  1. Interview on BBC. Tiger not happy with the organiser mucking around with the greens speed. I thought that was a fair comment.
  2. Have I said it already? Hogan Apex, True blade. No offset. Shaft 1/2" shorter than ordinary clubs these days. Face angle 2 degrees weaker than most clubs. Justin Leonard was using it when playing his best golf. Shame that the company couldn't make it.
  3. In order of priority I would put: 1) Play fast 2) Play by the rules 3) Play with rigid etiquette The last thing you want is really for someone to spend 10mins looking for the ball and then walk back to the tee when it could not be found. Playing out of turn is also fine by me.

    Green Side Spin

That's because DT Solo is a bloody good ball. I would have preferred DT Solo with my standard of play over ProV1. I also liked its predecessor, the DT Spin over the Tour Professional 90. Apart from less durability, I didn't notice much difference between DT Solo and ProV1 in both distance and spin.
  5. I believe most if not all elite sports person work very hard and most are carrying some sort of injury one way or the other going into a competition. You are unlikely to find anyone 100% fit with no injury whatsoever. My gripe with Tiger is that why does it have to be one person who would make the field feel like they are winning only because the No.1 man is injured? Why can't he carry on with a bit more dignity? It wasn't the first time he was injured. He has been injured more seriously with a freaking potential career ending ACL and he did not wince once and in spite of that, and he won the Open and a lot of hearts in the process. I just find it so below him to do that and it frustrates me. In any game and any competition, I am unlikely to enjoy playing with an opponent that display his injuries true or fake. It just put me off and made any potential victory feels hollow and unworthy. Similarly, I wouldn't want to put my opponents in the same situation. I think the game and opponents deserve a lot more respect than that. If I am unfit, sick and ill, I will withdraw politely.
  6. Have you played golf with a guy that would wince every single time he hit a golf shot? Yes, it does bother me. I haven't played through serious injury because I knew the best thing to do is to rest and recover if I have one. To put it in parallel example with tennis, this is the reason why players were so annoyed with Djokovic earlier in his career. He would look sick every time he is losing a point and feel like he is going to lose a match just to put his opponent off or maybe find himself an excuse. He literally looked like he was dying.
  7. Well said. If he is fit, he should carry on. If he deemed himself unfit, he should perhaps walk away and not distract the other golfers that were playing alongside him and stop that wincing nonsense. Where was that spirit that won him the US Open beating Rocco Mediate? No one knew he was injured until it was all over and I'd rather see that spirit come through and win lots more admiration along the way. Other than that, my thoughts on this year's US Open were: 1) Phil really taking his putting to the next level. Always inspiring to see someone putt so good and pure. 2) Hecklers of Sergio should really back off. Concentrate on watching the tournament and cheering for your favourite player instead of boo-ing someone. I don't really see how anyone could benefit from heckling a player; it doesn't make you a better person for sure. It is the US Open so please show some class.
  8. Adam Scott has got the swagger. Go Adam!
  9. [quote name="Slice of Life" Loft can be set to as low as 5 degrees. [/quote] They have a name for it - putter
  10. FLW is very important to have a good ball striking and prevents scooping or hitting it thin. TGM probably put most emphasis on FLW. Where Adam Scott used to have a little cupped wrist at set up, his LW are flatter these days. Most European Tour players like setting up with FLW. A bit mechanical and stiff to look at but it seems to be working for them.
  11. Went on Saturday but skipped Sunday as I have to go back to Frankfurt for work. There weren't any big names left on Saturday apart from Lee Westwood and Ernie Els. Followed the last 3 groups for 18 holes and overall I find Wentworth greens a really small target and weren't easy. I took some videos of Ernie Els at the driving range and will post it up later. The tournament has a nice carnival feel to it and the organisers have done really well with the tournament village. Food and drinks stalls are set up at least in 12 out of the 18 holes. My mate and I are thinking about going back again next year.
  12. I am attending this weekend's European Tour BMW PGA at Wentworth Golf Club. Should be fun. Also got a Corporate entry so that I could attend autograph signing sessions. I also wanted to check out what are the new clubs in the bag of McIIroy's. Apparently Sergio was getting quite a good reception yesterday.
  13. 690 CB have cavity backed long and mid irons and the shorter irons are muscle back. It also has progressive offset. I used to have the bladed 690MB and strangely I find the MB easier to hit than the CB. The 690CB were not very forgiving clubs and although you are getting a pretty good deal , I would advise you to try before you buy to see if you like the look and feel.
  14. I say go for it. The tour irons (depending on the brand) has no offset and the club face are less closed. In theory, this should help you to shape the ball better if your swing mechanics are sound. You force yourself to work on your swing as everything about the club is so neutral. It was hard getting used to it at first but persevere and you are unlikely that you will come back to cavity or off-set clubs after getting the hang of playing tour irons.
  15. Is it possible to say the comment was racist but Sergio is not? A bit like Mel Gibson?
  16. I used to be a dick myself throwing tantrums and worried the hell out of my ex-gf who played golf with me; all born out of unrealistic expectation like aiming for that small outlet between trees and expecting to hit 200m from the rough. I didn't how detrimental was the impact until years later when I was in the receiving end of it after being paired up as a single ball. It was real bad and maybe a bit of a karma for me. It spoils everyone's game being a bitch on the course. I had the same pair of Sergio's Addidas shoes (2000) from the video. It was absolutely horrible with little or no grip. You will slip even putting. Left it in the locker room and don't ever want to see it again.
  17. You have to remember that Sergio's idol was Seve Ballesteros Once, Seve was paired with Chi Chi Rodriguez, the commentator asked if there were a lot of conversation on the course since both speak Spanish. At that point, Seve pointed out that he speaks Spanish but Rodriguez was speaking Hispanic. There you go.
  18. Thanks Rick. I am late to the party. I was still thinking about buying one and give it a last shot although I was never good at it when I borrowed it from my mate. All the long putters could be converted back to normal putters by cutting the shaft and putting on a new grip. The problem is long putters have a heavier head so as long as it isn't used on fast greens I think it should be ok.
  19. I haven't joined a club in Surrey so I am playing in public courses around where I live in Richmond. I will be going to Wentworth PGA this Saturday after winning the tickets in a lucky draw. Might see you there!
  20. What does it mean for a social golfer? If I play golf at my club but does not take part in club competition, will that make it ok to continue using anchored long putters beyond 2016? Could I use the scores from my social round to submit my handicap if I had been using an anchored putter during the round? Or does that rule makes it illegal from all usage?
  21. I tried it for the same reason. More of a placebo thing. I don't really have any evidence to say it works or not. But best to stick with R.I.C.E. it's conventional and safe and sure bet.
  22. Welcome James. I am not too faraway from you in Surrey! Where do you normally play? Edit: saw it, Brighton and Hove.
  23. Lol. I am trying to bring him down to my level lol
  24. Wow. That sounds a bit rich for the pro to charge for demo day. Unless it was a "private" demo day where the club pro needed this funds to get things organised, then it is perfectly fair for him. Still, it seems to defeat the purpose of demo day, which is to let golfers try out and hopefully secure their business and goodwill. All official manufacturer demo days I have been to have been free of charge.
  25. 1 out of 4 coaches I have seen insisted that I fade my driver and mid-long irons to get better control. His reason was this, a fade is more controllable and less likely to result in serious mishits whereas a draw could turn into a hook quite easily. I wasn't really taken into it as I was more than happy to play a draw as long as the spray pattern of my ball wasn't too wide. I couldn't care less if it was draw or a fade. Yes, a fade could be more controllable but I felt consistency is more important than trying to force the issue. But since the SoundandFury is a single-handicapper, he is more than capable to try and experiment. I look forward to hearing more from him on the his experiences.
