  1. I just moved to San Antonio a couple months ago. So far I've only played at Alsatian Golf Club in Castroville, and at the Silverhorn Golf Club. They were both pretty nice courses.
  2. I just started using a forward press at setup this past week, and it improved my ball striking significantly. I was hitting everything crisp and for good, consistent distance. I feel that it is a good trigger for my back swing, and helps me create enough lag on my swing. It did start to get a little too forward in the later holes, and cost me a little consistency, but I still got myself in good positions around the green.
  3. I have yet to break a 100 as of yet, but one thing I noticed last week, is that I play a lot better once I try to be a little more conservative in my play. For example, there was a short par 4, about 300yds. In the past, I would take my driver and try to pound the ball to get as close to the green as possible. This time, I decided to tee off using a 4-iron, and it set up a nice second shot with a wedge. First time in my life I think I hit a fairway and GIR on the same hole. Had about a 16 footer for birdie that came up a bit short, but tapped-in for the par. Now, I found by making a little tweak in my setup, I am hitting consistent shots for consistent distance, that I can actually hit more fairways and have more control on the golf course over my game. I've flirted with breaking 100 in the past, and have even shot a 41 on the front 9 at one course, but then blew up on the back to finish in the 110s. But now, I feel I have the confidence and a better understanding of my game to hopefully break 100 sometime really soon. (And hopefully record my first birdie). But we will see if I can do it in a couple days when I get back out there soon.
  4. I do it on a regular basis actually. Probably going to go by myself on wednesday as well. I just moved to San Antonio, and do not know anybody, so I just head out to a local course, pay the range fee and have myself a good time. Playing alone is actually better because you won't waste any time looking for a partner's ball, and you can get done with 18 pretty quick. I miss my golf buddies from back in Indiana, but I'm not gonna let that keep me away from playing the game I love.
  5. Yeah, I've played the Taylormade Lethal, and the Titleist Prov1x, and I think the v1x was better by far. Most of the time I use Pinnacle Golds though. Seems to be a great ball for my game and cheap as well.
  6. Awesome....His form looks pretty decent as well, especially for being so young. Sounds like it was a fun day.
  7. Lol, actually at a course near me, they were working on the railroad tracks that run parallel to the par-5 9th hole. They blocked off most of the hole so they could have a place for the equipment, so they turned a 500 yd par-5 into a 65yd Par-5. lol
  8. My goals for this year. 1. Stop hitting the ball "fat" 2. Have consistent distance 3. Get used to my new putter (In retrospect I should not have gotten rid of the old one) The counter-balanced putters feel a little odd, and I constantly leave it about 6 inches short.
  9. I was about 14 years old, and my dad found me a set of golf clubs at a garage sale for $7. (Bag, driver, 3-wood, 3,5,7,9 irons and a putter. He took me to the driving range a couple times, and then to a small 9 hole course one summer and I really enjoyed actually having something that me and my dad could do together. I would usually play once or twice a year. Wasn't until I started working with a bunch of die hard golfers that I started getting really passionate about it. I will be turning 32 on April 26, and all I think about is golf. The old golf clubs Ive had are no more, and have since bought myself a complete set of Taylormade clubs. Now I got the gear, just need the game. Finally broke 100 last year, and after having lessons my confidence has gotten a lot higher. The one thing that saddens me now, is that my father is now disabled and can not play anymore. But he enjoys hearing me tell him about how I shot, the good shots, and loves hearing about my horrible shots (unfortunately thats what i talk about the most).
  10. Well tomorrow is only April 1.....and it is still a long season lol. Just make sure you hide the body well, and have an alibi.
  11. I used to get very angry when I was younger (early 20s), used to hit my club into the ground, etc. Now if I hit a really bad shot and get really frustrated about it, I will just tell my buddy to take the cart and I will walk to my ball (Cursing the entire time until I find my ball, and then cursing more when I see how horrible of a lie I have once I find it in the trees.) But thats about the extent of me getting angry now. I used to have a big anger problem growing up and actually think that golf has helped me keep things under control. Have definitely had the urge to break a club over my knee though. Luckily I have regained my composure before I did it. If I broke a club I spent good money on, I would seriously start crying like a small child.
  12. I really like Michael Breed myself. His pointers on putting is phenomenal. I did some of the things he said, (shaft lean, keeping my head down through the follow through, etc) and my putting has improved considerably. He also responds on Twitter too. He's reposted a couple of my tweets over the past year.
  13. Were you playing by yourself when it took 5 hrs and 10 min. If so that just blows my mind that you would get held up. Jeez, just let you play through. Last time I played alone, I finished 18 holes in about 1 hr 50 min.
  14. I hear that. Chicago area here. Hoping that the courses will be open on Tuesday. But on a positive note for me, I'm moving to San Antonio in 3 weeks, so no more snow for me. I feel for all you guys waiting for this winter to be over though. I'm going stir crazy here.
  15. I'm planning on walking this year too. I need to lose a lot of weight, so any exercise is good exercise. Plus, I can golf more since I won't be renting a cart all the time now.
  16. I drive a 2011 Dodge Charger
  17. I bought the Black one myself.....and that looks badass. Kinda wish I did the same thing.
  18. Thats awesome. If I get myself to a point where I can play competitively, I would love to be able to do some amateur events or qualifiers. Was very pleased with my first range session of the year the other day. Still can't hit my driver very well, but it was going straight, but not happy with the yardage (Was hitting it further with my 3 wood by about 50 yards). But my iron play and short game looked pretty decent for not having played in a few months.
  19. Well, as far as addiction goes, I know I constantly strive to do better, which is why I love it so much (Perfection is impossible) I enjoy it because it is so hard. I don't drink when I'm playing either, and I take the game very seriously. And as far as playing competively, I'm no where near being able to do that. But good luck to you in your endeavors, especially the US Open local qualifier. If I ever get there, I'm gonna try it as well. You can also look into the Golf Channel AM Tour if your looking to play more competitive golf.
  20. In that In that case, I think its acceptable. I need to find a buddy whose wife is as cool as that.
  21. Finally the weather has broke here in Indiana and I was able to get out to the driving range for the first time this spring. And after working off some dust, I must say it was a very productive outing. Got to work with every club in my bag, and even worked on my chipping. I was hitting the ball fairly crisp and it was going where I wanted it too. Definitely getting excited to get out on the course to play a full 18 soon.
  22. I've never gotten a birdie in my life yet :(
  23. That is amazing. I'm lucky to hit 1 or 2 GIRs in a round. If I hit 10 GIRs I would do a back flip, I would be so excited.
  24. They do seem to get uncomfortable, at least for me, after I get to the 14th hole or so. Definitely going to be looking for a different pair within the next couple months.
  25. Hmmm. I do own a pair of Audizero shoes. And to be honest, i also noticed some slight damage on the greens I would step on, but not nearly as much as what we just saw in the photos posted in this thread. Geez louise thats a lot of damage. I will be keeping a lookout for some new golf shoes sometime here in the beginning of the season.
