  1. Genetics dictate potential. Everything else is detirmined by outside influences. Its no use being genetically gifted, but too poor\lazy\whatever to use it. You can be geneticall predisposed to golf as much as you like, but if you don't have a course, or set of clubs, or a will to practice with them you'll not be a great golfer. No need for the comments about religion.
  2. I like the analogy, although I guess it would be closer if the store was closed, but the door was open for whatever reason. Maybe like a builders merchants, where the store is actually a big yard, so can't be secured in the same way as a building. In a similar vein is it ok for me to put a 4 on my card if I got a 5, but noone saw me?
  3. I'm confused, Ireland isn't part of Asia!
  4. True, and I get what you meant. It would go both ways. You could lift like a bodybuilder, but if you don't eat like one you won't bulk. Conversely you could train to not bulk but if you eat like a bodybuilder you will bulk even if it is not muscle!
  5. Well in reality, you bulk up or don't bulk up because of a combination of everything. One specific thing, won't control this.
  6. The cardio thing makes sense. You really should have some days off though. Muscle grows and gets stronger when it is resting. Working out is actually breaking it down, and then when you rest it repairs. Fair enough wanting to be bigger, but don't damage yourself doing it.
  7. Have you heard of a rest day? That routine sounds insane! Just wondering why do you split your cardio?
  8. Good point. I was actually thinking that rule, but as I couldn't remember the wording, I cited the wrong one. I guess thats what i get for working and posting here at the same time. Back on topic I would think that being told the putter is probably illegal was something the original poster didn't see coming!
  9. Why would it matter what rule you cite? The reason I picked that one was based on the description 'bent to hell'. Obviously seeing the club would make it easier to decide which rule or rules should be taken into consideration.
  10. Not necessarily true. The Rules of Golf It depends if the damage still met these criteria, otherwise the club would have been illegal.
  11. Does anyone know if MacGregor golf are still around? It just crossed my mind that I haven't heard of them releasing anyhting for a long time, and haven't seen their stuff for sale anywhere. I checked out the website and its not updated since last summer. Have they gone
  12. Jeev Milkha Singh still plays with Ping Zing wedges in his bag, so there is obviously nothing he feels has changed that would make it worth him changing wedges.
  13. Yeah I use £50 notes for the same reason, plus you can putt over it!
  14. Good stuff! I had the original hoofer with University of Surrey logo, I need to go back to uni I think, so I can get a new one!
  15. Everyone has said hit it further, but I say brush up on your short game. That way even if you can't make a green in 2, if you make sure you can get up and down, you will be fine. If you can't reach a green don't force it, just lay up in a position you are comfortable pitching or chipping from, and then get up and down! Sounds easy when typing it, doing it is obviously a different matter!
  16. Also remember he has only just recently come back from wrist surgery. He said he felt a twinge in his wrist and didn't want to make it any worse, and said he was going to fly straight to N.Y to see his doctor.
  17. I'm sure Golfsmith ship over here, and they have this; Ping Collegiate Bag What school are you going to get? Are you going to a school in the US? You know whats even rarer? The university bags from over here. They don't sell most of them, you only get them from actually being on the team!
  18. Beat me to it. I opened the reply box, but then had some work to do before I finished my reply!
  19. Oh crap! If I had known this I wouldn't have bought a Lamborghini Diablo, the resale value will be horrible!!
  20. Without trying to insult you or be harsh, so please don't take it that way, you are basically just sticking with sports you like. American Football is pretty small in Europe, however look at the popularity of the Wembley games? The sport is clearly liked, plus there are leagues such as BCAFL and BAFL. Ice Hockey is huge, in Britain there is the Super League and National League. Not to mention how big the sport is in Scandinavia, Ex Soviet Republics and Russia, and even Germany. Baseball is huge in other places in asia besides Japan. With the exception of American Football the other 3 are easily played as much worldwide as cricket. In fact they are also Olympic sports whereas cricket is not. Also take a look at TV viewing figures. I don't know how many people watched big cricket matches, but I bet it's not as many as the Superbowl. I have nothing personally against cricket, just pointing out that you seem to be slightly biased towards it because its a game you like\play.
  21. Yeah, you pretty much said it for me. I can't really see my club when I'm swinging, and the rest of the time I am thinking about things other than how my club is looking. I guess in a sense its lucky. Just made me think also, I didn't mean to insult anyone with my image remarks, just how I fell about it personally. I do what I do, I'm not one to worry about what everyone else is doing.
  22. I play TM Tour burners. I didn't buy them because how they look, or any marketing though. I needed some new irons and these were the ones that ended up fitting me best. Going back to your car analogy, you could look at it another way. Some people buy cars because they fit the purpose they are needed for, and others buy a car because of the image they want people to have of them.
  23. I almost agreed with your post, until it got to this point, then it just started going downhill. NFL is a very American game. Baseball while not a major world game, is pretty big in Asia these days, as well as a couple of countries near the US like Cuba. Basketball is definitely not a US only game. Its actually quite popular in most of Europe, and is getting bigger in China. Ice Hockey is also very popular in Europe. Probably less popular in warmer climates because of the weather, even though it is played indoors in artificial ice. The town I live in, actually has the best Basketball and Ice Hockey teams in the UK, so the sports are definitely over here. As for your list of sports, not many people could name a single squash player, and aside from certain big names like 100m record holders not many track and field athletes. The Olympics is popular, but as a whole, the individual sports within it are not necessarily so popular. Cricket is also really a niche sport. It is very popular in a few countries, but not globally. Rugby also falls into this same category, being huge in about 10 countries, but less popular elsewhere.
  24. This doesn't really apply to the situation. In this case you owned the pool, the house, the ball and were the party that caused the damage with the ball. For the situation to be the same a 3rd party would have had to build the pool near your house, and another 3rd party would have to come along and play water polo in the pool and break your window.
  25. Not really. If it was 100% predictable you wouldn't have to worry about this kind of thing. It is assuming that the person hitting the small ball with a long stick knows it is unpredictable, and by choosing to do it accepts any outcome that happens through doing it.
