  1. Thanks man. I think the putter just followed suit. It was effortless today. Got a week off and three more 18's planned. Trust it will cement the muscle memory
  2. Thanks for the tip-changed my set up to this suggestion-shot my first sub 90. 41+46. Seemed to make the real swing real comfortable-not so many miss hits, and those got me a straight 75 yards
  3. Played 18 yesterday as a guest on an associates home course. Didn't listen to my inner voice and sand trap golf wisdom and tried hero shots on three holes. Managed to achieve three double pars Still managed 53 , 53. Last year that was 59, 61
  4. Your improvement will happen as it's gonna happen. It'll happen man-started 3 years ago for me, at 59 Took some lessons this past winter, got some decent clubs, playing once a week and practicing once a week Moved from a 70-9 hole to a 44 this past friday. First time breaking 100. For me this is a never ending learning journey. A game of chess out doors. I'm 62 and realise I'll never make the senior's tour. I'm just enjoying getting out with my wife or a friend, staying active, enjoying that approach shot to the green that land 3 feet from the hole, once or twice a round.
  5. Poon, thks for this, especially 2 a, b and c. Played a longer (for me) 18 hole muni yesterday with a business associate. Shot a front 9-44, back 9-50, first time breaking a nine hole 45 and first time breaking 100. Stopped shooting for the pin on approach shots and tried to aim for that safe place (for me) that allowed an easy chip to the putting surface. Thought about the next shot-only hit one drive ob and then half swung a 5 iron back onto the fairway rather than trying to get a 150 yard risky shot through a set of trees. Seems crazy-such simple advice but never entered my thought process.Gotta remember this thought process through every shot The most fun yesterday-Hit a tee shot on a par three-wth a greens keeper watching us tee off-hit the flag stick and birdied the hole. Thanks again
  6. Shot a 52, nine hole yesterday-with 4 miss hits. Overall felt ok. Took a forumite's suggestion and tried aiming to the next large landing area, rather than trying for shortest distance to the pin 6 of 9 fairways (and one in a rough which turned into a par) and no three puts over clubbed #1 and landed near the creek-second shot didn't clear the creek lip. Gotta remember more loft Hit a large tree on #3 as a beauty approach shot was fading into the green. Who put that tree in front of the green 100 years ago? plus two fatties. Still, a great afternoon , outdoors on a sunny day, with my wife. We are both loving the game
  7. It's not a single shot, but after taking lessons all winter, Im starting to hit greens on approach shots. Still clunking intermittingly but hitting that green from 130 yards and in, is a great feeling
  8. Last year it was the wedges, so far this this year it's been the pitching wedge. Using it like a putter 10 to 15 feet off the green.Other than that I use the clubs in 10-15 yard increments-thats all I got
  9. 4th time out this year-managed a 48 nine hole. Hoping that will improve to a 45 by year end. First month last year was in the 55's. Also using a new crock pot-way more fun coming home to a cooked meal
  10. Crap-you mean this is the wrong side-I just bought fitted clubs
  11. +1-MacGregor tourney yellow all last season. $20 for 30 at Golf town. +25 here. For me they are more consistant than using the various freebies and reconditioned boxes previously. They sure have helped my shots to the green
  12. Im 61 and been playing 3 years, Started taking a few lessons the past month. With the change in swing, I was shanking more than usual . Checked the club. I was hitting the hosel. The teaching pro got me to move back a ball width. Problem solved. Good luck
  13. Driver 9.5-11.5 5 wood 18 4 hybrid 21 5-pw 52, 56, 60 Putter That's 13
  14. I hear ya buddy. I'm a 25 so ya know where I stand but, those two or three holes kill me. Decided to take some lessons to straighten out the driver. For me staying on the short grass off the tee is paramount but at my age I gotta use the big dog Finally realised the importance of the short game and practice it. Can't wait for green grass
  15. My 2015 goals started in the offseason: 1. visit a recommended fitter-done 2. Take lessons from a recommended teaching pro-started 3. replace my irons-the pin has been pulled-saturday delivery 4. shooting a 45 9 holes (shot a 47 in 2014, down from 70 three years ago) 5. getting a 97 18 holes-still get tired and breakdown on a back nine (shot a 102 in 2014, down from a billion three years ago) 6. alternate practice /short game/putting with driving range practice
  16. Im old and don't twist well. Should stretch but don't. Decided to shorten my back swing, open my back foot a little, close my club face (all lofts) with a strong grip. That has eliminated a pile of errors coming back down. Stopped trying to hit kill the ball. Now I hit straight, most of the time. I just want to play
  17. Good on ya. I;m 60 , second year this year played my last game yesterday. Had two goals this year, break a 105 for 18 and 50 for 9, Managed two 51's yesterday playing a 9 hole double. Started last year at 140, started this year at 120 Looking to break 50 and 100 next year.
  18. Damn, happens regularly to me. I take a deep breath, help look for a ball. Most folks help each other. I play muni courses. I'm not going on tour
  19. Hello from Calgary. Got out yesterday, Beautiful, plus 17 Going again tomorrow, not so beautiful, supposed to be plus 6 Last of the city Muni's close this week. That'll be it for me
