  1. all good. i hate seeing it thats all but thats me. cheapens the game for me.everyone is different.
  2. another opinion against the grain? thats the way i see it. no biggy.
  3. how well do you hit your hybrids? the only thing i can think of is adding a stronger hybrid that you hit well if you are having troubles with the 5w.
  4. gambling doesnt belong on the golf course. save it for poker night.
  5. a few fun moments from the outing. i told everyone all week that i had a secret weapon. showing up with one or more different clubs every time we played this year it was only fitting to do the same for our big event. as everyone gathered for the first drive of the day i pulled off my driver headcover to reveal my newest club, a ladies right handed driver with pink ribbons. going left handed off the tee all year it was quite a shocker. an even bigger one was me splitting the fairway sweet and long.very impressive drive. it was all down hill for me after that though. the blacks and playing 18 was just too much for me. lots of lost balls, fat shots, and three putt greens. me and my buddy played pretty even all year give or take 3 strokes a side and we again finished 7 strokes apart. from the blacks at 7,154 yards me 124, him and his 4 clubs only 117. i saved a surprise long drive contest for the last hole. the day before i found this black dog headcover at our play it again sports and got it as a last second prize. wouldnt you know it the owner of the store won the headcover. i said to him as i gave him his award i bet this looks familiar to you haha. little did i know how familiar. it turned out that he had bought that headcover for his son as a birthday gift. his son never used it and he decided to put it up for sale as his store. he was happy to win it and he said he had to keep it now. the callaway handicap system was awesome. took a long time to do but this one high handicapper won the low net in his group. i thought he was going to cry. he was so happy to win something. speed of playing wasnt a factor. the only ones who got held up some at all was the group behind us who were playing from the whites. just a great time on the links with my friends and an awesome cookout after with all the wives joining us.
  6. Have you ever tried it? a friend who has been playing with a half a bag for a couple of years turned me on to it and I absolutely love it. i dont think i will ever play with more than 8 clubs in my bag again. doing some research on the matter the 14 club limit wasnt a part of the rules of golf until 1939. before that golfers like Lawson Little were winning tournaments with as many as 31 clubs (7 wedges) while others were winning with only 7. during that era it was rather common for players to carry 8 clubs only. we wanted to make a very difficult course even more challenging and that we did but overall the good players scored good, the bad players scored bad, and the in between scored in between. the best round was recorded by our best player from the whites. 43-37 for an 8 over 80. 3 bridies on the back. that was the first time he played with 8 only and he said he really enjoyed the experience also. on the web i found a group of golfers who play this way all of the time, always 8 or less, always walking...golf minimalists. give it a try some time before knocking it. you might enjoy it as well.
  7. haha yeah right. he is only taking 4 clubs. must be a macho thing huh?
  8. i hear that. i am thinking the whites are going to be tough enough. its a group decision and a guy in my foursome is dead set on the blacks. lol one other group has already said it is dropping to the whites.
  9. awesome. thanks for the help. going to have a low gross champion, net champion using the Callaway scoring, and British Stableford. champion. Should be a lot of fun. Sunday is the day. 65-70 degrees and no rain in sight.
  10. two weeks later i am still having issues. i have been strecthing the iliopsoas like suggested above and doing deep tissue massage/trigger point therapy on my quads but i still feel pain in the joint area itself. the worst area is around the trochanteric bursa. some days after repetitive movement like going up and down ladders to paint i have a hard time walking. ice over the bursa and a tens unit knocks my pain level down. i was limping some yesterday when playing. i switched out my driver for a 4 wood lefthanded. going to try my rh ladies club tomorrow. havent had a golf related injury last this long....except for my bruised thumb. :)
  11. played nine at a course i played earlier this year only this time with 8 clubs only and my 4 wood instead of driver. the tree lined holes werent that big of a problem this time except for the last hole slicing one ob. putted much better. hit a few too many wedge shots fat. still a 4 stroke improvement over last time. 49.
  12. i tend to look around the 5th hole or so, count how many im over and see how far behind or ahead i am compared to the other players on the card.
  13. sometimes my medicine causes some issues so i always bring along some tissues. havent needed them yet. on iffy days i take charcoal tablets and that seems to shut things down rather nicely.
  14. I would love to be able to score consistently between 40 and 44. To me that range is where all the "good" golfers are. anything in the 80s really. i have been in the 90s pretty much all year.
  15. played with 8 clubs yesterday with my longest a 4 wood. left the driver home for the first time this year. the 4 wood kept me on the fairways for most of the round. lost my lucky ball OB on # 9 and finished with a triple bogey. had a few horrible wedge shots (some spots were sloppy wet and didnt adjust for that. putted decent again. had a bogey par par bogey streak going. ended with a 49.
  16. sounds like the combination of increased loft, more flex and maybe most important less length. its about as long as my 4 and 5 woods which i seem to hit fairly straight and the 5 wood is firm flex and the 4 reg. i got my big event coming up next sunday. after having different clubs every time we played this year its only fitting that i show up for our "major" with a new driver and a ladies one at that lol.
  17. haha sounds like something i would do. if i can keep my drives in play with this club i dont care what kind of looks i get. i am up there with the bigger hitters of my group but just too much spin. i have been using prov 1s but im pretty sure it is my swing to blame. its nice that my left shoulder is feeling better to try right handed clubs again but this one shocked me. i tried an A flex earlier in the year and hit nothing but duck hooks with it. im anxious to try it again this weekend sometime. see if yesterday was just a fluke or not.
  18. I was Goodwill Hunting yesterday and I found a LPGA Square Two Driver Melody Driver. I bought it for my girfriend who I am slowly trying to convince to play golf and at $4.60 it was a bargain. Mint condition. I always like to try the clubs I buy before i give them to someone or trade in at Play It Again Sports. My drives have not been very consistent this year with a fade that can turn into an ugly slice. This driver is right handed, about two inches shorter than my lefthanded AdamsGolf Redline 10.5.Not sure what loft or flex it is, i imagine a Ladies flex..duh but i need to try something. I hurt my right hip and right shoulder a few weeks ago trying to get my Adams driver to work and I am limping again this morning. But yesterday with a slower than normal swing with Melody I smacked about 10 drives straight and long.I cranked it up a few notches with even better results. I couldnt believe it. I know my swing speed is slowing down but damn...not a slice in sight. now this is right handed so maybe my right handed swing is not so much outside in as left handed but the whip seemed to be squaring my clubface at impact. I had a similar big improvement in my distance and direction when i switched from steel to graphite in my irons this year. Of course I need to take her out again to the range a few times before swapping out my driver or 4 wood but has anyone else seen a big improvement trying ladies club? Anyone carry one?
  19. oh, i see. i would try a hybrid as your longest next time and go from there.
  20. 99 is cool. did you putt with the 5 iron too? any sand shots? how did they go.
  21. I like practicing with a 4 iron but I only carry as low as a 6 iron. my 4iron hybrid is easier to hit with much better distance and higher trajectory than my 5 iron shots currently.
  22. nice. i got a cart bag from datrek earlier this year for the same price. a little different. the putter compartment is outside the bag off to the side. went goodwill hunting this morning and picked up a few irons for $1.67 a piece, king cobra 3100 i/h, Aldila reg flex graphite shafts. one of my golf buddies is 70 and using steel shafts. going to let him give them a try. probably get at least $15 in trade at our play it again if he doesnt like them.
  23. i'd like to read that article when its done.
  24. this is the way you enjoy golf? no wonder you dont have and friends. lol just kidding. i will definitely give some of this a go when the weather gets bad and i have the courses to myself.
