Proper Grip Pressure (It's Firmer than You Might Think)
CaptHook replied to iacas's topic in Swing Thoughts
Yep, happens to me every now and then. But for me, if i start blocking, I'll realize my grip pressure is too strong. Too loose, and leftsssss all day. Of course, more issues like everyone else, but one less thing to think about when my grip pressure is about a relative 4 or 5 for me. Grip pressure def makes a difference for me -
Roger! You were correct and I'm grateful. Now need a couple drills for getting back in sync. Feels so akward to be thinking, hit right but feels awesome to see a TRUE draw!!

Thanks for the help guys. I'm in Louisiana for business again, and found a random golf range. The Pro was giving lessons in the next bay, and so I thought, what the heck. May as well work on something instead of bashing balls looking for the "secret". So he gave me an hr lesson. Anyway, long story short, path problem. I was coming over the top slightly, sequence and timing were a little off. He worked with me on exactly what you suggested. He would say "think 10 yards right, and youll hit from inside out" So, now I know what I reallly need to work on, and I saved money by not making an impulse buy : )

You know you're addicted to golf when u work offshore on a supply vessel and always bring a SW, mat, putter and mini roll out green : ) I looooove golf, just wish it loved me! LOL

+1 greatest youtube video EVER!!! Hilarious! I've been told I'm Mr. Mood Swing Guy lol Cmon who isn't on the golf course?! LOL
-
Thanks bud, I'm gonna take the advice and work on my swing more. Always tempting to get a new "fix" purchase lol i like my irons and as a mid handicapper, can't afford less forgiveness.
-
Lol wish that were the case bc that would be the easy part. I thought it was a legit question. Ive come to learn that its a common misconception that offset causes hooks. Duly noted, but thanks for the encouragement ; )
-
Gotcha, thanks. Most likely wishful thinking that the tool could be the prob. Typical hack stuff u know lol Will have to try and let u know how it goes Swing video thread coming in t minus 14 days. Working away from home and golf course sucks!

Less forgiveness is not an option : ) I want to drop my HC not increase it. My shots are starting online and going left. (Pull draw?) Some may start a little left and go left? I always aim right a little to play a draw though, so im sure a video would help us both. My eyea are not as trained as most on this aite though. From what i see on my video, i bob my head up and down a little. Maybe this could cause it?

T
I woke up this morning thinking about rangefinders. Just goes to show that there is always something.
This is an older post, but have to say that my rangefinder was hands down, the BEST golf investment I've made

Oh
I've made a grip change that helps a lot, and its not as far left as i lead on. My wedges are straight with no offset but thought maybe bc of the higher lofts. My typical miss is about a 20 yard hook with irons. I'd like about a 5 yard turn. Thanks for chiming in! Assuming its not my swing, whats a good suggestion to start with if im going from a full cb?
Oh and as soon as I can get off this ship, I'll post a video of my swing. I finally figured it out but our wifi is dreadfully slow out here

Hey guys, thinking about making the switch from my TM Rocketbladez to a less offset iron or none at all. My wedges aren't cavity back and have no offset and I hit them fine. Trying to avoid the dreaded left and thought getting irons with no offset or less would help. Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated!
-
I can also relate with the closed faces or offset. Switch to a smaller 430 R15 head and wont go back. Also thinking of making the switch to a less offset iron (i play TM Rocketbladez, but blades for wedges) set of irons to avoid the lefts as my swing continues to improve. Would like to change my name to CaptNotSoLeft soon lol

+1 TM RBZ. I've got the 3 Wood, 3 and 4 hybrid ill switch up depending on the course. I've tried new ones and always go back to them. Ebay has them pretty cheap now. Toss the driving iron! Hybrids have helped me and are a great investment! Good Luck!

Lol well i always buy my gear and golf balls off Ebay. (A reputable seller) Last set of 50 NXT balls i bought were 9/10 rating and paid like $1 per ball. Give it a shot

Need a new 3 wood — want something classic
CaptHook replied to citizenzen's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Man I know Taylormade is the other end of the spectrum, but my Taylormade RBZ HL 3 wood is a club I'll never get rid of. Monster off the tee box and easier to hit off deck than a strong 3 wood. Even my buddies that hate white heads, adjustable hosels, only play Titleist kinda guys love to hit my 3 wood. You can get it pretty cheap on ebay now. -
Not sure but I play the Titleist NXT Tour w about a 250 carry Driver and 160 7 iron. I'll play the same ball a few rounds without hesitation. No loss of spin or compression on what little i put on the ball ; )

Keeps21 that thing is hilarious. My wife bought me a dumbed down version of that for christmas one yr. Lol Anyway, i work on a ship offshore and I always bring a LW w me and a mat. I mostly work on positions and pitch and chip swing. Mirror work in the head is a must before I head back to the bridge too haha

Proper Grip Pressure (It's Firmer than You Might Think)
CaptHook replied to iacas's topic in Swing Thoughts
Wow this thread has been quite the party. Back to topic, with a question. Where should the proper pressure points be on both hands? Simple short and sweet answers please : ) -
The Biggest Secret? Slide Your Hips
CaptHook replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Well when i hit the ball poorly, im getting stuck on my right foot and flipping my hands. I read "The Impact Zone" and it helped me realize impact with a better understanding. (This forum helps too ;) I FEEL like at the top of my swing, i bump my hips laterally, which drops me in the slot, then let my right shoulder fire through. My upper body stays covering the ball like some have already mentioned. Hope this helps someone as I'm just another hacker in pursuit of a reliable golf swing!- 949 replies

"The A Swing: The Alternative Approach to Great Golf" by David Leadbetter
CaptHook replied to iacas's topic in Reading Room
I've read this book and in my opionion, maybe for a golfer just starting out, it might be "easier" to learn w supervision. But i dont see guys that already have a good idea of their model or swing, changing to this one. Off topic but I loved The Impact Zone and The Four Magic Moves if anyones looking for a great read. 2 cents from an avg hacker -
I tend to be an armsy player when im off. When i thought of left hip bump then firing my right shoulder, it was like magic lol my newest personal golf swing revelation! : ) Ps if u come over the top, firing right shoulder would def not help
