I tend to be 50/50. I play half my outtings alone and will pair up with another single or group if they are teeing off when I get there after work. Otherwise the only time I play with a group during the week is on league night. Weekends are hit or miss depending on the work schedules and family events of the few guys in my circle of friends that do golf.

He's a bit of a stickler for the rules, which none of us mind, so he wouldn't just hit it.
-
Yes it was for handicap so he went back and teed it up again.

Here's a question that fits here instead of making a new one. Friday one of my playing partners hit his drive in the fairway. Another group playing the hole next to us hit his drive into our fairway. None of us marked our balls as we were all playing different brands. Unfortunately he was playing a Wilson pro staff as was the guy who hit his into our fairway. Neither knew which ball was theirs with 100% certain. They were about five yards apart and my partner had a good idea which one was his but not 100% certain. He proceeded under decision 27/10 was he right? Or would playing a ball he was fairly certain was his be the way to go?

My goal was to play more this year after some back issues. Accomplished that. Next was hit 50% or more fairways and I have accomplished that last few rounds. Big goals coming for 2015.

Going to have to check out this book. Looks like it is up my alley.

Speaking of stars these are the ones I keep every round. Fairways hit, #of putts and #of shots from 125 in to get on the green. The higher the fairways hit and lower the other two are the lower my score.

Had the best round of the summer today. 95 at the home course. Finally put together a decent front and back nine.

These are my most recent numbers. All based on the gps golf apps and range. Have tuned in the wedges thanks to some days with the course empty and using the yardage markers. Dp not carry all these every round. That's one thing I like about mine is they have a "welcome" committee that sets up potential members with members to play a round or two. You get to enjoy the place for a day or two to see if it's right for you.

I belong to a semi-private club. It used to be private with waiting list etc but economic times changed that. The staff is great and they tend to know you by name which is a nice touch. The membership is welcoming however like every club it has its I'm to good for anyone else members. They definitely are the minority though. Fees are great and course is challenging and well maintained. The one good thing is I have about 6 courses within a 20 minute drive so they have to compete for members which helps keep the attitudes in check.

I can see your point. Maybe best thing is to make all these unplayable which in all cases they are seeing how one cannot play a lost ball or one that's in a pond or one out of the course boundaries. -

Then the most equitable thing would be let those that are visible in a hazard be played or deemed unplayable at the player sees fit. The then can take a two club length drop under 28 C. to speed play and make it easier or what ever choice they want under the unplayable ball rule. The problem I have is if the ball is in the middle of the lake or stream it is for all intent and purpose lost or out of bounds. They should treat those circumstances the same way. -
Agree 100% it's starting to get to the best golf weather in the south. Mild not as humid and you can walk 18 without losing 100 pounds of sweat. Oct to early Dec and March to May are great in SC.

I believe the lost ball stroke and distance has been fairly constant since the beginning. Personally water hazards should be treated the same it is lost after all. Same for ob. Treat all three as stroke and distance or none at all. -
Shot 50 on the back nine after work today and it is killing my scores lately. Front nine I'm averaging 40-45 but the back is always 10 or more strokes higher. Back is longer so probably has a lot to do with it. Course is 3051 front 3156 back 70.0/129.

I don't believe it reflects poorly on you. You have addressed it with him which is all you can do. I would just leave it at your doing what's right and you obviously cannot change him at this point. Maybe suggest to the officers prior to the tourney to have each cart score the other cart. This way he's not scoring the card for himself. I'm only being easy on him because the other guys have to have noticed his scoring and have not called him out which I know of I would have even in a joking manner...the group I play with always has a remark for fuzzy math. Hey I thought 3+4 was 7 not 5 or double bogie is 2 over part right? Suttle but obvious remarks are all it usually takes for the occasional "slip."

To the OP is there money or awards on the line? I'm willing to bet others have noticed what he does and just let it go. While confronting him is the right thing to do sometimes it's just not the best thing to do. If it's a major issue with the others then let them handle it and keep your relationship with your dad if it's important to you and one you want to keep. You only get one father in life and after all golf is just a game.

Three for me. Par three about 180 over water. Hit tee shot into water. Took drop and proceeded to chunk it into the water out of frustration and then got hit next drop into bunker left side of hole. Proceeded to hit it out of bunker only to have it land to far past the flag and proceed to roll into the lateral hazard on the right side of the green. Needless to say it was a rough hole.

Golf Channel Unveiling "Relaxed" Rules Of Golf
Flav replied to boogielicious's topic in Rules of Golf
I think it is odd that they want to relax rules for those that odds are do not follow them anyway. I honestly cannot think of another sport that would change its rules to help introduce new players or make it "easier" for beginners. Every other sport does change the field of play from smaller fields for little league to shorter baskets or half court for young basketball players but keep the core rules in place no matter the level of play. Golf already has different " fields". They are par three courses or executive courses or even moving up to the forward tees. There is no need for a second set of rules. If you want to go play some variation of golf with your buddies then great no one is stopping you. Just do not brag about or post the scores as real scores. Golf is the only sport where players police themselves and is the one sport where a less skilled player can compete on a more level playing field by using the handicap system. That system relies on everyone playing by the same set of rules and honestly. -
No clue about that first response either. I was amazed to see the difference, even as slight as it is, in play with or without warming up. It's usually 3-5 strokes difference on the first four holes but that could be the difference between 90's or 80's for me.

I see it works in a few countries with 100 and 900 courses respectively. I doubt very much it would work here. My state alone has roughly 200 or more courses. It would create a huge divide between those that chose to implement it and those that say ya right come play here with no license. Basically it would become the second coming of the private elite course vs the public/muni track. Golf is on the decline in this country and especially with the younger generations. Why do something that could make it worse.
