< 8.5 degree drivers, where are they?
scooterguitar replied to BigDaddy_Sean's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I used to play an 8.5. Trying drivers yesterday with the launch monitor I was suprised. I have been hitting a 10.5, but sky high. One 8.5 got me where I needed, and one 9.5 different maker got me there. It is all different than a few years back, loft is a starting point, but each head and shaft plays a huge role in the actual launch angle and ball flight. -
How do I adjust the weight on my R7?
scooterguitar replied to gsu_paintballer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The r7 460 (I am sure on this model, not sure what you have) yes, those are adjustable. IT is a typical star wrench. They come with the wrench, but any cheap star wrench set will do fine I believe. Many cheaper drill bit screw bit sets included a few star bits. -
Can the bounce on a wedge be changed?

new wedge choices - Mizuno
scooterguitar replied to pendlebg's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yes, yes :>) Thing is, I actually like the least amount of bounce I can get. -
Yep, I remember those. Nice amp! Try some old Sylvanias or Baldwin (cheaper, but killer) 6l6 in that and it will fatten it up even more!

new wedge choices - Mizuno

Good info, thanks. Looks aside, I am thinking the R series, but would the T series possibly be more consistent as the gap ya think? I am thinking 52/53 and a 58 would get me there for wedges actually. -
new wedge choices - Mizuno

Let's bring this way back from the past! I think I am leaning towards these as well. The R is the one with the beveled or ground heal, correct? ANyone playing the T or R series these days on here? -
Another driver thread!
scooterguitar replied to scooterguitar's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I tried a bunch, set up the launch monitor thingy. The Ft-i was pretty cool, but even the 8.5*, I was hitting too high I guess. The Titelist driver was pretty darn good. When we got back to the MIzuno 560, the guy even said, "guess you were right, that's the one!". To me it just feels solid, but I was easily 30 yards longer and straight. The Ft-i (neutral) felt good and I would have tried a few more variations if it weren't for the price. I tried a 9.5, then a few 8.5's with different shafts. The SUmo2 5900 was indeed better than the last model, I was hitting it very similar to the Ft-i. The Ft-i kept edging out to the toe for some reason and the 5900 was dead straight, just short for me. So, unless I something else ctaches my eye, I'll likely snag one here soon. -
IT is time for a new driver! Just haven't been making the best out of my R7 460. I believe it will be the Mizuno 560, but am going ot hit the Callaways today. Also, going to give the SUmo 5900 a try. I had the older SUmo2 and it was just ok for my game, but am open to trying the newer one. My plan is to basically narrow it down to two today go back in a few days and make a final decsion. The $500 price tage of the FT- is scary but if it is the "one", I'll have to get it. FWIW, I'm not a big hitter and am happy with 250 down the middle.

I feel the same way about the HiBOre fw woods I have, nice and good, but not quite for me. I am on a driver hunt too! I tried the Cobras yesterday, ugh. The Mizuno F560 was great on the launch monitor! I was hitting it straight and consistently 25 yards more than my current TM r7 460. I am seriosuly considering getting one, but decided to try the FT-i and FT5 before I make my mind up. I might gve the newest Sumo a try as well.

Best golf ball....UMM???
scooterguitar replied to thedub's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
On the E5 and E6, what is the actual difference...feel or? -
MY thinking...As I certainly can't backspin the ball now, but occasionally check it, but need to learn to backspin as my changed (and better!) new swing...I am hitting past the pin and would benefit from the backspin usually. So, if a club could illegally be made to spin the heck out of the ball lots more, I am thinking it would help me literally see the affect of my practice rounds trying to achieve spin. Make sense?
-
I knwo the grooves can be redon e some, but wondering for fun if a clubmaker could regroove them (of course not for legal play) to really have big or different grooves for easier spin?

Ha too good! Yep, Bob's amps are cool for sure. I had the 18w Marshall take off for a few. I think I had over 50 killer amps come through here this past year! I'm down to about 15-17 last I checked. Now it is golf fever!

I used to be the same way years ago Josh, hated them. Now they are all I smoke, I lit up a nice Fuente Short Story the other day and was like yuck:>)

Wow, cool topic! As you can tell from my name and avatar, me is! Been a musician my whole life. Owned a boutique music store in the late 80's/early 90's, sold out to fund college right before the internet craze hit (thankfully). I play numerous instruments, but guitar and vocals are my heart. Have done it professionally since the late 80's, regional tours, etc. Now I formed a Hard Blues band to my stipulations: We only play where I want and as loud as I want (hey, I play tube amps cranked!) or I don't play. Primarily geared for the Harley crowd and biker rallies. I've done it for so long I can do this. I realized long ago I'm not gonna hit it big, though had a few shots many moons ago. So I am done with the every weekend gig making peanuts playing tunes I hate playing. Though I would like to put a 80'sHAir band together sometime in the next years!

I used to actually sell cigars on the side back in the cigar craze 10 years ago. Recently I went and bought a box of "It's a Girl" good cigars (yep, new dad!) and picked up some new ones for myself. I am now totally hooked on the ACID brand by Drew Estates. A wee bit of sweetness on the tip takes the bit out and with the infused herbs, etc they are just a great smoke. I still have a humidor full of old smokes, Partagas, Fuente, and ROmeo JUlietas (the old ones, before they changed hands many years ago). By now they will have likely fused their flavors together, but should be awesome when I break them out.

Cheaper 3 woods advice needed. Nickent?
scooterguitar replied to steve617's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'd buy used before getting something new that is really cheap personally. That is, unless you hit the really cheap new one well. Used Corvette or new Cavalier? Get the point? -
I love the NIke annoying sound personally. It is a matter of what is going to work for you.

How Much are your Balls Worth?
scooterguitar replied to iacas's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I have been on a ball hunt this year. I just made my mind up to stop messing with the $18-$20 balls. I'll use one or two and then they don't get used, so in the end I imagine it will save me $ to just use ProV's. Doesn't matter I'm not good, does matter I prefer the feel of that ball. So, I will use Bridgestone E series as backup and PRoV for 80% I think. -
I threw away a pair of old, old Nikes this spring. I have been using a very old (maybe 8 years) of Etonics that are just so comfy. But, they are looking fairly ratty of late so I decided to get a new pair. I tried and tried shoes, I so wanted one of those cool $150 pairs, but none felt good. I ended up getting about the most ugly pair of shoes Golf Galaxy had, but they were by far the most comfy to me. I think they are FJ Superlites. JUst an ugly shoe! Driving range, I love going barefoot! Seriously. I usually don't plan hitting the range ( it is a few miles from my house) so this spring I just started popping in whenever I had the urge as I was driving by and I usually wear flip flops. So I started just going barefoot and became accustomed to it. I think I would play barefoot if I could...tatoos and all!

My First Cameron off of Ebay
scooterguitar replied to DDBowdoin's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Nice, I like that one. -
Mats can do it for sure. I recently pulled my innercorpuls (?), the muscle in between the ribs. Dr. told me nothing will fix it, cna take up to 2 years to heal completely! I asked a friend who is a physical therapist to be and he gave me a bunch of stretches.Within a week it was 99% better! So now, I stretch really well before even the range. Not just a quick back ditty or two right before tee-off.

IF you aren't using them at all, I wouldn't do anything to them or than clean for storgae.

I voted for the Betti. I love them, gonna snag one sometime. The Anser, certainly a great, great putter for the $. One that really shocked me was the TaylorMade ones, those felt really nice in the store actually.
