"The Eyeballing Game" - Post Your Best Scores
RogueGolfer replied to iacas's topic in The Grill Room
Bisect angle0.3---- Easiest one I guess. -
Amen to that! I wonder how he would have done in Nance's position at the Master's.

One way to look at it is that if the hat was never found you still wouldnt have it. Just trying to take the sting out of the situation. Yea I dont think I would ever wear a hat I "found".

Thats a bit of a blanket statement, I dont like the Ryder Cup so I am not a fan? I dont care for the Pro Bowl either so I must not be a fan of football. It is hard to try to reason with someone who deals in absolutes.
-
I must be be incredibly naive to think that dinners and some hoopla shouldnt hamper a golfers ability to succeed. I guess the Super Bowl and Olympics must not truly show who is the best as those affairs are anything but normal. To top things off I havent met anyone here in the states that really cares about the Presidents Cup or the Ryder to the extent that they seem dissappointed one way or the other. Kinda like when we lose in the World Cup every 4 years, big whoop. I am sure there are passionate fans here in the states for these events but by and large it seems only the golf pundits make a big deal of it. Bottom line is that it is only a week, it doesnt define your career, and it looks real petty to whine about it.

What I think upsets most folks who read or hear his comments is the fact that they are scraping by to put gas in their tanks and pay the mortage while he gripes about playing golf and eating dinners. Tiger may have hinted at these same facts but he shows a little more class, as do the rest of the pros who just grin and bear it. Sometimes professional athletes need to put things in perspective before ranting, they are in the public eye so are held more accountable for anything they say or do.

Reading thru this thread I didnt see a mention of the marshalls. Arent they the ones that are supposed to keep pace of play and not us having to get into confrontaions with other groups. Only time I have seen a marshall at the courses I frequent is when my nephew wanted to caddy for me one day and on 17 one drove up to see if he was playing and had paid. Never saw one on one of the many 5+ hours rounds I have had to endure.

Master Teeing Off With an Iron Thread
RogueGolfer replied to GlobeGuy's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I was watching Arnold Palmer talk about how Hogan always said to get some wood under the ball if you can so he took it to heart. If its good enough for those two maybe they were onto something. -
Does going to the range really help?
RogueGolfer replied to Chilidipper's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I use to think that very same thing but now I dont know. I go to the range and look like a scratch golfer. Hitting every iron and wood where I want to with real good accuracy. I get to the course and duck hook about every other drive. Its like I am Jekyll and Hyde. -
Will WOMEN ever get to PLAY the at the Masters?

I dont see any of these women winning at Augusta. Great stats but with the course playing the way it does with the pin positions avalible, the women would be hitting some long irons into them if not using a hybrid or wood. Onto greens that cause the ball to roll before you can putt it. Forgot to add that as much as the LPGA is fun to watch for me I just dont believe men and women have to share everything. Nothing stopping the women from getting together and creating their own "Augusta". -
What Is Your Record Score on the Tiger Woods PGA Tour Games?
RogueGolfer replied to mgolfer's topic in The Grill Room
Have you guys played the pc versions using the true swing option? I find it much tougher than the 3 click swing. Tough to break 60 for me with an average character. -
I sure would like to know why the ladies use the caddies so much to line up their shots. It is the one thing that bothers me about the LPGA, it seems having a caddie is advantage enough without having someone line up every shot for you. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will clue us in.

Hogan Hawk's for me, I really like the feel and get plenty of spin and alot of distance. If I cant get Hawks I get the E6 by Bridgestone.

How many of your are Ebay buyers?
RogueGolfer replied to ChvyKc's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
An engineer friend of mine who does alot of work in China brought back an entire set of Taylor Made R7 draw clubs, including bag, for $100 last year. He said in the market places they are everywhere. We compared them visually to a real set and you cannot tell the difference. If it looks too good to be true it probably is. I buy alot on ebay but it is from the reputable dealers there, I occasionally buy from the private seller and my experiences have been mostly positive. -
Note To Tour Pros: How to Talk About a Match With Tiger
RogueGolfer replied to Jeepthrills's topic in Tour Talk
I enjoyed the match except for that exagerated pre-shot routine. JB played great and did what everyone else in the world does to have a chance to beat Tiger, dont give it to him and make him beat you. About the coverage by The Golf Channel, I think covering a match play event is much tougher. Every group has important shots as where in a regular event you really have just a few groups to worry about. You only have to show the other players that are out of contention when they make a great shot. As far as the coverage of Tiger by The Golf Channel goes, seems he is the only one with his own thread on how to play him. -
Courses in Austin/Central Texas?
RogueGolfer replied to UWSig's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
When I was living down there I always loved playing The Bandit. It's between San An and Austin, toughest course in the area in my opinion. Austin courses were just too pricey for me. -
Marshalls at the courses in my area rarely do anything but drive around and make sure you are sticking to cart rules. Many a 5 hour round I have endured due to 5 somes. It bothers me when folks get so worked up about waiting and slow play thay they forget why they are playing in the first place. Its a fact of life when playing this game and will probably get worse before it gets better. I just try and do one thing when the pace of play begins to slow to a crawl, I would rather be waiting around on a golf course than doing practically anything else.

Glad to find a site with so many addicts like myself. I have already gleaned a few tips and look forward to reading many more post from you folks.

Best looking irons? Have your say.
RogueGolfer replied to Hacksaw's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Personally my opinion is the Ben Hogan FTX's, check the avatar out. -
A pull is when the ball starts out to the left(if your a right handed golfer). A push is when you start it out to the right(once again if your a right handed golfer).
-
Sounds to me like a bit of a pull with a fade spin on the ball, I have done that a few times. Or I like number 3 on the previous post, it never seems like the ball is where you thought it landed.

23 ft double breaker birdie putt, slipped in the back door. Good day for both myself and the wife, she finally found her driver.
