  1. I do pretty good to about 130 yds. I can hit the green half the time or so. Now, the course I play at does have fairly large greens, and I'm not saying I leave good birdie opportunities, just that it's on the green. Rarely is it within 20 ft. Past that, and I'm hitting the green much less than half of the time. I've never put a pen to it, but I'm guessing 30% or so.
  2. A pastry huh? Is that what we're calling it?
  3. I've changed a few things in my swing since back when I was slicing everything. - Weight forward - Choke up 1" or more - Stop trying to kill it. I realized I had a huge chunk of titanium on a 4 foot stick. Don't have to swing as hard as I can.
  4. BrownCoast, don't rule out used golf balls. Most times you can get what you want at a fraction of the new cost. I've never ordered from this site, but they appear to have very reasonable prices. Those b6 balls you were talking about are under $7 per dozen. http://www.golfballsdirect.com/category_s/200.htm
  5. I just don't like hazards that are unseen from the teebox but come into play with an otherwise good shot. I don't want to hit it 250 yds in the middle of the fairway and be in a freakin bunker or water. That's just silly to me. Make it tough. Put a lake down one side, but don't put stuff in the middle of the fairway.
  6. My dislike for Bubba doesn't stem from his outbursts of emotion or swearing. Hell, I'm a Tiger fan so I certainly couldn't fault anyone for that, as he does it more than anyone. The thing I can't stand is him blaming his poor play on conditions, which every golfer in the field has to play in. So you can't play with water on your clubface? Okay, that means you're not as good as most of the other, because they didn't seem to have many issues with it. Also, any time someone hits a poor shot and blames their caddie for it is just silly. Even Tiger doesn't turn to his caddie and bitch about yardage or him telling him to hit the wrong club. BTW, I know Tiger isn't blameless in the caddie department. He did his wrong by the way he let him go. I'm just saying he doesn't blame his caddie for his on the course woes.
  7. Funny bit, and good response by the PGA. I'm sure Fallon loved it too.
  8. I voted 6. Averaging a major win per year would be pretty impressive.
  9. The gut wrenching part is reading the tweets by his teenage daughter about loving and missing her dad. You'd like to think that no matter how bad things got that you wouldn't take your own life, especially when you have children that it will effect directly. But then again, I don't have issues with clinical depression so I don't know where he was mentally and emotionally. This goes to show that the wealthy are not immune to mental disorders any more than any of the rest of us. He was a cool guy, and the world is worse off without him.
  10. I don't think Phil was mad because they teed off. Rickie said they knew they were going to tee off but they didn't know they were going to hit their second shots. I think they were just surprised at the approaches, that's all. Don't believe everything you hear the media report.

I've seen him commiserate with his caddy and grumble in general, but griping in the direction of the one guy dedicated to your game, the one guy that's on your side, is NOT the same as chewing them out. Here ya go. He clearly blames the caddie for telling him to use the wrong club......twice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUA9g9HfRPg Quote: I'm sure the caddie is making plenty of money off of Bubba's top 20 performances. That's not an excuse to be treated like crap. Every other successful golfer has a caddie that makes good money too.
  12. Quote: Most up and down round of golf you've played? Every time I play, I'm trying to get up and down on nearly every damn hole.
  13. I played in a foursome that took 2nd place with -14 but the prize was just a $50 gift certificate. Still beats nothing. Quote: as an enthusiastic cook, my very favorite, a commercial grade KitchenAid mixer. I love to cook too and would be excited about that as well. You can put dozens of different attachments on those things and use it for countless purposes.
  14. Respect my ass. How respectful is it to expect someone to pick up your tab. I wouldn't have paid it. You can't pay, don't play. I'm a full time student and have a hard enough time paying my own fees. And this after the round business wouldn't have flown. You don't know everyone in the match's financial situation and believe it or not, $20 is not an insignificant sum for some people. As a student with a family, there have been Saturdays I wanted to play and didn't need to spend the money that week, and I play for $16.50 (resident rate). I'd have refused to pay and if they'd had a problem with it they would have a gotten and vulgar two word comment with the last word being "you". Now that being said it would have been different if it had been known up front. Then you could decide whether or not you were willing to do it.
  15. That's funny. I was watching the end with the wife and commented on how much I hated the new ones. I'm not that fond of the old ones but the new ones, uugghhh. I do love the fact that he wears orange on sundays. It's my high school colors and I won't play without orange tees. :)
  16. Regarding the clothes he wears, if Puma offered to pay you millions of dollars to wear them, you'd wear them. Shit, I'd play golf in my underwear clucking like a chicken if they paid me the big bucks.
  17. There was a hole in one on a par 4 on the tour when it hit off a competitor's putter and went in. It counted. Here is video of it. It's #3 in this top 10 lucky bounces list.
  18. Shot an 89 at a links style course that I'd never played before. 46/43 Nothing over bogey on the back. I had 2 penalty shots on the front which led to triple bogeys. Hit it fair, but putted better than my usual self.
  19. I think they're just talking about the fact that it took Phil a little while to win a major, then once he did he won a few of them. I agree that Rickie will win a few before its said and done.
  20. While I'm in the U.S. and will of course root for the home team in the Ryder Cup (not that it's going to do us much good this year) I certainly like several of the European players. There are Euros that I would pull for over several Americans on Tour. I don't pick who I like based on where they're from. There are great guys and jerks from every country on Earth.
  21. And it's also a forum where if someone said, "Charles Manson was a prick," I actually think there would be people coming to his defense saying that we don't know his situation or that we should give him the benefit of the doubt. There are both kinds here. And that's okay. If we all thought the same things and had the same opinions there wouldn't be any need to ever log on. You are absolutely correct at the end of your post. And most things stay respectful here. I've seen a lot of disagreement but not very much hostility.
  22. I voted yes, but Spyder is correct. They managed to shoot some pretty damn good scores the way it was. Bottom line for me, the rules were the same for everyone, so no need to whine about it.
  23. You could say "If Sergio had............." about every major he's EVER played in. When he coughs up whatever he's choking on and wins one, then he'll deserve to be in this conversation. He's playing good golf at the moment, but he's not in the same class as Rory. Not right now anyway.
  24. Definitely not. He is obviously a very talented golfer. You don't even make the tour otherwise, let alone win two majors.
  25. I'm a high handicapper so obviously I'm not that knowledgeable about the mechanics of the golf swing. However, I have a question for those of you who are. Is it possible that Tiger's physique is partly to blame for his injuries? When he was a slim guy he didn't seem to have these problems. Now he looks like a strong safety with a lot of extra muscle he's tweaking everything it seems. I realize that his body is older than it was then so I'm sure that is partly to blame, but I was wondering if he's just maybe too bulky.
