Nike Sumo2 Squared/Callaway BB 460/Cobra Speed F
og512 replied to C-Rope1's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I don't really care for the Big Bertha and I haven't hit the Sumo Squared. but the Cobra F-Speed is an awesome club. I demo'd one a couple weeks and I love it. It's long and accurate. If you don't mind the sound it makes (like an aluminum bat hitting a flag pole), then I would go with it. Good luck. -

I've been wanting to upgrade my irons but my funds are limited. I am looking for a set of game improvement irons. I have noticed that there are knockoff/clones of a lot the popular brands (Slingshot OSS, TM R7, Sumo, Big Berthas, etc...) Would going with a clone set be a good choice until I am ready to step up to a players iron or blade? Are there any drawbacks to these clones/knockoffs?

The Lucky 13 is 13* loft. Last time I was on a machine I think my swing speed was 99-101mph and my ball speed was approx 140

I am currently using a Nike SQ SUMO Lucky 13. The shaft is the stock shaft, Sasquatch Diamana/ Mitsubishi Rayon, Regular Flex Ball flight is no longer a issue and as I have gotten better, I am getting too much height on my drives. I don't have money to just go buy a new driver and I have been totally unsuccessful in selling this one. So my question is, can I buy a different shaft to counteract the extreme ball height on drives?

indoor driving ranges in chicago area
og512 replied to doublesuited77's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
I went to the one in Des Plaines, the Golf Center last winter. Outdoors with heated tee boxes. But you still have to dress warmly. I used lightweight layered clothing to stay warm with out affecting my swing. Not much wind that day so it wasn't too bad. There's a couple indoor places but they usually no more than 100yds so you don't get true ball flight. If the wind is low, the outdoor range in Des Plaines, The Golf Center, is the way to go. -
good question. i was curious about this too

Is my glove wear a sign of a swing flaw
og512 replied to oreodawg1's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
From what I've heard it may be a sign of gripping to hard but glover wear is also an indicator of where your pressure points in your hands when you grip the club. -
C) Hit a 9-iron or pitching wedge and leave about 100-110 yards and a pitching or gap wedge to the green... I say this because I tend to hit my irons longer than I should and I don't want to end up hitting it into the water. Also, my wedge game needs work so I would take any opportunity to use it and get better. Plus it seems to be the safest way to stay away from the water.

During the spring and fall I like to get out the afternoon when the weather in good. In summer, I like to get out early in the morning before 9am. before sun gets up high and hot.

What is the trade in on XLS hybrid/3 wood?
og512 replied to King Cobra II's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Best case scenario, you'll get half what you paid. But more than likely it'll be less than half. Try Ebay or the marketplace on here -
I am a fan of Cleveland HiBore as well. The only reason I haven't gotten one is because I can't find a buyer for my Nike Lucky 13. I love Cobra clubs. I think the look, sound and feel great. Good luck with new driver. I hope it works out for you.

I've always preferred long irons over the hybrids. I do use a 3 wood but I'll use my 2 iron before my 5 wood. I get good distance and it's pretty accurate. I am making a conscious effort to incorporate woods/hybrids in my game but my 2 iron is accurate and reliable.

Driving Range Pro to Golf Course Idiot?
og512 replied to MCFung's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Same here. I think my swing breaks down over the course of a round. As I get started, my confidence is high because i making good shots. Then I think I start getting lazy and not concentrating and bad things start happening. it's a vicious cycle mentally. -
left work early today and to go and try alot of what I have read. And i'll be damned. I kept the lower body still, moved the ball back in my setup, stopped the wrist break for the most (bad habits are hard to break). This golf center has a short game practice area so I hit about 60 shots from varying distances (5 - 75 yds) on to a practice green and only about 10 of shots didn't end up in within 10 feet. the others were nothing to be desired. But if I could duplicate that on the course I would definitely drop 5-7 strokes off my round (assuming everything else plays consistent) thank you all for the tips

I played 9 holes set at a demo day. I loved em. It was actually one of the best 9 hole scores I ever shot. The feel great. I would have bought them but had other $$$ priorities at the time. I would definitely recommend them.

I spend most of my practice time with my driver, putter and irons. The only time my wedges see any action is on the course. Thus my short game has suffered tremendously and its where I lose most of my strokes. The couple rounds have been increasingly frustrating because a keep 'blading' the ball will the wedges. It feels and sounds like I am I hitting all ball on the very edge of the club at the bottom of the face. The ball never sees the face of the club, never gets more than 6-8 feet off the ground and I send the ball screaming over/past/thru the green. Is this a set-up problem? Breaking the wrists? And suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Having the correct grip size is important as well. To small will cause a hook and too big will cause a slice. I had a big problem with this with my driver. I took of the stock grip and put on a larger grip and the results have been phenonminal. To answer your question, I use a medium to light grip but i think my grip size is a big factor in that.
