  1. Get fitted, if you can't be bothered get a S. I hook the ball at my ss with a r, i can't imagine a 100 ss person to be able to control the whip of an R. Though i've heard that a really smooth swinger at high ss's can still use an R
  2. they hot bite isn't like the Cb's in that the CB's feel light and hot off the face. The hot bite have a heavier feel. The most similar ball to the Cb's is probably the Srixon AD333's. If the AD333's had a firmer core they'd be very very similar the CB blue. Another one to try is the e5+ but it feels heavier and stickier than the CB Blue. The ball market seems to have diverged from the CB Blue, softer and easier to get in the air or firmer 3 peice.
  3. Hi Everyone, I've got a TM burner S shaft driver. I like most things about it but being 170cm (5 foot 6 i think) the 46" is just simply too long. my options: 1. Just grip down 2. get the shaft cut (does this affect the club in anyway? will the shaft become stiffer due to the less length?) 3. get the driver reshaft, if so what good driver shaft comes in 45"? I am generally a smooth swinger with a relatively straight high ball flight which i like. I find with the 46" i push the ball alot.... the only club i do this with... thanks in advance
  4. I full swing with my PW and 52* wedges. If i were you i'd stick with the mp-57 pw. There is nothing wrong with it, it's just as workable, feels just as good and is just as accurate. It's more forgiving and yeah... If i had a 52* option on the mp-57's then i would have got it too... I like the other wedge designes with the different grinds for the 56* and 60* because i do alot of partial swinging with these clubs. Hope that helps.
  5. I have tried all 3 plus the CG12. The CG14's were the best all round, my eyes and heart couldn't deal with the fact that it had an insert.... Thye are just so easy to hit, great for the bunker, apply ample spin and do not shred balls. They are not good for opening the face of the club in tight lies. Neither are the CG12's unless you get the dsg's. For this reason I got the C-Grind for my lob. It allows for a really open face but gives me the bounce I need for the normal shots. These rip up the balls... majorly... it's a good thing that i don't full swing my wedges... (I always 3/4 swing the wedge above it, gives me good accuracy). My dad has two SM's. 60* and 56*. They feel great and apply great spin on 1/2 swings (better than the CG's) but it gets excessive on 3/4 to full swings... (sucks back 5-10 yards if you're not careful) They also destory balls. I found the CG12/14's to be easier out of the bunker and rough due to the heavier head weight. There's a reason why Golf Mag and Rankmark (something like that) and GD have the top award to the CG14. If you can get past the fact that it's got an insert... they're a good logical choice.
  6. I'd be very careful about moving to an S driver on a predictive basis... I've seen people swing harder purely because they know the club will allow for it and then completely mess up their swings. Don't change your loft unless your launch angle says you're hitting too high. thanks
  7. Hard question... A very good player will still play well with a rock A very poor player will still play poorly with a well fitted ball... From the poorest fitting ball to the perfect ball for you maybe there's 4-5 strokes in it? Dunno? In the end the ball that fits you will allow for a more enjoyable time out on the course.
  8. Get the Gap you'll need it way more than the 3 iron considering that you already have a 5 wood.
  9. TM tp black is one fine ball. Distance, spin, feel, it's all there and in the rigth combinations for my game
  10. It can depending on why you slice. If your face is opening at impact due to twisting then steel is better. If you're head is not kicking through the ball at impact then graphite will help you.
  11. The r7's are fantastic. Two of my mates play them and they are nice looing clubs that aren't too "game improvement". They feel nice and hot, easy to hit, hit high, workable and yeah =) The Clevelands you mention are very nice as well, if you don't mind the insert you may quite like them. Also do try the ping g10's. They might be a bit ugly but from most reports they're great clubs.
  12. Oh something to add re this thread. M first clubs were 2nd hand wilson blades which were cut 4 inches. They were rediculously hard to use. Dad did it on purpose so that i'd learn quicker...
  13. I use the 9.5 and get a launch angle of 16... But i don't want to go any less loft
  14. The way I see it, it's their money. If it makes them happy, go for it. Yes it is counter productive for their game but maybe they're people that just have fun trying new clubs and have the finance to fund it. If that's what makes them happy, good on the. There are too many unhappy people out there.
  15. I almost never play balls i find unless I'm playing really really really bad. I find that playing the same ball over and over again has made my short game much more consistent.
  16. Sorry I don't know feet and inches I'm 1.7m with a 34" putter
  17. Completely agree, need to avoid disaster holes. The one where you shank out of no where or skull it off the tee into the nearby bush because at 5-10 handi you're doing most things right.
  18. No... I had the Ping G10 3W first and was considering the G10 driver but i found the burner easier to hit and more pleasing at address (prolly making it easier to hit)
  19. Unless you have a rediculously well groved swing just get the mp-57 and take some pressure off yourself. If you have a rediculously well groved swing get the mp-32 (for me the best feel and workability). You'll find that the mp-57 is plenty workable, reasonably forgiving and yeah... not sure you'll gain much from the mp-60 compared to the mp-57. I've never hit the mp-30 before.
  20. Oh ok that's fine, Did you find the results accurate to you?
  21. Hi Everyone, A couple of months back we had a nice ball test by Golf Magazine. I was wondering if anyone had experiances where your results were completely different to what they reported. Many people say that one should not think too long and hard about the figures they report unless you swing the exact same way as the machine and I was wondering if this was true. 2ndly, can someone pls post the 105 ss distance for the e5+, nxt tour, gamer, tp burner and hot bite? I'm in Australia and I can't get a copy of the magazine and I am considering experimenting with the above balls. thanks in advance,
  22. If you like the hot bite be sure to try the gamer. Same company, same specs, different dimples and cheaper...
  23. I play the NXT Tour but I have yet to try the Taylormade TP blacks which may really suit my game. Otherwise I haven't found a better cost/performance ball.
  24. What i find confusing about nippon is that they have too much choice. For a nice high flight for that swing speed look into the 850 or 950... the 750 is probably too light.
  25. Ping G10 3 wood. Tight fairways off the tee are no longer an issue
