2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay Discussion Thread

This has got to be the absolute worst golf coverage ever. Fox sucks. -
I watched a movie today on Amazon that was rated 5 stars. I would absolutely give it 5 stars and it would easily be an eagle. It star Kevin Bacon but was a real emotional ride. It was called Taking Chance Another really good movie is The Mighty a birdy for sure.

I found a local shop that has a Flightscope and spent time hitting with my clubs and getting my shot zones mapped. Wow what an eye opener it was. Needless to say I will be looking at club choice and aiming a bit differently from now on. I am consistently hitting left and short. I made myself a laminated tag for my bag with average distances and ranges to help in club choice. Now on with the reading.

After reading the chapter on shot zones, I started wondering how I can go about getting this done. I asked the pro at the course where I joined the men's club if they had a place where I could hit a bunch of balls and he said go ahead in the lessons area (a huge fairway like area). So I have a place but not sure just how to go about it as far as measuring it all out. It sure seems like maybe finding a place with a flight scope might be a lot easier. I am open to any suggestions.

I have found that I drop regularly then will be up a pound or two but even when the scale shows increase, the measurements show I am continuing down. I hope to hit my 40# down make this coming Friday. Diet and exercise are the keys for me.

Same here. Backing in seems much more natural than trying to consciously transfer my weight to my left foot. It seems artificial to try and bump to the left but this makes it easier.

Thanks Hardballs I liked it as well

Congrats guys.

No to clarify, I do not try or intend to take a practice divot. What I do try to do and seem to have a hard time at is just brushing the grass or bumping the dirt with the sole of the club. I have a hard time taking a divot period unless I have hit it fat.

Breaking Bad Club - A Thread for Golfers Trying to Break 100

I will give that a try tomorrow. My league starts tomorrow and this seems like a good way to keep positive. -
I watched Species II yesterday. Total triple bogey. Just goes to show that bad writing can turn even acceptable actors into bad ones.

The tracking info online said I should expect my book to get here next Friday the 27th. It actually arrived today so I am about to get on with reading. Thanks @iacas .

I wipe my club heads down after every hit but still do a better cleaning at home after each game to get the leftover mud and sand from the cavity side of them. I just give them a quick dunk in a bucket of water with a couple drops of Dawn detergent, hit them with the brush then rinse, dry and back in the bag they go. I hate starting a new round with leftover mud from the last round. I guess I just consider it a small maintenance task. I clean my pushcart regularly too.

The new iPads rock. I have my old 1st generation iPad still but it is only good for videos these days. The iOS stopped at version 5.xx something.

please explain grip sizing to me
drifterdon replied to FireDragon76's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I don't have a problem with hooking it. I just consistently hit left. I am working on my aiming but straight and to the left is where I always end up. I just wondered if maybe trying standard grips would have any affect on this or do I just need to drill more on aiming correctly. -

I watched a show that had John Daly discussing his swing once on the Golf channel Academy and he said that he uses oversize grips because it keeps him from hitting the ball to the left of where he is aiming. Has anyone ever heard of grip size making a difference in where the ball goes? I'm sure the wrong grip size makes a big difference but does anyone else use it to change the direction on purpose? I have small hands and am measured for a -1/32 grip and always wondered if I could get by with a standard grip since there is a huge selection to be had in standard size.
