Who would ever have imagined televised fishing tournaments? Just like the blues is to rockin' roll, golf may spawn a wide variety of leisure time genres.

The computer always asks me if it's a tournament round when I post. I don't know if there is any difference.

So, today I stopped by a golf course to hit some putts. There is one other guy guy on the putting green. All of sudden the guy has some kind of sneezing fit. He then continues to loudly suck snot between every putt. This continues for about five minutes. Of course, being the mentally disciplined golfer that I am, I ignored snot dude. However, I decided he needed a doze of his own lack of self awareness. I decided the only appropriate action, would be to move up wind of him and, light up a smoke and fart. I wonder if snot dude will be posting here soon.

It took me 20yrs to learn to play and sing at the same time. Probably the most dominate player ever, had the mindset that she was going to birdie every hole. Dude, you never made six birdie in one round? The OP is 18, he needs to learn, that even if you bogey the first three holes or shot 40 on the front. He can still brake par or better. I always wonder why folks equate making birdies with risky play. For the OP and a lot of players, it my well mean laying up on par-5's and par-4 tee shots. I for one make a lot more birdies from the short grass.

So are you a good guitar player? Playing the same couple courses to get a scratch cap is kind of a vanity thing. The ability to make birdies is what really makes you a good player. If you know you can rattle off 3 birdies in a row a couple bogeys don't have the same impact. The OP is 18, he should be trying to make 5-6 birdie a round. I guarantee you will be scratch if you make 6 birdies every third round.

I shoot 82 in the local. 0.9hcp. 3 fairways and 36 putts. To be fair it was my second round in six months and I thinks I hit range balls 3 times. Sounds like the OP was out of his comfort zone. I know a lot of guys 1-2hcps that never break 80 in tournaments. In the words of Bobby Jones, " there is golf and there is tournament golf, and the two have nothing to do with one and other".or something like that.
