  1. No hard and fast rule. Just common sense. If my shoes are clean, I won't be making a special point to take them off in the house. Otherwise, I take them off in the entry way.
  2. Gonna be interesting how that part of it unfolds. Troy Vincent, the NFL's VP of football operations rather directly denied that. Troy Vincent: NFL did not consider giving players five minutes to warm up and continue - ProFootballTalk The NFL held a conference call for media members after midnight on Tuesday to discuss events surrounding the decision to postpone Monday night’s game between the Bills and Bengals, following the serious health...
  3. All these optimistic people with their long-term golf plans, outings and so forth and here we just broke the weather. For good this time I think 40-degree drop in four hours or something like that. It will NEVER be warm again. 😭
  4. I'm a cheapskate and much more accustomed to the grubby muni end of the spectrum. Probably 90% of my golf is at the home course. With my pass that averages out to roughly $10 per round. My top bill was $80 to play one of the nicer courses in Outer Banks when we used to take vacation down there. In my own town, one of my buddies will convince me to play his $50 per round course once and only once a year.
  5. Given the nature of the game, I think it is only practical. Constant game action and limited substitutions make unlimited sudden-death problematic. If the two teams are in a defensive frame of mind you could get a very long match, People would start having real health issues after a while.
  6. 32 degrees (0 celsius) here in Ohio, USA. Sounds like association football followed by gridiron football for me on Sunday.
  7. As a matter of fact, I played Beechwood for the first time ever with two other esteemed members @CarlSpackler and @Jeremie Boop. That's a lot of country road between there and Troy, but I enjoyed it.
  8. Hello @Max Wedge, As you can see just to the left of these words, I'm in Troy, OH and the city's municipal course, Miami Shores, is my home. Are you a member somewhere or just play all over?
  9. Sounds like the poor bastard has some serious health issues. But this is just really quirky. For safety's sake I try to not be where someone is trying to hit a very hard and fast moving golf ball. Guess you can just aim for his head if he's on the right side on the pin. Try to ricochet it off his belly for that extra soft landing.
  10. Gee. You got a whole bag of perfectly good blunt-force-trauma instruments and you resort to biting off a guy's nose? Not very hygienic either. Who knows where that nose has been? Fella didn't even cook it. Raw nose? Yuck.
  11. That sounds like a conversation that would demand a lot of drinks. Strong ones.
  12. If it is a regular golf hole and I put the ball in that hole from the tee box on my first stroke, that's good enough for me. I marked everything except the mulligan and the simulator. I can appreciate that some of you talented so-and-so's won't feel accomplished if the hole isn't x yards long. That wouldn't be a problem for me.
  13. Well hopefully the English don't take this result as badly as the Columbians did a few years ago. It is, after all, just a game.
  14. Ha. No goals yet. Park That Bus.
  15. Fair enough, but probably not the recipe for a "pummeling".
  16. Can't say I've watched much of this at all. Would it not be the strategy of the U.S. to back up the bus, as they say and play for the draw or perhaps a lucky breakaway? A "pummeling" might not be likely in such a situation.
  17. Saw something on the feed that a bunch of Wales fans had rainbow-colored hats confiscated.
  18. Thankful for that personally. Byes have me starting Gabe Davis. A nice, dry rug in Detroit sounds a lot more suitable than a few feet of ice potatoes.
  19. So it seems the home course has installed a simulator. Might be worth a try or two in snow season. This thing is called a ForeSight Golf Sports Simulator. Anyone try one of these?
  20. Coffee shot out of the nostrils on this phrase.
  21. I'll have to remember that price tag if I ever find one in the shrubbery.
  22. I remember several years ago playing a par 3 course in street shoes. Got a surprise afternoon off. For some reason, I had my clubs in the trunk but not my shoes. Playing without cleats actually went pretty well on that day. Maybe I focused more on balance than usual. Or maybe it was a coincidence.
  23. Isn't it about time? For most of the last 30 years, I've been watching the Steelers batter the NFL and my home state's Bengals and Browns in particular. Most professional sports franchise have downward cycles. It's a testament to the Rooneys and the Steeler organization that they've had as much success as they have over such a long time period. It won't surprise me at all if Pittsburgh is back to being a royal pain in the butt sooner than later. I'm going to strive to enjoy this downturn in their fortunes for as long as it exists.
  24. This is Maurice. He's a pretty damn good driver. I prefer to use the word experienced instead of used.
  25. I don't think they expect to compete with football in the U.S. Other than the running commentary on here and the occasional newspaper article, I see or hear extremely little about LIV anywhere else. I didn't even know they had an event this weekend.
