  1. Chunks come from steep swings to contact. Bring the club in a bit shallower.
  2. ALSO, move the ball up in your stance. Like not far off your left foot for your driver.
  3. Backing out could lead to loss of power and tops/thin shots. But, this next tip may help. A study was shown that the best ball-strikers, at impact, have a slight lean back in their upper body. The degrees of their torso was like 100, instead of 90 which would be straight up. This has helped my game and made me hit balls high, yet not pop ups. It has helped my long irons amazingly (as goes for fairway woods and driver). Experiment with this and tell me how you like it. If you start topping it, it means you're trying to lift the ball and hitting the ball on the upswing. By the way, though you have the "slightest" lean back at impact, make sure to continue excelling through your body, so you tap into the power gained by coming in a bit shallower. Have fun!
  4. Padraig Harrington has been known to excel in survival tourneys (like PGA, and Open Championship). If Augusta turns into one of these tests, how do you think he will end up doing? Winning? Top 10? MC?
  5. I LOVE Anthony Kim's swing plane. Clean as hell
  6. I recommend getting videos from behind as well. Your pop ups are coming from a steep angle into the ball
  7. Hes gotta try hitting it conventional. if he wants to get better
  8. Also, Can't go wrong with an energy bar and a water
  9. Biggest thing to do: Keep you rhythm and slow your pace. In these tourney's your likely to get caught up in the moment and have too fast of a pace. Stay calm and focus on rhythm.
  10. Neither, I try to keep the same correct plane for every club. This way i get great consistency and i can be flatter or more upright for different clubs really easily.
  11. I grip to the bottom for all chips. I grip most the way down for pitches. Full shots no grip down
  12. They may work for you, but for many I recommend going to get fit for any new irons. This will get you the irons that will help your game more than any other. good luck with your blades, though. I personally play AP2's
  13. No, I'm sorry, your friends grips it crosshanded
  14. You have one HUGE problem. You're gripping the club cross-handed.
  15. i would open the face and really use my wrists to control the club. im not sure if this is the best way to get it high and stop, but i was able to pop it up
  16. you can't assume you will shoot an 82 from 9 holes of 41 until you do it.
  17. Yeah, I know what you mean. I think i may also try moving it up in my stance. maybe it will pop it up a little bit more productively
  18. Believe it or not, arguable, and what i have found is that it is easier to get your swing fixed back on plane from inside rather than outside. Thats partially why you hear about everyone's slice. You may not be that far from hitting the ball way straighter
  19. I mean eventually I'll get into the whole using other clubs for chips, but for now I need a back up plan if things get a little messy, eh? So far with my chips, the low ones, (by the way I'm talking just around the green) I put my hands way forward, slight back ball position, keep my wrists steady follow through really down into the ball and keep my follow through down.. Gets it real low and a ton of check. My flops I play the face far open, come back with no wrist action, then when I bring my hands down, flip my wrists a little bit. POPS it straight up, and stops it dead. What I'm looking for is a mid height chip shot that you can play just off the green and get a small amount of role. I had it over the summer. By the way, laxplayer, over the summer, I LOVED that shot. During my state tourney last year, I would find myself like 30 yards from the green, but i would hit a punch/pitch shots which would bounce once or twice and stop dead. Lead me to shoot a 3 over the first 9. I would find my club stuck in the ground. Fun stuff.
  20. So, I'm still experimenting with my chipping and need to practice it more. Recently, I really got my high/flop chips relatively accurate. I can also hit low runners that spin like none other. I use a 58 degree wedge for basically all my chips (not up for discussion). Assistance is needed in the field of hitting chips about waist high and have them with minimal roll. What's a good strategy for doing this? Obviously, with accuracy.
  21. Recently, I have become a Hank guy Haney, and I have similar methods that he does. The key to the golf swing is SWING PLANE. Right now you are slicing, which comes from your swing plane. I recommend seeing a pro about swing plane, or watching many, many golf videos on the swing plane. Watch golf if you can. If anything, get your swing inside and flat, then work on getting it back on perfect plane. Work on the other little things throughout, but focus on your swing plane. I guarantee it will help you enormously.
  22. Being a tour pro, I doubt it (sorry) but there are great possibilities to working in the field of golf. I recommend getting lessons because they help your game universally. Make sure you get to know them before you commit, and make sure they can get you where you want. I also recommend playing a lot more. I personally play 6 times a week, and thats helped my game enormously. That is key. So, good luck.
  23. Actually, I am quite similar to you. Recently, my grips cut my fingers and i have what was a blister. It's now a painful annoyance. I'm not sure if you mean that your finger is being cut like this or actually the finger is sore. I would say keep what your doing, because it will most likely toughen up and won't be cut again.
  24. If your club is pointing right, then you are taking your club inside on the backswing. This tends to make it so your club is coming in to out on the ball, rather then right at your target. This will cause large draws mostly. Pushes may be a cause also. The key is to get your club so it is "on plane," so when you strike the ball, there's minimal side spin. P.S The bobby jones video is a good representation of this.
  25. My personal belief is that chipping is a lot of personal feel. Technique makes chipping easier to feel, but feel for you distance and feel for your trajectory is key. This feel is built with confidence, so I believe go ahead and work with what's comfortable, so you develop that "feel". After you have confidence with one club, move on to multiple clubs and get a bit more creative. There's no one way to play golf
