  1. Nice, lumping NZ and Australia together is like call lumping Canucks and Americans together! Facts= totally unsubstantiated personal opinion- in this case. Being outspoken or forthright does not necessarily equal rude or sexist. Odd how NZ was the first country in the world to have women voting and have far a far greater % of female members of parliament than either the US or Canada.
  2. Some get sold on to buddies, others given to caddies
  3. Nothing wrong with the MZ 25 for someone in your position, a few years old, but a quality iron that should be better than very old Dunlops, that probably were not great when they were new.
  4. Good solid advise form Beachcomber. To be honest, within reason there is nothing wrong with your Machspeeds as long as they are more or less fitted/ suited to you and your swingspeed etc. You could easily play those MS down to a 10 or even lower handicap (plenty of single digits golfers play the Ping G series as an example). That's the head speaking, but if you are really after something else and your hearts set on it, just go for, get fitted and play whatever suits your eye. Many would say your money, in terms of improving, would be better spent on lessons and more time on the course. The clubs are good enough and with new irons you won't see a significant improvement in your game. You will probably get worse for a while whilst you adjust to the new gear. My $0 .02 worth
  5. Synonyms- techy - testy - irritable - petulant - peevish - fretful. I accredited major wins to a caddy, thought that might have been fairly blantant in terms of sarcasm, given that so many threads were bagging Steve for carrying on like he won the majors. Perhaps someones sarcasm monitors need re-calibration? Sorry it was a clumsy troll........
  6. Rockbottom or 3balls.com pretty good source of new or used quality oem clubs at decent prices
  7. Ooops I will use a sarcasm spoiler next time. My my we are tetchy today ladies
  8. Congrats Steve major number 14, or is it 15? 13 with Tiger, anything with Norman or Floyd? Some people just going to hate! He is a strong willed Kiwi, get over it, he didn't get brought up in a litigation sensitive world of smarmy political correctness. His boss was obviously happy with the job he did, why should his conduct so upset the narrow minded?
  9. Yep I was just gonna say, ask his back why others don't copy this swing!
  10. Plays lotsa golf and surfs
  11. For me they are easier to follow in the air period. Past my mid 40s and now into wearing reading glasses etc they yellow ball is definitely easier to see in flight, much the same on the ground
  12. I have been hit twice and it not good! Having said that I have hit into/ near others, unintentionally, not seen them in dead ground etc/ not paying attention. Ignorant people not aware they are holding others up can be a pain, but it is still pretty hard to justify hitting others. Although its confrontational, its better to say something to them rather than risk hitting someone.
  13. Seen it a few times. I played as a member at a club that had three single digit handicappers hitting cack handed. Another was a greenkeeper, hit the ball a mile and played to about a 10, probably could have been lower if he played more and spent less time on the mowers. None of them had injuries, they just played that way, claiming it felt more natural/ they thought it worked better having their master hand (stronger hand) on top of the grip. One commented he wondered why everyone else had their stronger hand in the weaker position on the club.
  14. try using google, you can probably find out how the OWGR works in about 20 seconds. basically a weighted average of the best performance over the last two years. why do people get so irked about someone with no major ranking highly. Its simple math. What do people what a ranking system that only applies to those with a major?
  15. Nice positive thread! NOT LOL, having said that, Bubba talking about Bubba in the third person and Bubba golf is mildly irritating to say the least
  16. I do not enjoy playing solo. The game for me is about getting out playing with buddies or meeting others. Sure I have done it now and then, but never end up playing well, it ends up as an un-focused practice session, dropping extra balls etc. But yes the odd solo round is better than nothing, but not my number one choice. To each their own
  17. Gotta love Cuban tenants, box of Cohibas after each trip they make home!!!
  18. get something inbetwwen a playerd and a GI club- I am still in my now aging Adams A7s, the Wilson Ci series also fits this bill, still an oversized head, but thinner topline, progressive offset and less sole! There are plenty of other - Nike Pro Cavity and its VRs replacement, Cobra Amp also spring too mind, maybe even the Ping G25
  19. My driver, 95 ss, buts me at about 125 yards with a 9 iron. Sure I can hit it 150 if I want to, but in which direction I would never know.
  20. You are getting fitted, so go into it with an open mind and go with the results. There are plenty of clubs around that are sitting in the middle ground between a player club and a GI club, still look restrained but offer a bit off help. Then again its what ever you feel comfortable with.
  21. I think I would play tennis if i was in Russia- Kournikova, Sharipova etc
  22. Its a social game for me. As long as they know the rules and play at a decent pace i generally enjoy meeting other on the course
  23. Ah well, there isn't one coach in the country so no worries from me. Last lesson about 1998
  24. The next hardest part is sticking with what you have been taught, practicing it and not reverting to your old ways in frustration
