1. Both with the hole-in-one coming first, had HIO when I was a junior golfer. Had several rounds either at par or under, last under par round was 71 (-1) (72.7, 134) back in July.
2. I put 3 black dots beside both the numbers and I also use a different number for a provisional ball and make sure that you inform your partners prior to playing both the original ball and the provisional. I've played in too many tournaments where a player found his provisional ball and said it was his first ball and I know it wasn't but I didn't ask them what they were playing so couldn't verify.
3. My significant other has played in 11 states plus DC. CA, DE, FL, HI, KY, MD, MA, NC, PA, SC, VA and DC She's got a ways to go to catch me, although she didn't start playing golf until she was 40.
4. 38-38-76 Washington Golf & CC Nothing special, one birdie and a bunch of missed putts. Did not hit the ball well off the tee. Trump National tomorrow if the weather holds. :-)
5. I have one, happened when I just started playing golf, I was not quite 16 (1980). 150 yard Par 3 a little down hill, I hit it short, it bounced on the green and rolled into the hole. Was playing in a Junior Tournament at the time. Not only did i fare well in the tournament, I also ended up winning First Prize in the Golf Digest Hole-In-One Sweepstakes (Not sure they even do this anymore) and won a set of Clubs that were called PGA Emblem Irons and Woods. The irons actually had a place where you could add weights on the irons, little screws. Not sure why I ever got rid of them, guess I didn't want to cart them around, kind of dumb, should have kept them. I've witnessed 3, the last one back in June at a Member-Guest practice round.
6. New to the Forum, didn't see this on the first few pages. Favorite Course to date is the Plantation Course at Kapalua on Maui. Played it in April, 80 degrees, views are spectacular, wind wasn't too bad. Almost couldn't play as the views were so damn good. Shot a mediocre 81 but did birdie 18. No. 11 - Par 3
7. I live in No. VA and I've posted 139 rounds before I go play today. I pretty much play a minimum of 5 days a week.
8. I played in a charity scramble where if you finished under 4.5 hours, they deducted a stroke off your score. 4.5-5 hours you got zero, but over 5 hours was a penalty stroke. Worked really well, as no group played over 5 hours.
9. I don't think it is necessarily the handicap system that is at fault, I think that most people do not have any idea about ready golf. We have far too many golfers (of limited ability and even some with ability), that cannot seem to comprehend that you don't drive the cart to one ball and both sit and wait for one person to hit and then drive to the next shot and both sit and wait to hit and so on and so forth. If everyone was ready to hit when it was their turn or even when it's not your turn, play would speed up. This topic is why I'm a member at a Country Club, I spent far too many years playing 5.5 hour rounds on the weekend or having to get up at the crack of dawn to beat the slow pokes on the course. I'll pay the premium to play under 4 hours on the weekend and about 3.25 hours during the week. walking. 11. I would wear shorts all the time if the weather cooperated.
12. Lakewood Golf Course in Madison ME - 610 Yds. White/660 Yds. Blue http://www.lakewoodgolfmaine.com/ A little hokey, really just a long par 5
13. Having said that, a couple of questions. - Is the handicap as shown in your profile current .....say at least within the last 2 15-day revisions? Current (2.5) - Is it correct and "official", or some form of guess/estimate/self-calculation? Correct - How are you calculating yours? Maryland State Golf Association through my old Course Membership in MD, just moved to a different Country Club in VA but haven't changed over to VA State yet (GHIN), as my course is closed for renovations and didn't see the need to pay for a handicap when I have one currently.
14. I'm at 24 (if you include DC), helped that I was in the military and spent some time in different areas of the Country, Bucket list is definitely play the rest. Alaska will probably be one of the last ones. CA, CT, DE, FL, GA, HI, IN, IA, ME, MD, MA, NV, NH, NJ, NC, OH, PA, RI, SC, TX, VA, WV, WI and DC Canadian Provinces: Prince Edward Island New Brunswick (St. Andrews By-the-Sea is awesome) Driver: Titleist 913 D3 – Aldila RIP 60-2.9-Stiff Fairway: Titleist 906 F4 (15.5 0 ) with Tileist Graphite Design YS-6 FW+ Stiff Hybrid: Titleist 910H (17 0 ) with Project X 6.0 steel shaft Irons: Mizuno MP 14 3 thru PW with Dynamic Gold S300 steel shafts Wedges: Titleist Vokey SW (56 0 ) & LW (60 0 ) w/ Dynamic Gold S300 steel shafts, Cleveland GW (52 0 ) w/ Dynamic Gold S300 shaft Putter: Scotty Cameron Newport 2.5 – Center Shaft (Fatso 5.0 grip) Balls: Titleist Pro V1x Bag: Titleist Carry bag
15. Shot 75 at Army Navy CC-Fairfax 38-37-75 3-3 putts and a double bogey. One of these days I'll put it all together.
16. Played Army Navy CC - Fairfax - 39-39-78 Got a new putter for my b-day, haven't quite figured it out yet. 3 - 3 putts and a couple of other missed putts to save up and downs. Playing Belle Haven CC today, hopefully I'll find the putting stroke.
17. I had one of my better rounds today. Played The Elkridge Club outside Baltimore MD, shot 71 with 4 birdies and 4 bogeys. Had two putts go into the hole and pop out and 1 three putt or I would've had my best round in years/
18. I still play the MP-14's and will upgrade this year. I love the look of the 69's but the MP 4's look pretty sweet too.
