  1. I think it is about whether the course is busy. If the course is not busy, then I would not worry about it. That is a hard one to say though.
  2. I am definitely going to have to work on that. I might have to buy that book and take a look. I am in the same boat as you are. I hit my 60* about 80-90 yards. That is really why my handicap is high now. I cannot do anything inside of 100 hardly. I can say that my chipping has gotten better becasue of it. I have been looking for another book to read in general, so I might have to read this one.
  3. I am kind of a tweener from 5 to 6. I know what problems I am having and how to fix them, but sometimes that is just not enough. I still have to get some advice from someone else or a pro.
  4. I have a neutral to strong grip. I can hit a hard hook with an weak grip, so to me it is all about keeping control over the club.
  5. I will have to agree with Jay B as well. Stopping the ball on a dime is much more important than a massive amount of backspin. I used to put a lot of backspin on the ball and it is really overrated. When you are doing it though, you have to make sure that you are hitting down on the ball. If you are scooping the ball, you will not be able to make it stop that easy. You definitely have to hit down on it. Anyway, I used to play a lot of backspin and it is overrated. When using a lot, you have to make sure that on every shot you are hitting the ball long on the greens. Also if you play on faster greens, it is really hard to get the ball to stop. Once it gets moving, it is going to keep moving. I have hit a many of shots that have gone 3/4 of the way to the back of the green and I will end up chipping from the front of the green to get to the hole. I wold like to know how to just make it stop on the 75 yards and in shots though. The 2 bounces and stop on a dime is something that I have never been able to master and I would like to know if anyone has any ideas.
  6. I think that is plenty far enough. Most tour player come back about that far. You hardly even see people bring the club back to making it parallel any more. I would not suggest a John Daly or anything like that.
  7. I would not be one to ask about this, but I would definitely find someone that is not full of a sales pitch in a demo day or golf store and get them to let you try a bunch. Just make sure that they are not trying to sell you only and not help you. When I got my Mizuno's, I went to a golf store where I had been going and really liked the people there, and that worked out well for me.
  8. I will have to go with Titleist. I like the workability of the wood. I used to play Callaway and I like the overall makeup of the Titleist better and find it easier to hit.
  9. I will just throw in a different school for conversation. I am a big Clemson Tiger fan and I cannot wait to get back to football season. As for the Alabama trash talk. Season Opener!!! Need I say more.
  10. If I had to guess, it will be hard to keep Georgia and Ohio State from being at the top. I am open for debate and discussion on that one.
  11. I actually do not pull the ball much at all. When I am hitting the wedges on an easy shot, I hit the ball pretty much on a line. I do have the tendecy to pull some. I have figured out that the main reason behind all of this is that I am bring my right elbow outside on my backswing and to be able to hit the ball flush, I am coming across with the club face open. I have not idea where the slowing down of the swing idea came from. That has never been able to work for me, so I need to get the out of my head. I will have to agree with both of you. I am just needing mucho practice on the half swing. It is hard for me to force myself to stop at the half swing point when I am coming back. I think it is mental though. I think it is just because I am not coming back that far, that I am not going to even attempt to get the ball far enough. So that is where I start to mess up. That and I need to get a guide as to where I need to be stopping the back swing at. The 50 and 75% shots are always a grey area for me as to where to stop them. I am going to take both of your advice and take some more work on the half shots and get something going. I am glad that there is some people out there that I can talk to and get some good advice at to what they have tried and found to work for them.
  12. Interesting, a Clemson Tiger fan that plays Lacrosse as well.
  13. I think in 18 holes, the best I have ever had is 6. I could not tell you for certain, but that sounds about right.
  14. It would have to be the masters. It has the same tradition all the time and at the same course. I do like the rest because they change courses every year though. I am not too familiar with the PGA Championship.
  15. Right now it is putting. It used to be my ball striking, but I am working my way back to that.
  16. All I have to say is that some people pride themselves on being butt-holes.
  17. I try to get into the zone on every shot. I have really been in the zone when I was in High School. One of the last days of practice before state finals, I was playing with my coach and two other seniors. We were only playing 9 that say and I was lighting it up. I was -4 going into #9 and then doubled to really tick me off. I am not sure how I doubled and to this day I cannot figure it out. I wish I could do that again.
  18. I do not think so and that is just because August National policy. But then again, they are letting women into the Citidal now.
  19. I am going to have to go with Natalie. Paula looked really heavy at the tournament last weekend and not in the best shape. Do not get me wrong, they are both awesome, but I would have to put Natalie on top.
  20. Then I must me doing something right. I am getting it really high and it stops. I also hit everything else high, I just have to work on not casting at the ball and following through on the ball.
  21. I would have to agree with m11. I was having a problem with using too much arms and it was from my elbow though. I was bringing it outside and the only way to compensate is to come across the ball. I am working on it now and trying to get my swing back to normal.
  22. I am not much for a really heavy putter. Just not my style.
  23. A little more specifics and we could probably give you a really good answer.
  24. I would have to agree with him. If you are just starting out, then this is probably the best bet and would benefit you the most.
  25. They might be starting to flatten out and close a little. I had that problem with my lob wedge years ago and had to have it regrooved. The grooves had actually closed up and were smooth.
