I'm an idiot, of all the things I have researched for golf, that's is something I have never looked at and just assumed I was correct. Thank you, -
Grip Strength - Opposites and Compensations Video
GregZ replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Okay, I just realized from your video that I have misinterpreted what it means to have a stronger or weaker grip. I always thought that rotating my hands more to the left or counterclockwise for a righty was stronger. -
TheSandTrap Socal Golfers - Spring 2013 Outing - Discussion
GregZ replied to Beachcomber's topic in Member Outings & Meetups
Hope you all had fun. I wish I would have played with you all since I'm only 45 minutes away this weekend but my schedule just didn't allow. I did tee off this morning at Desert Spring Valley course in Palm Desert for a quick 18 (3 hour round) and thought about you guys having an awesome time. -

I'll be in Palm Springs on the 7th and would be interested in attending the AimPoint clinic if my scheduler (wife) doesnt have me signed up for somthing else that afternoon. Greg -
A Statement with which I Most Disagree
GregZ replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
You have to be an elite athlete to swing a golf club efficiently. -
Is this what you are looking for? http://thesandtrap.com/t/53724/the-ps-positions-or-as-alignments-in-the-golf-swing I find it helpful when reviewing my swing.

My goal this year is to continue researching the golf swing to find consistency. Ill have an awesome round one day followed by not breaking 110 for the next month.

I voted No, but have no idea why.

Last winter I signed up with evolvr and had immediate success but ran out of time to truely work on the things that I needed to and stopped evolvr after a couple months. I thought the information was great for the money and came away from each video lesson with an understanding of what I needed to do. My problems were, and still are, over reasearching all the little pieces I see wrong in my swing and wanting to fix them all at the same time. I also could see the value in having a Pro watch me swing so I sought out some one locally for that. After some research I found a guy here locally that new the ball flight laws, the alignments, and that i needed to work on just 1 thing at a time. Eventhough he has helped a lot, i cant afford to see him all that often so I am on my way back to Evolvr here soon so work on prioriting my flaws.

To Play or not to Play when learning a new swing?
GregZ replied to VegasRenegade's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Voted YES, Get out there on a non busy day, i would pick very early morning, and play some golf doing the things that you are learning to improve. If I dont play and only focus on full swing, my putting and chipping goes to shit. -
I normally play by myself. I am all of those types of players depending on the course, the time i have to play, the group behind me and how i feel that day. One thing I hate is having ppl wait on me so I am efficient if needed and will maintain a good distance between me and the group behind, but I will stretch out a round as long as I can. When I play every round is a practice round for my enjoyment of golf and to learn from it.

Would working on not letting the right heel off the ground, but instead banking the right foot toward the target have an effect to get the path more in to out?

Helping an old friend lose some weight through golf
GregZ replied to Bullitt5339's topic in Golf Talk
Thats awesome of you to help keep him motivated. That makes me think of when i first made the choice to lose weight and to start walking the golf course. I thought pulling a cart for 9th holes was going to be the death of me. -
After trying several used Hybrids I have finally just found a Hybrid that I can hit and take a good divot and hit out of the rough. 19.5* Wilson Staff Fybrid RS. It seems to fit between my 23* 4 iron and 15* 3 wood just fine. Im not planning to pick up another at the moment.

new golfer!! Whats the best advice to improve?
GregZ replied to looseleftie's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Ive only been able to break 100 consistently in the past year and the things that have been the biggest help for me are: -Buying a high speed camera with fast memory and a tripod. Watching your swing is not the same as feeling it. -Work on one thing at a time and find help prioritizing what needs changed first. This is where an instructor or Evolvr comes in handy. -Spend as much time on a putting green as you do on the range. -Pay attention to your game and keep notes during so you know what your week points are. -Try to play when no one else is on the course so you can play multiple balls from all over the course. -
Order placed just a little while ago. Im looking forward to trying it out with my new Tour Striker.

I own the VR28 Black Iridium Polarized and the G30 lenses. To me the VR28 is a great all around lense for everthing including golf. It is a little dark to me on cloudy days and dusk, but perfect for bright sunny days and I look awesome wearing them. Ive only had the G30 lense for 2 weeks and from what I can tell its basically the same as the VR28 except lighter. I can wear the G30 lense indoors, cloudy conditions, and dusk and not have to worry about it being too dark. In sunny bright conditions i miss the VR28 lense a little. As far as golf, i feel that the G30 is the better lense, but the VR28s are awesome too. Also, I love how crisp everything looks out of my Oakleys, they put my regular specs to shame. Good luck on your decision. Greg
