  1. Absolutely! Most of my rounds lately have been me struggling off the tee and not striking the ball well but playing great around the greens and putting much, much better. I've gone from avg'ing 3-4 3 putts per 18 to one if I'm unlucky, and actually making some putts outside of 2 feet. My scores have been pretty consistent because of it so I go home happy!
  2. Give the kid a break! Maybe he misunderstands a few things, no need to jump all over him / call him a liar / claim it could never happen.
  3. I've come close to being hit a couple of times. One time we were on a par 5 green and the guys behind us hit from about 260. He said he just smoked a 3W which somehow ended up rolling on the green and ended right at my feet. He came up apologized and we congraulated him! Other time I'm walking to the next tee box from a par 3, and the group behind us hits, and their shot lands not 3 feet to the right of me, pings the cart path and bounces sky high, then comes down 2 feet to my left. Needless to say I was in the fetal position!
  4. If you miss all those GIR's in order to play bogey golf your short game has to be completely on point though....
  5. No disrespect meant, but f*** that noise. That's extremely narrow-minded and irrational. If you don't see how on some holes or courses it benefits you more to sacrifice distance for accuracy then maybe you need to do some reading on course management. And to call someone a hacker and not a golfer because they struggle with the driver? Really? I agree for the amatuer that 7I, 7I, PW rarely works because as you said, what's the chance you'll hit 3 good shots in a row. I hear ya there. But there's nothing wrong with 200 or 180 off the tee on a par 5 or a short par 4.
  6. Sad panda :(
  7. Fair enough I see your point Elvis. To me personally, I know I'm not at any type of skill level where my score even matters. I'm just looking to hit good shots and keep my putts down. To each their own.
  8. Good luck! I've been thinking about lessons too, not sure if they're gonna be worth the money though for me.
  9. I'm sorry, but how do you not understand that? If a person is trying to break 100 or shooting worse, even trying to break 90, what does one stroke mean? There's no point playing off a root or near a tree if you're gonna damage a club in a round that you'll end up shooting 104 or 110 or 115. That said, if you're at a point where you're in single digit or low teen handicap, then by all means follow the rules, because at that level of play you're not duffing every other shot and 3 putting every other green.
  10. I'll play until there's standing water on greens normally. I kind of enjoy light rains in the summer, very refreshing.
  11. Definitely go in and talk to the manager who's going to be hiring you. He'll probably tell you to do the online app anyway when you come in, so I'd do it first, then go in and talk to him, just so he can put a face to the application and get to know you and your personality a little bit.
  12. I put in 5 rounds at my course in some handicap tool I found online and it came out as 26.4. They were 100, 101,102,101, and 97. Too small of a sample size? Just getting to learn the handicap system.
  13. Been to a course or two that's done that, definitely not the norm but it can happen.
  14. 1. Break 100 multiple times throughout the season. 2. Limit my 3-putts to one or two max per round. 3. Improve my ball-striking from the fairwary with all clubs. 4. Develop my driver into a reliable club off the tee.
  15. Normally on most courses I've playing on, blue means 200 yards, white 150, and red 100 or 75, depending on the course. And that's yards remaining to the pin / hole.
