  1. Well prov1 shouldn't be the only ball to earn gold...Tour-IX from callaway is just as good if not better. People just associate titleist with golf and it gets out of hand. I also agree with everybody else, NXT Tours play way better than the prov's. I also love the DT Carry, way more than most titleist balls. And from personally experience, callaway balls always seem to be the superior ball. I love the hx hot, hx hot bite, even the occasional warbird.
  2. On my home course i normally just go for par 5's since i know where i can miss short and be fine. Any other place I'd probably lay up.
  3. The mizuno mp-52's and the titleist were the best ones I've hit, but they were way too expensive for my tastes. I also liked the cleveland cg gold. If i'm ever to upgrade my irons itll probably be to cleveland.
  4. My grandpa has one and i used it for about 4 or 5 tournaments during golf season. I loved it. The only problem i had is its so long. Ping adds like 3/4"(??dont quote me on that, but they are longer) to their drivers. I need like an inch taken off for me so, i reshafted my current driver and i have much more control. The rapture is defiently a great club, super super easy to hit.
  5. I bought a mizuno F60 at a golf expo not too long ago, and i love it. It's face is a bit less shallow than most and its suuuper easy to hit off the deck. I normally use it for off tee on shorter holes. It's perfect and easy to hit.
  6. Hehe mine was a slight exageration its been in the 40's constantly, but a couple times we've gone out expecting 40's and it was in the 30's by the end of the round. I live about an hour south of chicago.
  7. My dad and myself read every single book we can find and help each other out while on the course, or while practicing in the back yard. We are by no means experts but we know the basics of a swing and can tell each other what we are doing wrong. He had a free evalution at golfsmith on a demo day and the guy said his swing was near perfect except for his grip so I guess we're doing something right.
  8. Sweet, my girlfriends going to ISU next semester. Nice to see some more illinoisians
  9. *giggle* But seriously its starting to get annoying, i wanna golf in weather above 30 degrees
  10. Aha, this is hilarious. It gets better everytime! You say you lift to look good but pull out your maxes on the first post? If you weren't doing it for strength you wouldn't post a max to attempt to show off. You've shot down almost everyone in this thread except the people who have been making fun of you, and you didn't even realize it.
  11. You said you had "dedication to a weightlifting program." That is obviously a lie because no weightlifting program will exclude deadlift. Simple fact. And yes 185 isn't impressive at all. A close friend of mine is 210, 5'11", starting middle line backer, maxes over 500 in deadlift, and over 400 in squat, and these are last years numbers. He isn't big enough to play football in a D3 school. Not impressive. You need to grow up a little bit. Stop lying on the internet and go make some friends.
  12. Woah you just got your permit when youre 16? I got my license on my 16th birthday, but I'm 18. Man things have already changed that much .
  13. You have a dedication to a weight lifting program yet you just now started deadlifting? I bet you have a very large dedication to golf as well. I was 175 pounds LAST summer(which was my junior year). 185 isn't impressive. If i kept with my schools weight training program I'd be 190 by now. None of your numbers are impressive. Also, for an engineering student, you have the grammar of a 4 year old.
  14. This thread should be turned into a script for a golf comedy. I was busting out laughing the entire time. One time i shot a 41 on a course that was a 110 slope. I was happy too, don't get excited. I'm not a good golfer by any means, but seriously...I play on a course that has a 74.1 rating from the tips and a 72.4 from where I play. I shot a 95, that doesn't make me a 23 handicap. You really need to work on your attitude, and your squat and deadlift is bs. Any natural athlete will deadlift WAAAY more than they squat.
  15. If they are its a shame. I chose my nickents over callaway, titleist, cobra, cleveland, etc. And I've never regretted it. I'm going to be keeping my clubs for years to come(unless something bad happens). Very underrated clubs.
  16. It hasnt been 60 or even close here in forever. We play in the high forties constantly and theres never another soul on the course.
  17. I tee the ball pretty low and get a bit of a downward swing. Seems to work for me. I use a 10.5* and i get a pretty low launch angle. I get alot of roll though so i like it, my dad is the opposite. He tees it high and hits up. He drives a good 20-30 yards farther than me.
  18. I was slicing for a while, but now I'm down to a baby fade and the occasional draw. The tour-ix made slices non-existant, and i know that a ball shouldn't fix something like that, but the round before and after i used the tour-ix, i sliced. While using the ix...not a damn slice. With my irons i have a nice draw due to some offset, but driver, 3w, and hybrids all have a fade. The DT Carry actually seemed to reduce this, but i was playing random trash before that.
  19. I quite like the DT Carry. It helps my driver distance quite a bit, but it doesnt spin that much around the green. I tend to take a bump and run approach so this doesn't change that much just a tid bit of adjustment. If i could afford it I'd use the tour-ix. Best ball I've ever used hands down. It was the first ball of mine to make it a full 18 holes. I got extra distance off the tee and ridiculous spin around the greens. Once i get to a point where I only lose a ball or two a round this will be my new ball.
  20. I've found that sometimes shaft companies make shafts ONLY for a brand of clubs and not for re-sale. My nickents have true temper shafts that are the same as the dynamic gold but made only for nickent.
  21. I'm probably biased in thinking this, but i think that nickent clubs are horribly underrated. My 4DX CB are perfect. They don't have a big bulky topline, they have a SMALL amount of offset(I get a natural draw from my normal swing), and they feel great. My dad shoots about the same as you,(High 80's, low 90's) before his switch. He now has Mp-52's. He absolutely loves them and hes gone in a bit of a transition slump, but now his scores are lowering FAST. I've hit them on the range and they just feel fantastic. I also demo'd a set of mx-19's and they were pretty amazing to swing. My only problem was a thick topline which made me not get them. My uncle plays G10's which i used for about 2 weeks and they are SUPER forgiving and very easy to hit, but once again thick toplines.
  22. My girlfriend gave me a bit of crap last season becuase i was going out so much, but now shes accepted it. She knows I like to play and I'm going to be doing it as much as possible, so i try to schedule my outings around her work schedule. My dad gets the most grief. I play with him constantly and my mom gets mad at the money aspect because I'm going off to college in the fall. My grandpa is retired and he normally pays for us all. Family Foursome: Myself, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle.
  23. Can't go wrong on a vokey. I never understood what all the hype was about until i got one. I've got 2 now and I've improved my chipping ALOT.
  24. My grandpa has a rapture that I was using last season, and my dad has a mizuno MX700. I've hit them both and the rapture is much easier to hit and the mizuno has a very weird *ping* to it. My dad is also having a little bit of trouble controlling it.
  25. I bought mine at a golf expo for around $80 . I love mine. It's perfect off the tee and I only hit it off the fairway once, but it led to my first birdie ever! I use it off the tee ALOT. I place the same course quite frequently and I know where I get into trouble going long with my driver and the F-60 is just beautiful. I think the face is a little bit LESS shallow than most. My dad has a cobra speed and its a good bit more shallow than my F-60.
