  1. FWIW, I bought the Machspeed for my son, and we both think they are a great club for the money. Very forgiving.
  2. Thanks for the replies guys. Interesting. I only have a pull cart for the occasional times I play a par 3 course. Otherwise, I ride. With bad knees and after 3 knee surgeries ( and probably more in the future), I find it more enjoyable for me to ride. Although I do think it's easier to concentrate on the game while walking.
  3. Forgot to mention, that I'm looking at getting graphite irons. With having both shoulders operated on, my clubhead speed is only in the high 70's. Would this mean that I should look at the Razr X over the NG's?
  4. I've never used a Push type cart, but I don't know what the big deal is. Pulling a bag/cart just seems natural to me, but as I've said, I've never used a Push one. Is it better? Just seems more expensive to me. What are yall's (I know, I'm southern) experience with them?
  5. If you were buying a new set, would you buy the Razr X or the Razr X NG? Just wondering.
  6. Makes sense to me, and I'm a right hander. Thanks
  7. I have had both of my shoulders worked on, both for rotater cuff, and one for a biceps rupture. Strangely, playing golf didn't really bother me playing, just was sore afterwards. Doing everyday activities bothered me more. Now, I have good range of movement, but there not the same. I need to be strengthening them regularly, which I am lax to do. But, playing golf is not a problem, except that my swing speed is not very good. Thinking about going to graphite soon. Good luck to you.
  8. Agree, subtle is nice.
  9. yellowboy, like your avatar. I had a yellow lab, until he got old with cancer, and had to put him down. Name was Max. Best dog I've ever had!
  10. this reminds me of a question I had recently. I was playing with a guy that would hit a distance ball off the tee, then for the 2nd or 3rd shot, would change balls to a softer ball. I told him he should play the same ball throughtout the hole. What do you guys say?
  11. For someone who just plays "found" balls, you should be fine. lol
  12. hope you recover well, and are on the golf course in no time.
  13. OK, another newby question. Do you guys get ALL your clubs adjusted, or just the irons?
  14. Thanks for the replies guys. WUTiger, I did just hit several clubs at Golfsmith recently, but haven't made up my mind what to go with yet. I hit the Razr X graphite best of all, but others were OK too. I've found Razr X graphite, 5-PW for under $350, and also Nike VRS X in steel, 4-PW, AW for less than $300. These seemed like good deals to me, especially if I could get them adjusted later if needed.
  15. Does the "NG" on the Callaway X HOT NG clubs mean "new grooves"? If so, is this preferable to the regular X HOT ? Being new to golf clubs, it's confusing at times what all the letters/symbols mean. Thanks
  16. I'm completely ignorant about fitting, as I've just used old "hand me downs" iron clubs in the past. I'm just wondering, if I get a standard stock set of clubs, can they be adjusted for lie angle afterward? I see the "notches" in Ping clubs that look like allow for easier bending, but don't see that in other clubs. Can ALL iron sets be bent? I have seen better buys on sets online, even when considering what it would cost to adjust them, than buying from a Pro shop. Also, since just getting into golf, am considering buying a set that is not the current yrs model, maybe one from a couple yrs back, thereby saving money. So, will I be able to get the stock set bent?
  17. I always think it looks stupid when I see guys do that with their caps. It would drive me nuts.
  18. No? I just thought maybe the X club was more of a "game improvement" club. Not sure.
  19. Good thread mvmac. Thanks for posting it.
  20. Looked at these the other day, and also the Covert 2.0 What does the X mean in the VRS X? Is it more of a GI club, or does it have something to do with the shaft? Or none of these? Just got me wondering, and I can't find anything about it.
  21. Congrats! I'm longing for the day I can do that.
  22. Carry? What's that? lol
  23. Looking for a neat place, possibly an old type of Inn, to stay in Savannah. Wont be playing any golf this trip, and also would prefer not to stay in a "chain" hotel. Any of you guys have any experience/knowledge in the area? Would like to stay in the historic downtown if possible.
  24. I've never had a fitting, but am looking at getting a new set of clubs, and would like to be fitted. My question is, can a shop fit a set that I bought off the internet, or does that have to be done at the factory. I've seen the "notch" in Ping Irons, that I assume is for bending to set the lie, but most clubs don't have that notch. Can a cast club be bent to adjust the lie? May be a dumb question, but I was wondering. I've seen a lot lower prices on the internet than at my golf shops. Also, if I'm within an inch of the "standard" length of clubs, should I have the length adjusted also? I've heard both yes and no. Any thoughts?
