  1. Do use caution when changing stride length. Nearly every runner's body naturally selects their perfect stride length when running. Overstriding can lead to injury. Good info elsewhere through this thread (For what it's worth, I've raced two marathons, ten half-marathons, and about 50 or 60 races between 5K and 10K).
  2. 2002 Nissan Sentra, about 30mpg City/40 Highway $4.15/gal regular here in Portland.
  3. I have about $40,000 in student loan debt at the moment.
  4. Wasn't that the place (I know it was in WA somewhere) that a guy tried to change a tire, couldn't get it off, so he shot it with a 12 gauge?
  5. Even the day after, there's still a decent sized line here in Portland.
  6. Seconded. Just replacing the shaft would most likely be a lot cheaper than trying to find a single 7 iron
  7. Some of these meltdowns are better than celebrations! I've never tossed a club, but once or twice a year, I'll spike it into the rough or something (I try not to do it on the teebox, or the fairway).
  8. ^ Great advice, not only for weight loss, but just for general health or nutrition. I'm a marathoner (as well as a golfer), and those guidelines are almost exactly what I do during training.
  9. I've got an old mason jar that I got from my great-grandma years ago for my birthday (with change in it :D)
  10. nope, Nike is in Beaverton, and UO is 2 hrs south. I go to the Univ. of Portland (one of the smallest D1 schools in the country)
  11. At my school (I don't play for them, though), they get bags, clothes, balls, etc. all free. I don't believe that clubs are a part of the deal though. It's a given that the school is sponsored by Nike though, since the world HQ is down the road 10 minutes.
  12. Well done. And even better, the son will remember your gesture and possibly "pay it forward" in the future.
  13. I've noticed that Golfsmith/Galaxy/etc all use the "national golf network." Is this less acceptable than a GHIN?
  14. Portland was pretty awful last winter. I think I got lucky and had only one or two rounds where it wasn't raining.
  15. This is mildly random, but do you know if it's true that you can insure a singer's voice? It seems possible to me, after all, violinists can insure their instrument.
  16. I've been a clarinetist for 12 years now.
  17. in OR, we can play year-round. Will it be soggy, irritating, and sometimes nasty? Yep! I played a round in the winter where it rained about 1.25" during it.
  18. Good point. What I should've said was "beautiful...so to speak"
  19. Beautiful!
  20. Really? You guys have this problem over there too? I can't STAND it. Every other thing is grounds for taking a problem to the ACLU and having a lawsuit come up.
  21. I seem to hit my long irons (3, 4) pretty much like a rocket. I haven't found the hybrid that works for me yet. If it's not broken, don't fix it, I suppose.
  22. Did you (or anyone else) ever see the story fairly recently (within probably a month or so) about the autistic child and a Catholic church. Basically it was the same story, where he was out of control, to the point of knocking down parishoners and jumping in a car and revving the engine. The family either was going to sue the church, or did sue the church because their "rights were being violated" My only qualm, given the information in the original story, was the way that it was handled over the PA system.
  23. Blazers traded for Bayliss!!!! Bayliss and B.Roy in the backcourt will be amazing!
  24. This is a tricky issue. Obviously, you have to be sensitive to the issue of the autistic child and his mom, who are paying passengers. However, you also have the safety and comfort of the other passengers and crew to be concerned with as well.
