  2. Perhaps a signed glove would've pleased him.
  3. Here's a solution... Require all passengers to recline, then all will be equidistant.
  4. Good choice on Timber Banks, everyone I know raves about it. Assuming you played the west course at Drumlins and for $25 it's not too bad. You probably noticed the east course (private) is in much nicer shape. Green Lakes is operated by NYS Parks and usually maintained well and a fun layout. You saved a bunch of cash by not including Turning Stone at this time of year. If you visit your family during the fall, check out their rates. We played Shenendoah last September or early October and it was $50 including cart.
  5. Do what's right, otherwise the golf gods may wreak havoc on your game.
  6. Nicest public ones (IMO). Syracuse, NY: Drumlins. But the following are much nicer and not much of a drive from Syracuse. Baldwinsville, NY: Timber Banks, Radisson and Foxfire. Fayetteville, NY: Green Lakes. Marcellus, NY: Links at Sunset Ridge. Camillus, NY: Camillus CC (clubhouse burnt down recently)
  7. My dad was a club pro so of course he taught me the game and I'm addicted. Not sure how old I was when I started playing all the time, sometime during my elementary school years.
  8. Same as stroke.
  9. 1) Have the best player play the front nine with one group of three, then have him/her play the back nine with the other group of three. 2) You're correct.
  10. From the tee your provisional will be lying 3. If you do not find your first ball, then you play the provisional and will be hitting 4. Edit: I type too slow. David in FL already explained it.
  11. Standing over a putt with someone walking within my peripheral vision bugs me. Usually they're retrieving the flagstick or their club laying on the green. I back off the ball and start over.
  12. Yes. With Tiger playing pain free the intimidation factor will kick back on and he'll swiftly rise to #1
  13. JetBlue has curbside baggage check too, costs $2.00 plus a tip, worth it for the non-lugging around.
  14. We have a group that goes to Orlando every March and we fly JetBlue. The first checked bag is free, so we check our clubs and take a carry-on (no charge) for our clothes. I always pack two dozen balls and they've said nothing about that over the past few years. Their listing is just a suggestion, it's important to be within the weight limit & that's easy. I also put all the bathroom stuff in with the clubs. Buy a case and take your own weapons, you'll be happier.
  15. Swatting at the grass behind his ball was not a good move, could be considered improving his lie.
  16. A rule book or download them on your phone. Some spare ball markers, Tylenol, Tums and Band-Aid's. If you wear contacts, a spare pair or two & saline solution. Fingernail clippers and dental floss are handy at times too.
  17. Pin attenders who are oblivious to their own shadow cast.
  18. In the meantime, get her the pocket size on the Rules of Golf (or have her download it). Let her know, for now, all she needs to understand is the section on etiquette. And at some point she'll need to abide by the rest of the book.
  19. Probably extra virgin olive oil.
  20. If you mean padding, no. If you're referring to 1/4" plywood, only if the existing subfloor can not be prepped to make smooth/flat enough.
  21. The outdoor carpet will work. It's available in several pile styles & colors. The one that imitates grass (astroturf) would be a good choice. Get the cut pile one in a decent quality. Most stores stock the base grade (which is junk) - ask to see samples for the better products. They all made in a 6' & 12' width, so you'll be able to do your job in one piece. Be sure to seal the raw edge (where you cut thru the carpet to make the hole) with seaming adhesive, so it does not fray. If you're gluing it down, use a pressure sensitive adhesive.
  22. Correct. The other guy is not a pro but a decent golfer. Picture was taken at a pro-am a few years back.
  23. I just enjoy reading anything related to golf. Especially this time of year as our season approaches! It was about one year ago when I reading a few different golf forums (for entertainment) and this group was the most interesting, so I joined and blurt out every now & then.
  24. Have been a member for almost one year and I'll never change it. I'm not pictured in my avatar, but do you recognize either/both of the two shown?
  25. Shorts and/or slacks, depending on the weather. Sometimes long underwear beneath the slacks. Years ago I mostly wore slacks, for some reason I played better with slacks vs. shorts. Probably a mental factor.
