailman

It all depends. If I'm by myself with no one in front of me on a lovely day I can get around in 1:30 hours at the most. In a medal competition it can easily 've 2 hours plus! Just remember golf is a marathon, not a sprint. Far too many people feel agrieved when they have to wait an extra 10 seconds to play these days! Regards Mailman

You are clearly hitting the ball too fecking hard mate! :) Nice looking swing...to my untrained eye it looks like all the right parts are moving at the right time? Could be completely wrong but lots of people would kill for a swing looking like that! Regards Mailman

45 out 38 back Front nine didnt feel all that bad to be honest. Nothing terribly bad (apart from a double bogey on a par 3), solid bogey golf. However the back 9 was a completely different kettle of fish! 5 pars, 2 bogeys and a solitary double bogey all topped off with a birdie on the 18th after driving nearly 280 yards leaving a 100 pitch to the pin! Best thing was no lost balls and no 3 putts!!! It was one of those days when I felt I couldn't miss with the putter! :) Perhaps the best shot of the day was on the par 4 11th hole when I put my drive in to a bunker leaving myself 100 yards to the pin. The ball was pretty close to the step bank but the connection was pure with my 54 degree wedge with the ball pitching near the hole and leaving me a 10 foot birdie putt (which I missed but will take a par any day!). Where I play if there are temporary greens then the round is a non-qualifier (you can't use it for handicapping purposes). For competition purposes (as we are in the middle our of Christmas spirit competitions (quite literally as the prizes are alcohol:) the holes are still counted as par+hcp but you can't use it for handicapping (either cutting or increasing). My course is on the edge of the River Ouse and when the river floods it spills over on to our course and ends up being closed for weeks on end. Except for last year, it was an usually warm and dry winter but the previous year it was closed from the 24th of December due to rain right through to the middle of January and then the snow arrived keeping the course closed through until March! :( Regards Mailman

This place can be funny at times. Say the wrong thing and this place makes the Wild West look tame. Certainly Ive enjoyed reading your thread over the last few months and to be honest this place will be less without you but I guess thats just life isn't it. Hopefully you will capture that spark back and be back here posting again soon. Regards Mailman

My OCD won't allow me to play partial rounds of golf iacas :) Regards Mailman

Game golf people, This is in relation to temporary greens. I ask this question on the basis that Ive looked through the current edition of "Rules of Golf" and can't find anything in there about how Temporary Greens are handled (ie. whether the mowed area around a temporary green counts as GIR/putt on a green etc?). My assumption (which most likely is wrong:) is that the marked area around the temporary green is treated as if it was a putting area, so any putts on that part of the course would count as if you were on a proper green). So the question is, is there a simple way for Game Golf to handle temporary greens? For example moving the flag to where the temporary green is on your course and then being able to set the "green" (for example creating a 10 yard circle around the green) area and so on? I ask this because in my round today we had 3 temporary greens (5 putts in total BUT my putting total for the round shows these holes as all being zero putts). If Ive not understood the rules of golf for how temporary greens are handled then please let me know and Ill delete this thread (or ask Erik to kill it for me). Regards Mailman

Well my longest drive at one point was 312 yards...a record that lasted all of 2 holes when I also banged another 300 yard plus drive in the same round! :) Regards Mailman

Game golf did indeed get back to me with the following feedback; " t looks like your account is experiencing a bug when it comes to adding/edit club choice. I’ve reported this to our engineering team to take a look and see if they can resolve. It seems to vary by browser. For example, in Chrome you see about 7 clubs and out of order. However, in Firefox there is only 1 club option. Finally, I did notice that the mobile app allows you to edit the club selection properly. If you have our mobile app for either iOS or Android and you need to edit the club choice, my recommendation would be to perform that editing on the phone app. That seems to be the only workaround solution at this time. I’ll keep you updated on any information I receive from our engineering team regarding this issue" What is frustrating about this issue is that its only just started happening (when I say only just started I mean within the last couple months). So Ill just have to keep an eye open for a fix in the near future hopefully as trying to edit a round on a phone is next to impossible. Regards Mailman

This is what I get?!?!?! Quite annoying because the correct club is still being recorded during the round but if I had to chip out of if I forgot to tap my club before the shot that isn't on the list then Ive got to select what ever is available and just go with that. Regards Mailman Iacas, All of my clubs are present in the My Golf Bag screen. Regards Mailman

Hello game golf people, I raised a support fault but haven't heard anything back in a while now. The problem I have is that when I go to edit a round and add shots the only clubs I can select from the drop down menu are 3W , Driver, GW, PW, 4-Iron, 3 Wood, 7-Iron and thats it!?!?!? Honestly I have a full bag of clubs! :) Any suggestions game golf people? Regards Mailman

This is something close to my heart. the 31st of December 2013 I weighed in at around 130kg (nearly 300lbs) and was eating my self to death. Quite literally over night I decided to make a change so on the 1st of January 2014 pretty much EVERYTHING unhealthy in our house went out in to the rubbish! Out went the sugary treats, bread, potatoes (carbs), processed foods and in came whole foods, cooked meals, fruits, nuts, FULL FAT foods! I will not touch low fat foods with a barge pole! Quite literally from the 1st of January 2014 for the next 12 months I did not eat one single chocolate, sweet, lolly, sugary treat at all! While I got rid of the "bad" foods, what I did not do was replace it with low fat foods! I treated food as my friend, not my enemy so in came butter, blue top milk, meat with fat etc! By the end of January 2014 I had dropped 6kg and by the end of 2015 I weighed in at 90kg, dropping under 200lbs for the first time in about 30 years! The other thing I changed in 2014 was to increase my exercise activities, which I actually found really easy because I based everything around my regular 15km walk every saturday thanks to golf :) I took up running, encouraged by my lovely wife and the first 5km (3miles) we did took me 52 minutes to complete and god damn nearly killed me! My fastest 5km time is now under 26 minutes and my aim is to eventually get below 22 minutes, thus taking 30 minutes off my very first run time! :) Im now doing half marathons and 10mile races FOR FUN!!! The photo below is my 3 years ago and me back in July in Germany (working for the NZ Government:). While Ive dropped weight Ive also gone about putting muscle on as well. Regards Mailman

Had a tidy 87 yesterday. 45 out with 1 triple, a double, 4 bogeys and 3 pars. 42 back with 7 bogeys and 2 pars. Lots of silly bogeys and the triple should never have been as bad as it was! Very happy with the overall found though as it was, I guess, pretty good bogey golf with no utterly devistating blow out holes. On the plus side I put a new stiff shaft in my Nike covert 1.0 3w and the difference has been night and day! Average distance is 250 off the tee whereas previously it was 213 yards. My misses with the old club where always big slices when I went hard at the ball. Now it's a much better, consistent draw and the only time I miss right is when I push the ball out there! No more power slices off the tee! Regards Mailman

Christian, Hows your golf going mate? Played any rounds lately? Regards Mailman

I joined the October Long Drive Challenge and was excited to see that after my first round my average driver distance was about 265 yards so imagine my surprise when my stats came up as 214 yards instead? So I fired off a question to the game golf team and the answer was that the long drive competition takes in to account ALL par4 and 5 drives regardless of the club used, hence why my average was only 214 instead of 265. Anyway game golf people, the question is how do I go about creating an actual long drive challenge that ONLY takes in to account the driver? Because at the moment I can't see a way to actually do that? For those of us that play on tighter courses where you have to actually use some skill to get around (i.e. all your clubs in your bag) we are at an instant disadvantage over those who's courses tend to be longer or more open to start with. Regards Mailman

Give each site a test run. See if both offer teaser lessons and use that to gauge which you like the most and go from there. As you are about to essentially invest in their business with your lovely hard earned money you need to make sure the decision you make is the right one otherwise its money down the drain. Regards Mailman

I'm interested in elite supporter membership BUT does the testing programme extend to the UK? Regards Mailman

Thank you GG! :)

Nothing is insurmountable :) lots of things could have been done. Match play type games and stroke play for both men and women played by amateurs instead of pros. I guess we will never know but what ever happens I'm sure it will be a great event and one I'll watch anyway :) Mailman

I've joined the September long drive and GIR challenges yet none of my rounds seem to count? Any ideas? Regards Mailman

Missed opportunity really. Would have preferred a Ryder Cup format instead of just big standard strokeplay. Mailman

We spend £500 on irons, £300 on drivers, £60 an hour on lessons yet the moment you lose a 2p tee it's the end of the world! To be fair, if a person can afford to lose £3 premium balls and they prefer to play them then more power to them...plus there is eBay ready to satisfy your every golfing need on the cheap! :) Mailman

The only balls I haven't got on with have been calloways for some reason? Every time I hit one it just feels like a rock?!?! Love the Pro V1 but in the winter o switch to Srixon distances balls. Regards Mailman
