Quote: Hi Matt. Yep, I'm a member of both Blankney and Pottergate. Give me a shout if you want a game any time, I'm at one or the other most days :) Wow, it sure can seem a small world sometimes! It's a lovely set-up at Blankney, I had a few lessons with Graham towards the end of last year............probably should have persevered but I'm now enrolled online with evolvr which has really helped, plus all the great guys on here! Really appreciate the game invite and hopefully I will be able to join you one day but my game is nowhere near good enough for Blankney yet, I have only managed under 100 once at Welton since I started last September so it's certainly work in progress! I will keep an eye on your progress and may have to pop down to have a chipping practice session with you! Regards, Matt

I agree with @Patch that practice is a must, getting used to the speed of the greens you play and also fine tuning your putting stroke http://thesandtrap.com/t/74295/putting-do-not-accelerate-through-the-ball will help. Good luck

Hi Pete, loving reading your thread! Is the course above Blankney Golf course as I live in Lincoln and it looks very similar?! Regards, Matt

Just watching the DCP re-run on Sky here in the UK. Looks a fantastic way to introduce more kids to Golf.

Same over here as well! I played just after the greens were treated and it was really hard to judge the pace with all the sand on them!

Not sure if this will be a rhetorical question but could lack of flexibility, especially in my hip flexor region, be a cause of my upper body still lifting in the backswing? I'm still finding it tough to maintain my spine angle, it seems to begin once the club gets close to A3. It's fine during a slow practice swing but not when any resistance is introduced. Any help appreciated, thanks.

Ditto! I noticed the putting green that Rory's parents built for him in their back garden to practice on. That's gotta be a great way of not having to cut the grass and improve your game!

The BBC are going Masters mad......like we all are. Have a look at the following link, it's their take on "what makes the perfect swing", quite a good watch. http://www.bbc.co.uk/guides/z3yw7ty

Can't argue with that! 1½ hours for 18 is awesome by the way..............you must hit it miles!?
-
It will be great when I can "leave them in the dust with a few good shots!" It's only the second time that I have ever played on my own but it was a refreshing change, it was me versus the course and nobody else. Obviously the course won but sometimes it's nice to just get away from it all and enjoy the peace and quiet! 89 is certainly not terrible especially if the weather was challenging!

Being a high handicapper with little to no distance off the tee, 18 holes takes me about 2¾ hours. I played on my own recently and to be honest it was a nightmare. Groups kept waving me through even though I was happy to play at my own pace, especially as I'm learning my craft. Thankfully the shots I had to play whilst they waited for me to pass went ok and were not the usual duffers, when you can then see them looking at each other and thinking.....why the hell did we let this idiot through!?

Here are my latest videos sent trough to Stephan at evolvr. I'm working on maintaining a centered pivot, head position during the backswing and a less cupped left wrist at the top of the backswing. I'm really pleased with my improved head position but there is still loads of work to do with my left wrist. It's the area I'm targeting during my 5 mins per day April challenge!

I think if he makes the cut he will be on the coattails of the leaders but it's anybody's guess which Tiger rocks up on Thursday. I'm going to say he contends just because it's Tiger and anything is possible, even after a bad trot!
-
Me too! Whether or not you you like his personality, he is great to watch.......box office. I imagine Rory will be quite happy as it will take some of the focus away from him.

I'm guilty of this......just bought a glove which has rigid plastic in the front to help my cupped wrist for £17. I could have just put a few bank cards inside my existing glove for nothing! I don't normally wear a glove so it's not as if I can justify the purchase as a spare? I think you may have opened a can of worms..............my purchases so far; Swingyde - Cost £5 can't get on with it! Inside approach golf trainer £18...........could have used a cardboard box! Weight for golf club £2 - A pro told me to try one.....never opened it! Conclusion.....no substitute for; http://thesandtrap.com/t/54840/simple-specific-slow-short-and-success-the-five-s-s-of-great-practice

Get Better Now! April 2015 Practice Challenge Thread

I'm predicting a lot more grief from the wife.........I broke a light fitting in the kitchen after my last practice session! -
Cheers for the advice @Lihu I will slow things down even more! I'm booking a 1 or 2 hour lesson with James in the next 2 weeks so hopefully that will help. Evolvr lessons are amazing but I'm the type of person who also needs to be coached in person, so that I can replicate the right things to do in my swing. Thanks again!
-
Strange thing is.....they don't for me? I can get a flat wrist in front of a mirror but at the range the cupped wrist returns! I'm doing a slow measured backswing which looks great but the swing to hit the ball has a cupped wrist...........really annoying!
-
Thanks @Lihu , I'm currently experiencing the "feel is not real" with my practice and it certainly will take time. I don't know what I would do without a camera to prove me wrong every time!? I've ordered a glove with a bit of plastic in to try and keep my wrist flat. It's probably a gimmick but worth a try......at least I hope.

I think the open clubface has been the root cause of my many swing faults that have developed. I do recall having a good weight transfer when I first started playing but over time a slice crept into my game which stopped me playing. It seems my current over the top has stemmed from my lack of confidence in clubface position and subsequently effected my weight transfer........almost scared of slicing, if that makes sense?
-
I'm working on getting my left wrist less cupped at the top of the backswing but it's proving really difficult. My grip is neutral and I have a slight cup at address. Is it just a case of persevering and it will eventually happen? Stephan has got me to use a folder to practice the feeling of keeping the left arm in contact throughout the backswing. The problem seems to be that my left wrist naturally wants to dorsiflex. Any advice gratefully received, thanks.

Really good practice routine @boogielicious I like it so much that I'm going to try it at the range later!

Afraid to say that I was once a volcano! My clubs would often fly further than my shots with a few expletives thrown in for good measure.....I was a complete ass! Thankfully I matured and also realised that I had no divine right to be good at Golf. I now have a rye smile when other people lose it.........my inner chimp is now under control.
