James Black is correct in that there is a wide range within their product line. I played a mallet, the Olivia, for a few months but fell into a groove with my current putter and don't see ever changing. The Olivia put a very nice roll on the ball and aligned with supreme ease. It came with an interchangeable weight kit that was well made and easy to dial in to your preference. I disliked the factory grip as I don't care for the spoungy "Winn" putter grips. Forged? I have no idea who is making forged putters. Check the putter forums over on golfwrx.com and you'll see some sweet Machine, Byron and other custom places those guys rave about. Some of these may be forged. Good luck.

Use golflogix on my iPhone. Love it. 39 bucks well spent.

Exactly....I'm plagued with the same erratic scoring.....a rare birdie is always followed with a big...big number.

Try a sleeve and see what you think. I've found them to be very good balls. There is a higher trajectory and they do check up nicely. I don't think they will perform as the ProV1X does. Two very different balls...in my opinion. They feel good off the putter as well. I played the E5 for most of last year.

Heck....it worked for Tiger....or at least that's what Haney said. I watched that show tonight and those comments really had me thinking of tweaking my grip. I've always been scared to try it.

I think some grip changes are coming my way...soon. I'm enjoying being able to play now but want to make some strides this year. I need a few lessons and much range time to get this golf season started off right. Looking at the wear on my golf gloves and my nagging occasional regripping during the transition tells me the grip may be where he starts. Truthfully, I've known changes were needed but I was scared to try because it felt "odd". Stupid logic on my part. I suspect he'll suggest left hand changes and then go from there. Interlock vs. Overlap......I adopted the interlock when I started playing after seeing Jack do it. I just assumed it was "the" way.

I'm the same. I'll play solo rounds just fine until I encounter delays. Then my game can fall off if I don't stay active. My joints get stiff. I'll generaly spend more time practice putting and chipping if it doesn't hold up others. I enjoy the company of friends but sometimes solo time is constructive, too.

Yeah...I did on Monday. The greens were punched & sanded 5 weeks ago but are already rolling nicely. They would roll even better if everone repaired their ballmarks(pet peeve of mine). One thing that I see I'm missing since leaving the Fort is having marshalls monitor the pace of play. BT has been slooooow so far. I feel like it'll only be another 2 weeks and the fairways will green up. I'm free for an early round on Wednesday or anytime Thursday if you want to tee it up. Any idea what the Patch is charging for Master's weekend tee times?

Awesome tournament !!! This is one I've never been to but would love it. I've only been to one tournament, The Masters, but I've been several times & mainly to the practice rounds. I like to arrive as early in the morning as they allow. It's damp and slippery so I always wear my golf shoes. I like to start at the putting green to see who is about to tee off. I may walk back to the range to see who is warming up. From there I'll wait and watch groups of interest tee off at one and come back on two. Like the guys above mentioned, I drink lots of water in the morning when I'm working my way around. A Pimento cheese and a chicken sandwich hits the spot and then sit for a while and enjoy some beer at 12, 13, 15 green-16 tee. It's fun to sit near 16 green, too. Basically water up & walk in the morning and sit & sip in the afternoon.

Rexx...it will happen!!! My eagle on Tuesday was simply blind luck....that made for some good laughs.

I suspect drglew may be onto something regarding the offset in the irons.

Good Putters make a huge difference.

Confidence in your flat stick is a major component to fun golf. That's great that your done so. -
I love my 58* LW. If I had to drop a wedge it would be my UW. I'll go 2-3 rounds and not use it. The LW gets played every round at least twice. My 58* LW has a ton of bounce so I'll use it from bunkers as well.

I know there is a growing demand for it locally but the shops are scared of carrying much of an inventory. They say the new TE sticks are priced way above other brands, but then are sold at cut rate prices online within 6 months. I tried some of their fairways on the range early last year...very nice.

Eagles are a rare event for me....normally on much shorter par 5s. I'd say I've averaged one for every year I've played. I've never dreamed of one on a hole that long. Plain old luck is all it was. Maybe another one could be in store this year. My new track has 2 fives on the front and 3 on the back, also the 17th is a four of 297 yards with little trouble. The guys yesterday were left with simple chip shots for their seconds. I hope today's round will be good...we have 3 foursomes checking out a sweet course in the country...an hour drive. Our hope is to recon it today & book tee times for Masters Week as all the nearby courses charge crazy $$$ for tee times that week. It's no biggie as it helps them be profitable and reduces our annual dues.

I'm really liking the shafts on my current driver and fairways. I know they are the "made for" versions but they are very much to my liking. I'm using stiff flex in all three and for the first time am happy with all three club shafts. My previous 3 wood was too whippy, 5 wood too stiff and so on. These are great for me. They are easy to hit but yet retain enough spine to stay straight and maintain a consistent trajectory.

Very rusty....I put today's results in another thread. Tempo and posture were / are huge areas that I hope to improve for my next round.

$110/month=individual + $15 cart rental. Range membership is $225 /year.

It does beat working!!!! That was a sweet par 5 for you. One to bring you back. I can relate to your experiences. I'm going through a "reintroduction" after many months away. Lots of rust to knock off. Driving has bitten me some these last three outings. I'm rushing the transition and hooking the mess outa some tee shots. One thing I did yesterday was drop back to 3 wood off the tee. Results were nice...hit 75% fairways. Distance losses were not too noticable. Still...I want too hit the big dog. That is great about your Utley short game. His putting method has helped me tons. My knees suck, though, and I struggle with his chipping/pitching method. Keep at it and things will settle down!!!

My advice is to not beat balls repeatedly at the range. We've all done it....hit a shot & rake another ball in place...hit it...etc. Have a ball in place. Stand a few steps behind it. Pick out your target line and target. Make your grip and take a deep breath as you stare down the target line. Step up and address the ball....look down the line at your target & back to the ball...waggle if you wish and then hit the ball. Do this over and over at the range and you'll engrain the rythm and pace. From the time you stand a few steps behind the ball until the time you swing should not take more than 30 seconds. I'd avoid going to any course untill you could do this. Otherwise you'll be holding up your group and generating tension for all. Slow play due to elaborate and involved rituals is enough to drive everyone to the beer cooler too soon. It is enough to make me insane.

Congrats on a super playing partner. It's cool to have shared hobbies. My wife is my best friend but she would seriously disapprove of how I cuss the ball. :) How about some golf related art? A nicely matted & framed golf painting may be a hit. One thing (more of household item) we love around here are the large Tervis tumblers. I've bought them from Augusta National, my college, other golf courses etc. Best drinking cups ever made...insulated, don't sweat, lifetime of use and etc.

After numerous delays I'm finally getting back in the game after 5-6 months of very limited play. Snuck in 18 Sunday and 9 yesterday...dodging rain and wind. Played 18 today at my new home course...perfect weather. Each round is showing more promise. Made my first eagle of 2010 today. No.13, par 5-533 yards. The drive was very poor leaving a tough lie...great recovery shot with 3-wood followed by a smooth 6iron that I was trying to knock down through the gusty wind. Hit the front 1/3 of the green and rolled into the cup like a putt. Blind luck. Here's the funny part...my poor drive was due to me trying to muscle it and keep up with my playing partners...both had hit very nice drives. They both fumbled their approaches, however, and either dunked it in the wash or came up well short of the elevated green. 4&6 shot difference in our scores. I'll try to smooth out the driver swing. I'm also going to get a lesson next week. Range membership will take away all the practice excuses. Putting on the home course is going well...smooth bentgrass greens that are recovering nicely from being punched and sanded 5 weeks ago. This time next month the course will be perfect after the dormant grasses revive.

Best Ball for Mid, Mid-High Handicappers

The E6 is actually a 3 piece ball. I may try some of these this week. -
GPS - Can it tell how far I just hit?
Dub replied to Don223's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Have the same for my iPhone and it works great. -
I think I also get around 80% action out of normal range balls....certainly enough to provide me with the knowledge on how well or poorly I'm hitting it. I don't count on range sessions to "know" my distances...too many variable. That is a shot-to-shot decision for the course.
