  1. I have heard from various sources that you should grip down on the club 1/2 to 1 inch. I grip at the end of the club 90% of the time though, unless I am in between distances. Wedges are a different story and I always grip down a good inch or more on those.
  2. Buy your putter used. Pick up a Tom Watson 56 wedge ($30). That is all you will need this year.
  3. I would play the cheaper courses until the 60 bucks was gone. Then I would spend my time practicing as much as I could when my money was gone.
  4. Cink is a really good bet. Kenny Perry has a shot, but Ill go with AK.
  5. 175 golf bucks spent my SC. Don't regret it for a second!
  6. I had a run in with the moderator when I first joined and started posting. I felt like I was not able to speak my mind. I realized though that the way I like to speak my mind is maybe a bit to forceful and not always in good taste. I could have pushed it further but decided that it was not my Forum and I had every right to leave if I didnt like it. I decided that this site is pretty great and so are all the people here so I have learned to abide by the rules. I am glad I did it is worth it. I like how things are run on this forum now I realized that the rules end up weeding out the people that ultimately are just causing trouble.
  7. I shot an 87 yesterday with 40 putts I decided to spend the next 2 weeks working on nothing but my putting. Of course after the 2 weeks my putting will be back on track but my drives will probably be crap. I try to shoot for 36 putts per round. If I do better then that great, if not I am still satisfied.
  8. Nope I am not a Dave Matthews fan. Just a small world.
  9. Hey you you never said anything about the 15's! We are not so bad, a little sarcastic but nothing to be scared of.
  10. Yo good to see another CheeseHead on the site. There are getting to be alot of us!
  11. I love my HiBore XL. Feels so awesome when you smack it on the sweet spot. I get great distance from it to.
  12. Supernaut - Black Sabbath
  13. I can relate to your frustration. Although I am shooting in the upper 80's and low 90's. (and I have shot 39 twice this year) A good example is on Saturday I shot an 87 then I turn around on Sunday and shoot 100. Or the week before I shot a 50 on the front and then follow it up with a 40 on the back. That is the cruelty of this game that we love so much. In my case it was my putter that let me down too. I am just happy that overall I am making progress. I started this year with a 17.4 and I am now at 15.8
  14. Lets put this to rest. The semi-bladed chip shot that checked up for me is what OPENED my eyes to what this ball was really capable. It proved to me (by accident) the spin power of this ball. It doesnt mean I am only going to play Pro VI's now. I love to play them when I find them though. I am capable like I said of getting other balls to check just fine (bridgestone e5). I agree with you that it is not some kind of magic ball. In fact I think I see your point a little clearer now. I certainly don't think that I will be able to blade shots and have them end up just fine because I used a pro v1.
  15. I have am currently playing the BH-5 irons (non-offset). I have mixed feelings about them. I played a set of Tommy Armour 845's before I bought the Hogans and I liked the 845's but felt like it was time to try something "new". The BH-5's feel great the shafts are great and they are a great club and have even better price. I have the non offset and my shots are going left with a slight draw something I am not accustomed to. I dont like the draw shot shape and had more of a fade with the Armours. What I am trying to say here is you should avoid getting the offset version. IF you can still find the non offset version of the BH-5 I think you can learn to hit them without a horrible slice. I think even the non offset are offset, after all they are game improvement irons... Feel free to PM me if you have anymore questions about the BH-5's
  16. I dont think your hatin'. I agree.
  17. Honestly I really don't understand why you even care how I come to my decisions...? You are reading a little too much into this topic IMO.
  18. I got mine last week. I am impressed that they sent two sleeves of balls. I figured they would send a sample 2 -ball pack or something. Pretty sweet!
  19. Yes I am forming an opinon on how the ball reacted to a mishit. I can normally get my normal balls to check up just fine. I have never had a ball check up on a semi-bladed wedge shot. I semi blade or blade a wedge shot maybe once a round. My wedges are the best part of my game. If I had been using my normal Callaway Bite ball it would have sailed over the green and OB. So it is nice to know that I can mishit a wedge and still have it check up. I fail to see how this could be a concern?
  20. Not a big fan of Camillo. He can do whatever he wants and wear whatever but that Spiderman pose thing seems way to contrived to me.
  21. My sentiments exactly. I had an almost identical experience using a pro v1 for the first time a few weeks ago. Everything you describe happened to me. I even had the same semi bladed lob wedge shot from 60 yards out! That is the shot that sold me. I couldnt believe that ball actually stopped immediatly instead of bouncing off the back of the green.
  22. I was not surprised at all. I would have been surprised if he had won. I was hoping he could get it done as it would have made a fantastic story but the final day unfolded exactly how I expected. It was asking alot for Greg to be able to close the deal in the Open after not playing nearly enough competitive golf over the last 10 years to keep his mind/game sharp enough to win a major. Overall I think he did a great job and it was fun to watch him contend.
  23. I like the idea of a valuables pouch. The problem is if you lose the pouch or someone steals it you lose all your valuables. So I keep some stuff in my car and some in my valuables pocket in my golf bag.
  24. I agree with you mikelez. I still think he should be playing the Open but after reading the article you have posted his reasons for not playing make more sense now. Thanks for the post.
  25. Try the Inside Approach. For $25 you cant go wrong. I got one a few months ago and it is a great training aid. It gives you a nice visual of how to take the club back and through. This visual stays with you on the course. It helped me cure my slice!
