  1. Man I hate to say it but that looks like one of the joke/cliche training aids they would have in a golf movie to make fun of a beginner reaching out for whatever miracle fix they can get their hands on. If you get it make sure you only use it in the house...better get an indoor putting green if you don't have one Big Moss Original Seriously though, this is the best thing I've done for my putting so far. Letting me practice-practice-practice whenever I have time has taken 3 putt per round off my score, just getting the groove for the stroke is SO helpful. I got mine off eBay for $80 shipped. It was a factory second but it's perfect on the top, seller was "bmgolfoutlet" and it came with a chipping mat and a hole reducing ring. Anyway I know this whole post has gone a bit OT but if you don't have something (nice) that lets you putt inside I'd recommend that before the comically-complex putter sight/level/square/miter attachment... Good luck.
  2. Oh I promise you would quickly see the problem if you did this more than once around me. Unless we are playing against each other you would be informed in no uncertain terms this is a dick move. Given your attitude in this response it would be a fun conversation for me. I carry a rule book in my bag and if I have a question about a rule I'll look it up myself or ASK someone I'm with (in which case fire away and let them know the error of their ways), but I would NEVER call someone out who I'm just randomly paired with. Just a thought, If you want to be informed of the rules to avoid a DQ then just learn the damn rules, don't depend on someone correcting your mistakes to learn. It's also not your responsibility to teach the poor ignorant golf masses the rules so they don't get DQ. So here's to you Mr. UN-solicited Golf-rule-Nazi : killing good will on the golf course one unsuspecting golfer at a time.
  3. I'll bet the sleeves to reshaft these show up on eBay by the end of the month...
  4. Man insert beating dead horse smiley :), well the stupid iPhone doesn't cut and paste or I'd post some links but in regards to the head style it's a plain old Newport 2 studio stainless. There are special cosmetic diffs, the big cherry dot on the face and the vertical Scotty Cameron stamp on the face. I think it also has tiger woods on the rear bumpers. Also think it's a plain sole. It is one of the solid "GSS" versions, but from what I read the whole german stainless thing is really Scotty speak for select 303 stainless...
  5. I heard 2Pac is their neighbor...
  6. I took a Canon SD300 (this is a point and shoot still camera that happens to do video) which shoots in 60FPS (320x240 I think, does 640x480 at 30fps) on the Hulk roller coaster at Islands of Adventure and I was really blown away by the clarity in the paused frames. I agree that the 60fps should be sufficient to determine swing issues that could cause the face to be left open. Honestly do you need to SEE the impact on video to know the face was left open? Does the ball-flight not give a pretty clear indication that the face was left open?
  7. If there is it will still be OK; the Windows virtual machine will install/run the software just fine and then VMWare takes care of the USB translation from the VM to the actual hardware... If you aren't already familiar with installing Windows and virtaul machines, then the VM idea might be throwing you in the deep end from a concept standpoint. Here's the Support Site for BootCamp Basically you carve out a piece of your hard drive for Windows and then once it's installed you can just boot into either OS world (Mac/Windoze). If you have a copy of XP/Vista, all the drivers you'll need are already on the Leopard install disk. It's actually a more streamlined process installing Windows on a Mac than most "Windows" boxes. Shoot me a PM is this makes no sense and I'll help out if I can; treading on the Dark Side after coming to the light can be scary but it's better than living there... (In case you can't tell I really like my Mac; I work in a Windows IT development shop and I'm one of the few that has seen the light so to speak)
  8. Don't know if you have an Intel Mac, but I've had really good luck with USB devices and VMWare Fusion. I don't think I've hooked up a single USB device that didn't work just like it was a native Windows install. I plan on using an iGolf Neo with my Server 2008 VM, I'll post back results in a few weeks when I actually buy the device :)
  9. Just a note to anyone buying the New Decade MC grips, I dind't realize it but there are actually counterfeit versions of these grips on eBay. Here's a post with a link to the guide on how to spot them> Post Link
  10. Correct, not relevant/on topic (a bit redundant there though) You should start a thread with these questions and I'm sure you'll see many more posts than tacking the question on to an existing thread. Good luck. To the OP: Congrats on the new sticks.
  11. Quoting this just because the sentiment is so true and the tongue-in-cheek delivery was pretty priceless...
  12. Here's a link to an eBay Guide on how to spot fake GCMC grips. I just bought 10 of these off eBay and according to this guide it looks like I got lucky and they are the real thing. I never even thought to check for "counterfeit" grips so I'm glad I think I got the real deal... eBay Guide for Fake GCMC
  13. Have you seen the different color things at the beginning of each hole? Those different sets of what we call "Tee Boxes" are one way golf does manage the situation you reference, except golf cleverly changes the start position instead of the Goal No limiting the tension is not bad, just like limiting COR to 0.83 is not bad. What WOULD suck and make the whole sport seem skewed would be amateurs with NO tension restriction hitting the 200mph and then when they go pro it drops to the "standard". That's essentially what you're asking for. The whole tennis/golf analogy doesn't work anyway in my mine because the equipment used in tennis can directly affect the opponent. What I mean is in golf if someone is using a "hot" driver and can hit the ball 400 yards, the 300 year driver can still hit it 300 years when it's his turn; in tennis if your opponent is using a "hot" racquet (don't even know if that makes sense in this context but we'll just go with it) this DIRECTLY affects your ability to return their shots and compete on a level playing field... See I think there is a right and wrong here: if you think what the USGA thinks you're right, if not then you're wrong. No one is trying to "fix" golf, in fact I guess I missed the course markers denoting that the game was broken... BTW I only hit the "Quote" button once...
  14. You mean the formatting of the board changes on your posts? Even if you don't have the button you can put QUOTE=username in [] + quotedText + /QUOTE in [] to get the formatting you're trying to post And another Finally
  15. Hmmm, if you agree with the general opinion of the thread then it's not a gimmick. It would seem to me that posters who actually have USED it think that it is of value if the golfer in question can start the ball on their intended line with consistency. In case you can't tell I'm Pro Ball-Tool/A.I.M Line and think it's a great idea. I'll be ordering one soon and have been using the line on the ball for a few months now and it really helps confidence and focus on speed. Other reviews I've read online speak well of it and there is at least one PGA player who is said to have had one over-nighted to him when he lost his. That could speak more to the player's desire to maintain his putting routine than the usefulness of the tool but still it seems like a pretty good endorsement.
  16. Maybe that will work for you but it's totally different for me, even from a feel standpoint. My right side pulls my stroke through (or at least that's how I think about it, really everything moves together) and when I turn this around I have a couple of problems: left side is stronger so if it does drive the stroke everything feels "off" and I've worked to make the right side used to leading so to speak (VERY left handed here) so if it's not then everything feels "off". End result for me putting opposite handed is everything feels off. Mechanically I can replicate my stroke and I putt pretty well opposite handed, but nothing feels right. I like my unitized Leo. Stripped all the goofy white and yellow paint and removed the loud yellow shaft-band made it look really good. Haven't been playing long and I was having "feel" issues for distance and just my stroke in general so I put a Ping-man grip on and started taking my glove off to putt; best thing I've done for my putting. Note the shaft is just a painted True Temper stepless shaft, I like the stepless look but that's just me... I put a Sharpie site dot on since the leo doesn't have any markings but I think the other unitized do: for $45 shipped I couldn't be happier with my wand. Good luck
  17. See this is where I'd actually think companies make themselves seem cheap if it's a paid "upgrade" or expansion. When I mean is increasing the number of courses on the device (apparently to 20) through software. If you can add the "space" for more courses through software then it was always an artificial software limitation anyway and I think that's pretty poor. They're giving the impression that you're adding something "new" when really they are just (I think) trying to limit the number of courses locally on the device for subscription purposes. If this is a free update then cool, whatever they add is gravy. If you have to pay for this then I think they suck...
  18. I've read (which means I'm NOT talking from experience here) that there are essentially two methods for bunker shots: 1.) vary the amount of backswing or 2.) vary the amount of sand you try and scoop with the shot I guess the theory is that either one of these will vary the distance the ball travels, one by changing the club speed, the other by changing the amount of force exerted on the ball due to the extra sand. Personally I find it's easier to be consistent with the varying the backswing method. Given the different stances required for some bunker shots it seems it would be difficult to exactly gauge the amount of sand you are scooping. After I decide 3/4, 2/3, 1/2, 1/4; I aim an inch behind the ball every time and then once I start down it's down hard and through until sand hits the green. I don't play in super fluffy sand though so I've never had a ball buried where I couldn't see at least 1/4 of it so I can't speak to the super buried lie...
  19. Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. The 1st gen iPhone used cell/wifi triangulation to determine position, the second gen (or 3G) actually has an honest to goodness satellite position. As iacas pointed out the current (3G) version still uses the triangulation method for a rough measure as it's acquiring sat position or when the satellite is unavailable (indoors) but the device is trying to get the satellite if it can...
  20. This is incorrect. The iPhone needs a data connection for the MAP image, but if the image is stored locally (or if there is not image such as in the case of a yardage measurement) the iPhone requires no cell connection to get a position (kinda the definition of GPS...).
  21. You're killing me; no, I guess I'm saying if you're not respectful don't be surprised if someone DOES kick your ass period. I'm not telling you to do anything... Seriously don't expect any more replies here, this is stupid.
  22. OK last post in this mess of a thread... I agree is was in bad taste to say you need your *** kicked. Understand though that is the true sentiment of a lot of golfers and you should consider how much fun this discussion would be with someone in real life on the course after they've just missed a putt due to your choice to discard etiquette regardless of the local rule or not. I smoke, not really illegal on the course but I know that people don't like to breath it even outside if they choose not to smoke, in fact it is probably still unhealthy if they get a good cloud. I don't smoke on the tee, on the green, or in the cart with a non-smoker because it's just bad form. Metal spikes are just bad form...
  23. +1. I've used a few of these apps and it just is not consistent. Also the general nature of the device doesn't lend itself to fitting in with the game really well: The screen was not really designed to run without the backlight so this hits the battery pretty bad, the touch screen can be finicky though a dirty glove, no insurance for the iPhone means if you fall in a hazard wearing your phone you're out like $400 to replace it. This plus the accuracy issues... Compare to a golf specific device (I like the iGolf Neo) where the screen was meant to run without a back light, better GPS chipset, dedicated hardware buttons for specific functions, and you're out like $115 if it gets damaged. If you drop the Neo from a moving cart I bet it takes the lick and keeps on ticking; don't know if I'd bet on the iPhone vs the cart path though...
  24. Why do you keep posting then? You have seen enough replies to know that the general opinion of this board is not going to support your action and yet you keep posting as if looking for some justification and then act upset when people continue to disagree...but whatever, I don't care if you play in pink bunny slippers as long as you're not on the course I'm on.
  25. You're just going to keep posting until the entire board calls you a dick aren't you?
