Just posted this in another gamertag forum, but there's nothing like being redundant :) My GT is zilegati. Currently my 3 most played Live games are TW09, Left 4 Dead and Burnout Paradise.

GT - zilegati TW09, Left 4 Dead, Burnout Paradise...

I agree with Harry, although I will make the point that the 983k might be a good transitional driver to work with for a while, especially since it was a gift. A bigger and more forgiving driver is definitely better, but if the OP is used to hitting with a 3 wood, the large head size of the 460cc might be a little off-putting. To each his own.

I agree. She's a good looking girl, but she needs to get some curves on her. What is she, like 50 pounds?

Why do we talk to the ball?
jking replied to bigoak's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I hit a shot Thursday that was going to land short of the green. I said, "give me some love baby". This was with a pitching wedge, so it came in on a pretty high trajectory, but lo and behold it hit on an upslope and still managed to jump onto the green and rolled to about 3 feet from the hole. My Dad hit right after me from a similar position and hit a similar distance short of the green, but his rolled back into the rough. The only real difference in the shots is that he didn't talk to his golf ball. I think the Mythbusters would call that "Myth Confirmed". -
Just a quick FYI for those who have DirecTV, Starz/Encore has a free preview going for the weekend. I had totally forgot about it until this morning. I went through and set some recordings on my DVR, but truthfully I didn't see a lot of must see movies on the list. Worth checking out though. Oh, and I agree with others on Stranger Than Fiction. Very surprising good movie.

I'm enjoying this show as well. Does anyone know if there are any graduates of this school who have managed to go on to be successful in golf?

I agree with your disagreement. I think (hope) that in the end Jay's methods will prove his undoing and that Rob and Charlotte's calm nature will allow them to win.
-
Totally agree. I think there's no doubt that in the very least R/J doesn't like P/J (I don't think Jay likes anyone, including team R/J)... but I think at least part of the animosity is due to the fact that they think Peach and Jay are the strongest team and are intimidated by them.
-
While they had the luxury of saying giving everyone a strike was their strategy the first time, they were gunning for Peach and Jay specifically to get the strike over everyone else. This time, Peach and Jay already had a strike and they were trying to use the opportunity to take them out while they had the chance. They obviously think Peach and Jay are the team to beat, and didn't want to waste an opportunity to eliminate them. Of course their strategy backfired (again), but that's my assessment of why they did what they did on this episode.

I agree the points need to be tweaked a little bit more. They went too far the other way this season, trying to get more names into the mix. But I did enjoy last year's playoffs as well as this year's. It does give you something to look at besides the tournament of the week. Even if your favorite player isn't going to win in a given week, you can still get some enjoyment out of rooting for them to finish high enough to put themselves into position for the next week.

This reminds me of a discussion a friend and I had several years ago. I posed the question to him, "if you had the choice of winning 20 tournaments in your career vs. only 1 major and nothing else, which would you choose?" Without hesitation he said "the 1 major". I didn't agree with him at the time, and I still don't agree with him now. If you only win 1 major and nothing else to back it up, you're going to be pretty much forgotten. While the majors are obviously more important, and for good reason, I think you need some other wins to validate yourself as a solid player. 20 years from now, if nothing changes, I think history will be kinder to someone like Colin Montgomerie than to Shaun Micheel.

http://rubofthegreen.blogspot.com I thought I should probably actually update it before posting it here!!!

I got a kick out of his comment before Anthony Kim's birdie putt on 17... something like, "if he misses this one it's because he either pulled it or pushed it or left it short." I know he was making the point that AK should know the line because he'd just seen Furyk's putt, but it reminded me of one of the running jokes in my Sunday scramble match... "if we get the right speed and the right line on this putt, we have a good chance of making it."

I'm assuming you mean does someone have to join blogger in order to post comments? I don't know for sure, but if so, it's not such a bad idea. You'll find if/when you get a blog, if you allow for "anonymous" comments, you'll get a lot of spam from bots and the like who are either not real people or aren't looking to comment on your specific post. They are just looking to spam their product or website. So to require a signup process at the very least ensures the potential poster is a real person.

The Sting and Apollo 13 are my two favorites.

The only one I really have experience with is blogger.com. It's pretty easy and is becoming more customizable every day it seems. You also have the option, if you decide to buy a domain name of your own in the future, to purchase from somewhere like godaddy.com and have that name point to your blogger blog.

I've had a similar problem all season with a Sunday scramble match, me and a friend vs. our two Dads. It's a friendly match, but all of us like to win and we've been losing most of the year. My partner is kind of new to the game and the constant whispers of our Dads on the greens really get to him. It doesn't bother me for the most part, but it bothers me that it bothers him. We've tried to hint to them that they're not being very courteous, but they don't seem to get it. Of course these things tend to bother you a lot more when you're losing.

Being a lefty, I can tell you that access to equipment has increased tremendously in the past several years and I would only expect it to get better going forward. There are several tour players out there now who play left handed, and that will only help the cause. I don't think access to equipment should be that big of a deal in making your decision. As for course setups, whether they are set up for lefties or righties I don't know. I wouldn't think that would be a consious design decision, but more based on how a right handed designer might "see" a hole versus a lefty designer. I can tell you that I find myself in just as many situations where I think I am at an advantage being a left hander versus being a right hander (being able to hit a cut into a back left pin position for instance). In the end I would go with the "eye dominance" or the "whichever he's more comfortable" suggestions. In fact, who's to say if he's more comfortable as a right hander, it's not subconsciously because of his eye dominance?
-
I remember a tour player used to do this as part of his routine. I can't remember who, but I think it was one of the old timers. It's probably where Peach picked it up.

Speaking of Big Break, did anyone else notice the advert for Big Break X during the show last night? Looks like it's going to be team based this time from start to finish.
-
It didn't happen in this episode. I was referring to the episode where they had to chip in. They apparently had a rule that a missed chip had to stop rolling before they could pick up the ball and throw it back to their partner. I figured if they got that picky about that rule, they would make a rule in this challenge that teams couldn't assist each other by pulling the flag. I also thought that might be why they put the flag back in after each attempt, because it was a rule of the game.
-
Sorry, I guess I misinterpreted this statement: ;)
-
The girls are the only ones we saw do it, and just the one time. That doesn't mean no one else did it. On the same subject, I can't believe there wasn't a rule against that, seeing as how they have gone to the trouble in the series to make them have to finish out holes and make sure the attempted chip stops rolling before they can pick the ball up and those kinds of things.

I agree that Raul's handling of the situation both during and after was a little off-putting. I think after Peach missed his putt and they were obviously going to tie and have to replay the hole, I would have just let it go. But then again, I've never played for the kind of money they're playing for, so I might have done exactly the same thing as Raul. I thought it was funny that Jay was saying, "That's good to me, can I do that, are we allowed to do that, can I give them that putt?" This competition is obviously confusing everyone so much that they don't know if they're still playing by the normal rules of golf or if anything they say or do is going to cause some strange new twist in the game.
