Speaking of Pinehurst I have a round booked on #1 this weekend!

When I was doing political consulting one of my duties was talking to every day voters and asking them what they're looking for in a candidate. Of course I did most of my canvassing on the golf course. I also get to travel a lot for work so I get to play a variety of places. So if a guy comes up to you on the course and asks you about the election don't hit him, because it's probably me. :)

Should Courses have more 3.5 par holes?
danL replied to MEfree's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
My home course has a few holes that play like that. If you want to get brave and hit a driver you can leave yourself with a 60-90yd approach but the Fairway gets exponentially narrower once you get past 200yd. I typically hit a soft 3 wood or a full 3 Iron (don't currently have a 5 wood or hybrid) and leave myself with a 140yd or so approach. Much better than risking it with a driver and going off the Fairway left or in the water to the right. But, if your brave, the option is there. -
I've been in sales, played guitar professionally, taught guitar and music, dealt in high end music instruments, did political consulting and campaign consulting for the GOP, and most recently, started a car dealership with my father for a family business. I have lots of passions and always feel the need for something new in my life. :)

If you can't drive it 250 or more consistently, you shouldn't be playing from the blue tees. Pace of play is another thing to consider. At the public courses around here it's a bunch of people slicing drives less than 200yd long into the woods taking 10 or more strokes per hole that inappropriately play the blue tees.

35 front 9, 54 back 9, 89 total. Is that drastic enough? LOL 19.5 HCI

21 Handicapper - Avg. score around 98 - Avg putts per round 43!
danL replied to Stug's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I only average 5 greens or so per round but my biggest problem that led to 3 putts was distance control. Since I've gotten my distance under control the 3 putts are far less common. Even if I read the break wrong and end up a foot left of the hole, I'm still only a foot away for a tap in because my distance was right. -
I'm a Berger fan but as someone else said, being good isn't good enough for Augusta. If we loosen the criteria for invitations then it won't be the Masters anymore. A true master of anything will acquire enough wins to make the field legitimately.

Wasn't he only leading by one stroke last year? As someone else said, even par will probably win it for him at this point.

Sure am glad I picked Spieth :)

Previous winners don't take anyone's spot.

Was nicklaus not more than 4 strokes behind on the first day of the 86 masters? Edit: I see its proven wrong already sorry.

I can't find it on any of my TV listings. I'm hoping it's covered by CBS or ESPN because I don't get the golf channel.

Wearing Golf Shoes to the Driving Range
danL replied to JAYDEE3's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Some people just like to dress nice no matter where they go. Do you laugh at the guys walking down the street in a nice suit? Also wouldn't hurt the confidence aspect of your game. -
Is or should there be artificial turf golf courses? (re: California drought)
danL replied to rkim291968's topic in Golf Talk
I refuse to use mats so a fake turf course would be a no for me. -
There's plenty of attractive women ready to leech onto a wealthy man and pretend to love him. In other words, Amanda is a dime a dozen, hopefully he is wiser next time around. Reminds me of a joke my uncle told me. If you ever think about getting married, just find a woman that you hate and buy her a house. LOL

I majored in legal philosophy in college and this is very reminiscent of my logic classes. When people commit one of these I know that it's better to point out their fault and abandon any hope of having a rational debate with them.

I just got a bombtech grenade 3 wood and I love it. Very easy to hit and much longer than my last one.

Thanks again. I'll try to hit the range when it's less crowded so I can use the lane in front of me to film head on. Thanks for the tips I'll get working on practicing them in the mean time.

I see what you mean now about my elbow. Thanks for fixing and combining my threads and the video. I'll post again in another few weeks. If I'm understanding this right, this problem of my elbow tucking behind my shirt seam is caused by my elbows being too far apart on the back/down swing? Thanks.

My typical ball flight starts slightly left of the target and fades back, especially with longer clubs not so much with short irons. I've gotten the fade under control and I can account for it but I'd like to be able to get them straight so I don't lose as much distance. Forgot to include this in original post sorry.

I've been working on my swing since my last video post. I've started straightening my back (right) leg on the back swing which does help but I think I've been rotating my hips too quickly because now I slightly top it more often than I chunk it and hit behind the ball. On my good shots the divot starts where the ball was, I'm hitting the ball first usually but hitting the ground too soon afterwards. I took 4 videos at the range, one for short irons, mid irons, long irons, and a 3 wood, but it was packed with golfers and I couldn't get very good camera angles so I apologize for that. I also am having to post this on my phone so I don't know how to embed the video so if a mod could help me with that I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys, this frustrating game is getting less frustrating everyday since I've been frequenting this forum.
