  1. that is the funniest thing i have heard all day! i think my entire office heard me laughing! good stuff!
  2. if you like your BB460 then you might want to try a heavier shaft. this will keep it lower (the nvs 55 is VERY light!!!). I believe the shaft plays a VERY important part in getting the correct launch conditions. i have never used one of the launch monitors that golf shops now carry, so you may look into that and see if that can stear you in the right direction. as for your second question. it plays a factor in any golf club...woods or irons. a lot of guys are using the "Spinner" steel shaft in there wedges, made by Royal Precision (Rifle), so there may be something to that shaft of the wedges.
  3. dont forget to update your signature then
  4. i agree is iacas on this one. additionally, i think you chose the wrong club. i would have used a higher lofted club with less bounce so you can dig into the sand because it was not playing "fluffy". i still would have opened my stance slightly like a flop shot so i could take a fuller swing. 1" behind the ball and allow the club to dig with the leading edge, and not the bounce.
  5. I dont know if there is a particular place better than the other around our area. any PGA professional should be experience enough to fit you properly for clubs. In Tacoma at Tacoma Firs Golf Range there are quite a few good pro's that could fit you. Todd Erwin is the head pro there and he is one of the top teaching pro's in Washington state. anyways...get fitted by a pro, and dont just go out there and buy what he says you should get. play with different lengths and lie angles and find out what is best for you. use some sole impact tape for your irons to get a good idea on the correct lie angle for your swing, and play with different length of clubs. there are also fitting charts that may help you get a general idea of what your length/lie may be. http://www.pinggolf.com/pdfs/PING_Color_Code_Chart.pdf
  6. Welcome!
  7. well if you have any shot towards the green, albeit backwards, sideways, whatever...if you can get it on, its better than not getting it on. if you had a legitiment shot sideways, i would have taken that, but if you were in some serious trouble and taking the shot could cause even more trouble, you can always take an unplayable lie penalty and drop the ball within two clubs not nearer the hole (the ball has to stay in the hazard though). that about all you can do i suppose
  8. seriously guys!?!? this is a funny post to read. just watch the golf being played! who cares what who said about who. i heard his comment while watching the broadcast, would never have thought twice about it. who cares what AK plays...hes good...end of story. as for Kostis...again....he knows his stuff and dont take everything you hear so literally.
  9. the best of luck to the guy, but every time i watch him play, he blow up like Tin Cup. Im still rootin for Geof O.
  10. Geof Ogilvy has it locked up
  11. heres a good way to find the proper grip pressure. grip the club normally, hold it straight out in front of you and point the shaft straight up towards the sky. now grip the club just light enough so it doesnt slip out of you hands, then drop the club to 90º (pointing straight away from your body) and that is roughly the proper pressure for a normal swing.
  12. Congrats! way to go man
  13. here is a thread about the water issue http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12509 i personally will never use balls I find it the water...shag bag only, but if I come across a good ball that was in the woods, i'll play it.
  14. i have never used the ESC but after reading this thread, i suppose i'll start using it. I have only posted about 5 holes at a triple or worse (carded a 9 once on a par 5 ). it makes sense to use it because those holes that were garbage, were exactly that...garbage. good thread
  15. i think the 4 wood or a strong 4 is a great option! i am looking to do the same thing (unless the new shaft in my ping i3 17º wood smokes it past the 4) i dont know why, but i LOVE that old club. none of the new woods feel as good as that one, and the ball flight/distance is perfect!
  16. because of gas prices, my new dream car would be the Tesla Roadster http://www.teslamotors.com/ BUT...if gas was good for the environment i would have to go with an Aston Martin DBS
  17. you might be onto something there. instead of getting a higher torque shaft, see if you can find a regular flex that is tip stiff (low torque) and see how that works for you.
  18. Because of reading this article...i have signed up for next years event!
  19. i that case, i choose...Rayden, Scorpion, Goro. hahaha!
  20. i have always used foot joy, but recently switched to the Adidas PowerBand shoe. sooooooooooooooo much more comfortable for my foot. i have narrow feet and Adidas always fit better for me
  21. you should check your club face at the top of you backswing...its probably pointing straight up in the air which would be very closed, and could definately cause the "shrimp/hook." if thats the case, you might check your grip and make sure its not to strong. any video you can get for analysis would be good for us
  22. my dad has only played golf once...and he nearly killed me too...literally! i dont know how he did it, but he hit his tee shot and it hit the tee box marker on the next tee up (which was concrete) and it came straight back at us nearly nailed me in the head! i pooped a little, but i was able to wipe it up with my towel. so....hes not very good, but it was funny to watch him play
  23. Ian Poulter (he would hit you with his clubs) John Daly The Walrus
  24. here are the requirements for the PNGA mens mid-amateur...im sure most state championships are close to this. Championship Details Format: 54-hole stroke play competition (cut to low 60 and ties after 36-holes) Age Limit: 25 years of age or older as of September 9, 2008 Handicap Limit: 8.4 Field Limit: 120 (Field fill method: Exempt players followed by players with lowest handicap indexes/factors at entry deadline) Entry Fee: $200 (US Funds)
  25. looking at the Ping Fitting Chart it does seems long. its saying about +1/4" only. you got some long a$$ arms man! if i were you i would test out a multitude of differnet length clubs (demos often are up to +2" and have a grip that signifies the differnet lengths to hold the club at) and see how they all feel and how impact is.
